Now I've got sparklyglee downtime for a while I was thinking about running a popfandom appreciation challenge. china_shop originally thought of the idea and there's a Supernatural version too. I don't see why the pop fandom can't play too.

Basically it runs for a week and each day you're challenged to do something to appreciate our fandom eg, feedback stories. I'd tweak the challenges to suit us, maybe one day ask people to post talking about their favourite footage, things like that.

It's a no stress honour based system and I'll totally organise it if people would play.

Don't sell yourself short! Someone needs to do the poking for things to be successful and it takes effort as well. :)

BTW, were you thinking about doing it here on your own journal or starting up a separate community like spn_appreciate? Because if you decide to go the community route or make some sort of masterlist, I'm offering my services for link-collecting and memory purposes.

A masterlist would be great, especially if people will be posting footage or recs or love letters and so on. I'll send you email on the challenges later, but yeah, I've got some ideas. :)

I think it might be a good idea to create a community that people can join because I think not everybody wants to friend somebody's personal journal just in order to be updated on a project like that. :) Plus it's easier to point people there.

On the other hand, quite a lot of popslashers are already reading your journal. :)

No, it's a good point. Especially as it would be easier to keep links, posts, comments etc separate in a community. I have no problem having it in my journal, but it would be squished in with the other drivel I post.

Now we just need a name.

I've yet to reply to your mail but I think the community would be a good idea. As for names, pop_appreciate? Or if we want to keep it shorter, poplove or pop_love? I don't know.

The good thing about a community is that if we wanted to run the challenge again later, all the groundwork would be there and available.

So many people do so many wonderful things, being able to say thank you for that is wonderful.

I probably won't participate, over-committed, work hell, etc. etc., but I have a little Excel spreadsheet (nothing special or fancy) that I used to tally everyone's points and track participation and would be happy to send you a copy if you like.
