At 7:45 last Wednesday my broadband went off. It's still off now. Between us James and I have talked to various departments for over 11 hours, and we're still no further forward. The broadband is connecting to our house, we found that out using a test login, but it seems our account has been barred/wiped/something. We're going in circles and getting nowhere fast. The department we need to deal with shuts at 8, so it's back to them in the morning, and fingers crossed they'll finally have an idea about what the heck is up.

I've gone past being pissed to resignation now. But man, I miss you all, miss fannish stuff and being in the loop. Having no access at all has shown how much I rely on the net. Not just for fannish stuff, but checking the bank, looking something up, cinema listings, the weather. So damn frustrating. I've wanted to listen to Justin's song, discuss Doctor Who, Pirates 2 and all I have is that stupid 691 error taunting me.

Someone James was talking to earlier said things should be sorted tomorrow. I so hope they are. This isn't a tragedy by any account, but I'm in net withdrawal and it isn't fun. Then again, bright spots are having more time for house related stuff.....dude. I've changed my mind, that's a sort of bright spot at most *g*

Anyway. Right now I've installed pay as you go dial up, just so I can get online. I can't stay long because dude, I can see the money slipping onto my phone bill as I chat, it's so slow that my banner takes five minutes to load. Reading the flist is impossible due to the time and money combination. My main email is down but Gmail is okay ( turps33@gmail.com) and I'll download that as often as I can. People coming to mine, I'll be in touch with you all soon.

Now I'm going to go stare at my banner a while. Just because I can, and I'm just that sad *g*

Aww hun, I had the exact same internet problems a couple months back. I had problems for a good month before they finally got it right. My house was spotless though. LOL Sorry it's all messed up, talk to you soon!

I totally hear you re; the dependance on the net. And, like you said, not just the fannish stuff but everything else. You don't realise how much you rely on insta!knowledge and information on-line til the day when you're cut off from it.

Gah, that really sucks. Especially the pay-as-you-go dial-up, because I'm used to my ISP, which has free dial-up for all broadband users for any time the network might be down.

I really hope they find out what the problem is and get it fixed for you soon, hun. It's amazing how cut-off you can feel when the internet isn't working. Kind of like all of your friends have just disappeared on you, even though we're all sitting about waiting for you to come back :)
