(no subject)
Mar. 29th, 2007 07:46 amYou know, it's far too early to be up when it's not a school day. Sadly, I need to be somewhere by half eight, so here I am.
Corey's parents evening went good yesterday. That is when I actually got there, I had to walk past the pub and got hauled inside by mam and one of her friends. Thankfully she was at the clinging I love you stage of being drunk, but I could have done without her friend telling me all about how she's lost too much weight and could I get her a diet sheet at my hospital appointment, because you know, I just love that stuff broadcast to the world. The friend wasn't being mean or anything, just loud and by the time I got out of there I was nearly late. I'm really not built for hurrying to the school.
Anyway, Corey's above average in all his subjects and his teacher is very pleased with how his year has gone. She says he seems to have gained a lot of confidence in the last few months, talking to people and willing to answer in class. Which is great because he's always been shy. The only worry she has is because he's so placid and kind natured he may get bullied at the new school. That's something that worried us too, which is why we encouraged him to join rugby and karate. But, apart from that there's nothing we can do. It's all up to him.
Walking out of the school we had to walk past the reception classes, and man, I got such a pang. ( For all the newbies, Corey's my son. He's eleven now and is about to start Secondary school in September, which is weird as I'm sure he was a toddler last week)
Our appointment was the last one, and we had to wait a while. I was listening to the mam before us, and she was raging on about how Britney is such a bad influence to the kids, and all I could think of was, but she's good at buckling on a strap-on and giving it to Justin as JC watches. But at least I didn't tell James that in the classroom, so I count it as a win.
