Date: 2006-07-04 04:24 am (UTC)Well, sort of? Whatever it is I'm currently fanning over (pop, CSI, Firefly, etc.), my friends and family know about it. They also know I belong to an online community(ies) of some kind, that I sometimes go places to meet other members of the community, that I read erotica and sometimes watch porn, and that some members of the community I belong to are writers, which allows me to benefit from the gift of free stories (mom and I were talking about how expensive electronic books are). I share links (not to people's journals, but links y'all post in your journals), and sometimes funny stories, even stories that are probably considered slashy (like without_me asking the stripper boys in Vegas to kiss for us--the weenies, they wouldn't). And if my LJ is up on my PC at work or at home, I don't rush over to minimize it. Etc., etc.
The reason I say 'sort of' is that I've never put it all together for them, though, and I've never told them my journal name, or used the words 'fanfiction' or 'slash' or 'livejournal' or sent them links to anyone's stories. It's not because I'm embarrassed of y'all, though--it's just, I'm pretty entangled with my family, and I just really need something that's mine. You know?

7. To keep the bad people out. LoL that's not a 'bad people are everywhere' comment. My first year of college was hard for me because I lost my 'best' friend (who wasn't really a friend at all), made 4 new friends who all stabbed me in the back, one of which did a very bad thing to me and got away with it. And they're all mad at me like I ruined their evil plan to take over the world or something by reporting him to the police, and thus decided to stalk me and harass me online, causing me to delete my journal several times and create new ones. I've had this one just over a year now and I'm grateful they haven't taken it from me like the others. But I'm always afraid they'll come back and do it again. So flocked is the only way I feel safe.

7. Yes. I've never written a story or a poem or anything voluntarily, and I always hated writing at school. I'm good at academic writing, but the creative stuff just isn't for me. Fortunately there are other fields where I can be creative. :)
The fandom makes me wish I could write, because I do have some

So, this fandom you're not into? How fannish are you about it now?
Arg. Okay, well, first I'm fannish about the show to the extent that I usually watch an episode a day, mostly when I got to bed (and then I fall asleep half-way through). I'm definitely reading, at the moment I'm reading more Supernatural than Popslash, just because there is far more new Supernatural than Popslash. However, I've found that I'm extremely picky, and there are only few writers that I really enjoy, much less am fannish about. And I write. I've almost finished my first Sam/Dean, I've written two Jensen/Jared, one Jensen/Chris (Kane), and I've signed up for a kink challenge to write some more Jensen/Jared. I guess you could say that it's pretty much a lost case as soon as I start writing. However, I'm definitely not planning on leaving Popslash, and I'm reading and writing that as well. At the moment, they co-exist in a rather friendly way, I hope it stays like that.
