My plans for the day are to get caught up on things. Mail, comments, updating my websites, maybe even a little housework. Which is great in theory but all I want to do is read porn, which is not so good.

Last night I read a 42 chapter popslash story, and it was bad, yet I still kept on reading. Lets just say it was light when I started and when I finished it was nearly two in the morning.

I don't know why I read it, because if one more character started to cry I was about to pull my own hair out. Not just a few tears but full sobbing fits, every one of them. I had to skim past those bits. I know men cry, but not every damn chapter. In fact, I have a problem with sobbing characters in general. I think everyone's been at the point when they do end up sobbing. But fanfic characters seem to reach that point much easier. Had a bad day? Just sob on your friends shoulder, he won't mind. Your girlfriend/boyfriend chucked you? Have a break down in front of a whole room of people, they won't mind.

I'm wandering fandoms here but [livejournal.com profile] littledrop wrote how she saw some episodes of TS and realised how off the characterisation of Blair in TS fandom can be. She's right, he's not weak, he doesn't sob on Jim's shoulder all the time. Yes, he cried when Maya threw him over but sobbing? Nope.

Can you tell I'm getting an issue with sobbing? Hell, just another issue to add to my pile *g*

So, I read that story all last night. I call them car wreck stories, you can't help look and just keep on reading to see if they get better. My rewards for getting to the end of that one was a sugary wedding with declarations of love and commitment. I was so happy I sobbed (/sarcasm)

Okay, better go and do something productive, but [livejournal.com profile] littledrop also discussed something in her LJ I've been thinking about. So I'll probably post soon. I bet you all can't wait lol

Yeah, I know what kind of stories you're talking about. I think we're all succumbing to them from time to time. What does it say about us, I wonder! lol

And I agree with the 'sobbing' mini rant. Sometimes, I even feel uncomfortable for the characters when they start doing the 'sobbing' thing. Usually, it just does seem off- it's not *them* at all. But well, if writers want them to sob and sob... I'll just have to skip those parts, I guess *eg*

I wouldn't like to think *g*

That anyone would subject themselves to hours of stories that make them want to pull their hair out is insane really. But I really couldn't stop reading. After chapter 10 or so I just kept thinking, it must get better. But it didn't :(

*Nods* It's all you can so sometimes. Because there's a lot of stories that have characters just OOC a little, in those cases the stories are good, if you can ignore the bits that annoy you.

Lol, I enjoyed that mini rant. And I've updated the MX archive a little. Go me!
