I didn't expect the poll I posted yesterday to get so much attention, just wow. The comments that have been posted are so fascinating and I've loved reading each one. Some people have gone into incredible detail about what they like and why, and that stuff always interests me. So, thank you for that. Also, no one got wanky about what they didn't like, instead just giving reasons why certain things didn't work for them. Which I'll give a special thank you for.

I'll give people a few more days to fill in the poll then post the results here. Obviously the poll won't be representative of the fandom, but still, they'll be interesting to see.

While it was a gorgeously filmed movie I was still left with a feeling of what's the point? Summed up it's 300 men going to the beach to get the heads chopped off. Yes it's visually stunning and the battle scenes were like some kind of abstract art, but to be honest, seeing limbs flying through the air in slow motion wasn't doing it for me.

Though I was excited when the Alpha Dog promo came on. Justin! A huge half-naked Justin! Be still my heart.

I got a comment about Boxes2 earlier. I started to make a vow to myself to get it finished after remix, because I suck so very much. Then remembered I have Pen's Dragon Challenge and SparklyGlee and man, I have a challenge problem. Someone needs to tie down my hands when challenges are issued.

However, that doesn't stop me reminding you about [livejournal.com profile] sparklyglee There's only two days left to suggest your prompts. We've got a lot of awesome stuff there already, but more prompts are always better. Think about it. Happy fic. Happy fic written for you. That has to be good.

[livejournal.com profile] turloughishere has posted some new Joey pics at [livejournal.com profile] joey_daily You should go take a look, because he's looking fine!

To end. The why did I friend you etc meme is going around. Now I'm not posting that because I get stuck thinking about what object/song/whatever people remind me of, which hello! Not good at that at all. But, if you comment I will tell you why I think you're so cool. Because you are, every single one of you. Yes, you and you and you.

Still haven't seen 300. At this rate, I don't know whether I'll ever will *sigh*

I have a challenge problem.

You? You have a challenge problem? Please, don't tell me it is so! I'd never noticed *blink*

300 is a strange movie. On one hand, wow is it gorgeous to watch. You know how sometimes you're looking at your watch through a movie? That didn't happen at all last night. It's also engaging and interesting. But I came out thinking is that it? Where was the plot?

I also think it'll lose something away from the big screen, so I hope you can see it before it goes off.

You? You have a challenge problem? Please, don't tell me it is so! I'd never noticed *blink*

I swear, I'm getting worse. A huge percentage of my stories are challenge responses. I'd write nothing if I didn't join. I should go cold turkey but I don't think I'd survive.

Also, because you're you and I want to tell you. You're cool because you're my fic brain. I haven't met anyone that fits me so exactly as you do fic wise. You've also got an attitude to life that I think everyone should try and adopt. Really, you're one heck of a woman! *blows kisses*

If you stopped joining challenges at the mere mention of one, there'd b e something missing in my life, sis! Though seriously, I wish I could join challenges like you do. They're always fun - on principle, except for the ones where you write for someone, those, I hate and there's no changing my mind - and it's like collective effort and it also makes you write, which is of the good. I haven't written a single line, in, well a couple of months now and it sucks. The last time I asked the flist for prompts, it did help shoving the writer's block away so challenges - even mini ones - and I wish I could join the bigger ones.

Aww and thanks for what you said! *hugs*

It's pointless joining challenges unless you enjoy them and it seems they're just not for you. In a way I wish they were, because I'm greedy and it would mean more fic, but you obviously walk your own way and there's no point pushing things.

I'm not even sure why I like them so much. It's probably my own adrenalin rush, when there's days to go and still so much to write. Which is another thing, you have a busy working life and can't drop that to write, I can.

I have to say though, I'm bitching about Remix now because man, toughest challenge ever, yet I'm still thinking of the next I'm joining. I fear there's no hope for me.

No worries. I could fill the comment box about you. *smooch*

I sort of agree with you on 300. I guess they were trying to show what fierce warriors they were. And I my gaydar blared something awful in my head whenever that persian (I think) king was on screen. Despite the many metal artifacts in his face, I got the feel that he was very pretty and his voice contradicted the way he looked very much. lol

Wow, you have your challenges cut out for you lol.

Hi, we're friends! *waves enthusiastically*

What about that Justin cheerleading story you started writing in the comments? *poke*

I can't say that 300 was a bad film, because I did enjoy it. Well most of it. I had my eyes closed for some of the battle scenes. They did come across as really fierce, but you know, if I were them I'd have gone home when the goat path was exposed. By not doing so the King was slaughtered and a boy lost his dad. However, I'm not a fierce warrior and I know they had reasons to stay, just, I would have gone, because I'm a wimp like that *g*

The Persian King really was fine looking. I agree with you on that.

I'm a challenge whore, it's that simple. And no worries, [livejournal.com profile] vaudevilles won't let me get away with forgetting about the cheerleaders. It's just I must get Remix done first.

Okay. Compared to lots of people on my flist I haven't known you well, but it doesn't feel like that at all. It feels like you've been around forever. I love how you get so involved in what you do, be that writing or asking questions or just posting about something that interests you. You also stepped up and started linking stuff for me for the newsletter without me even asking, and that shows so much. That you think about others and are willing to do your part. I think that's really cool.

*mwah*

LOL Me and my mom live for battle scenes. :D Though me and my mom had wished they'd gone on home. We had become rather fond of the boy who lost his head. :(

I felt bad for the queen too because of the whole thing with her actually being alone and plotted against. Not only that, you could tell the King and Queen had each others backs. That they loved each other very much, with fierceness even. I don't see that very often in these type of movies. I usually see the queen just waiting wistfully in the palace or something inane like that. *eye roll*

He was. I couldn't stop looking at him when he was on screen. This bothered me very much. lol

Yay! And wow, a Boxes 2? *___* Yay!

Aww, I feel so loved. :D After I get my challenges done, I'm picking my other stories from my other fandoms back up. I just needed a serious breather. I had to learn to pace myself with certain fandoms. lol

Oh, the boy that lost his head was horrible! He was so happy before that too. Then whoosh! And his head is gone.

I forgot to mention the queen. I did like her a lot, and yeah, her relationship with the king seemed solid. There was love there and she was obviously willing to do anything for him. I wanted to cheer when she stabbed that creep at the meeting. Scum bag!

Yep, there's a Boxes2. There's nice chunk written too but I'm lazy and easily distracted so it's been neglected far too long.

Breathers are good. You have to keep things fresh :)

Me and my mom still can't understand why the rest of the guys, especially his father didn't tell him to duck or anything. O___o They clearly had enough time to. :(

We cheered! Loudly. My mom was all like, "GET THAT SUCKA. CUT HIS THANG OFF! CUT HIS THANG OFF!" LOL I'll you know though, that we were giving a DVD copy of it, so this embarrassing spectacle could not be seen in the actual movie theater. LOL But I was more or less like, "Hell YEAH!"

I have a post apocalyptic one I keep poking at. I have to go through it make sense out of it somehow. LOL Hey, do you use aim? :)

I'm excited about it too! I just hope people write for us. I really need to post my own prompts. Problem is I want so much I can't make up my mind. I'm so greedy.

You've got it!

You haven't been on my flist long and you don't tend to post much personal related stuff, but I will tell you how much I admire you for writing in new areas. In the time I've know you you've tried new pairings and slash, and did it well. Your love for our fandom also shines, and you know, that's always cool. *mwah*

I'll definitely be writing. I may not get around to posting a prompt, but I will absolutely write. I can't pass up a chance to write happy fics! :)

And that's so sweet of you to say! I've found that it's so much easier to get my toes wet with new things here at lj, considering all the wonderful people in the fandom I have met that encourage that. Thanks! *snuggles*

*snicker* The picture of Chris in the red in your sidebar gave me a plot bunny of Chris being a famous and popular sombrero sales (company owner really) men in Mexico who sometimes gives away his beautiful hats to the poor in the barrio and when JC, a wealthy women's clothing (and lingerie lol) designer, comes to town for a fashion show, and decides to sneak away from his handlers and uptight agent (Lance lol) who is really, a longtime close friend who brought his boyfriend (Reichen) with him, he goes to the barrio because JC likes being around real people.

Suffice to say he runs into Chris with a silly sombrero on his head, dancing a jig, and shaking maracas in front of a large group of laughing children and is immediately intrigued. Even more so when he finds out who Chris is, and that Chris will be at the same fashion show. Chris intrigues JC so much that, JC thinks, perhaps, he and Chris should do the runway together because the hats are all made by Chris and his sisters and nieces and nephews. And also because JC thinks Chris is delectable. LOL

Sometime during their run in, JC complains that he has a line of clothing for skaters and punk rockers, but he can't think of a name. So for now it goes by UnTiTleD and if in the midst of tehir love affair does Chris happen to say something weird and crazy like 'FuManSkeeto' and JC happens to deem that the name of his line, who we to say it wasn't fated that way.

XDDD Sorry, just had to get that out. Your journal is ~~*~inspiring~*~~ /the scattered thoughts. lol

a) commenting about the meme
b) yes, 300 hundred is like that. I mean, I loved the comic, Frank Miller is my Elvis and all that crap, but the movie has no plot.
I agree with you.
I liked the movie for artistic reasons and i loved it the way it was translated from the comic pages to the screen, but in general? no, it doesn't have a plot. I drooled with the pretty men though.

Oh man, so you're a sucker for challenges, too! I was just saying to myself yesterday, 'Mette, seriously, enough is enough. No more fic challenges for you!' But they're so addictive! It's a curse, isn't it?

I will, however, totally be participating in [livejournal.com profile] sparklyglee. Both coming up with prompts and filling requests. Because everyone should want more happyfic!

Um. Wah. I always feel so weird answering to these kind of memes, but ... I mean, since you asked. *is completely shameless*

I didn't fill out that poll, because it was clearly a popslash one and I haven't read any popslash in ages (bad me). It didn't feel right for me to comment, but look at the icon and it tells you what my popslash OTP is :-).

Also, I know I'm not cool, but I like to think that you think I'm cool ;-).

300 was like a visual orgasm. During my midterm interview with my drawing teacher he asked if I had seen it and I said yes and he talked to me for about 15 minutes about its visual appeal and this and that-- I think it might have helped my grade *shifty eyes*

I also just got done reading through the [livejournal.com profile] sparklyglee prompts that I hadn't seen yet! How wonderful ^^ I am so excited to see which ones get picked. I hope it generates a lot of fiction :D

Ahh yes, that meme. I have a feeling I will be posting it quite soon. THere is no avoiding it!

Work ate my brain yesterday, so I missed your poll, but I will hie myself over to it forthwith. Because poll = OMGYAY and I am all about the OMGYAY.

Challenges, on the other hand? On the one hand, PLEASENOOOOOO, but on the other, I'd probably never write another story as long as I lived. Also, I love the part when you've finished the story and you feel so incredibly high and you can't sleep for hours because of the giddy. It's like a drug.

Dragon Challenge. Oh, right. Have sign ups started? Or, no, they can't be over yet, right? (I should be so lucky ...)
