Computer help needed.

I got my computer monitor back today. It's what came with the computer so I figured all I had to do was plug it back in and it would be fine. Shows what I know.

The monitor itself is working. It shows the compaq logo but then goes to a blue screen when the computer starts to boot up. It'll show icons etc if we load in safe mode but nothing we've done makes it start normally.

My computer is working fine as soon as I connect the monitor I've been using for the last few months, but I want my flat screen.

Any advice will be gratefully taken.

ETA: After being told it's probably a driver problem, I've googled the driver and am about to install it. *crosses fingers*

I know very little about Windows machines, but have you checked that you got the correct driver for the flat screen?

I would also assume you're missing a driver.

See, as it's the monitor that came packaged with my computer originally I figured that the driver would still be there. I hoped so anyway as I suck and have no idea how to check if that's the problem.

First off, I'm drunk as a skunk right now. Second, everybody I know's been having problems with their monitors lately. Wtf? Is there some kind of virus going around or what? Is that even possible? *confused*

I imagine it's possible, but thankfully my monitor went wonky months ago, but I've only just got it fixed. Which doesn't help anyone else though :(
