turps: (Chris/Chris head go boom! (bettina))
[personal profile] turps
A few weeks back I asked people to give me recs for stories they thought showed good Chris, and they did. Below the cut is all the recs I was given, and I'm stressing they're from others, not me. My ego isn't so big I'd rec myself ;)

Thank you to everyone that gave me recs, and may I say, it's wonderful to have timbertrick represented so well. Usually that's a pairing that suffers when I ask these things. Sadly, this time it was Choey that lost out. *pets the choey*

If I've messed up links or put stories in the wrong group let me know. I'll get that changed.

Other than that, check them out, read and enjoy. If I was given a reason for the rec I included that, if not, all you get is the rec.

Trickc

Promise Now, Promise Forever ~~ [livejournal.com profile] mickeym --- i swear to god i am tearing up over right now. *loves*
Nothing ~~ [livejournal.com profile] silveryscrape
30 Kisses ~~ [livejournal.com profile] turps33
Boxes ~~ [livejournal.com profile] turps33
The Book of Secrets ~~ [livejournal.com profile] rhyssj -- has always been special to me, the first epic!TrickC I ever read
One Simple Truth this sold me on the pairing
It Was a Clear and Moonlit Night ~~ [livejournal.com profile] ninjetti75 -- is Chris-focused, at least in the big ending
Summer Song ~~ [livejournal.com profile] topaz119 -- AU in Chris POV.
Pacific -- the broad scope of exploring + the broad scope of romantic epic
Spill
Marked ~~ [livejournal.com profile] silveryscrape
Wolves and Boybands Mate for Life ~~ [livejournal.com profile] merryish
And the remix of the above. ~~ [livejournal.com profile] giogio
So Wrong txt ~~ [livejournal.com profile] ukcalico
Ascension ~~ [livejournal.com profile] kaneko
Something More ~~ [livejournal.com profile] sola_fiamma -- because it has a self-sabotaging, witty, nasty, funny Chris tormenting both himself and Lance. And there's some TrickC in there too.
Magnetic like Poetry ~~ [livejournal.com profile] jchalo -- Chris is annoying. Specifically he's annoying JC. And I love it.
The Dark Side is Sparkly ~~ [livejournal.com profile] china_shop -- With zombie cheerleaders and TrickC fleeing!
A Person of Simple Tastes ~~ [livejournal.com profile] stubbleglitter JC slutfic
Absinthe Makes the Heart Grow Fonder ~~ [livejournal.com profile] mickeym and [livejournal.com profile] nopseud -- 3,318,000 of sweet, confused and blistering TrickC. Yes I've read it six or seven times more than once. Yes it really is that long. And that good. Button meet kink
The Legendary Grapefruits of Southern California ~~ [livejournal.com profile] flambeau -- The story that cemented my TrickC love. Kinda like those boots supplied by the mafia before they toss you into the harbour.
Whisper -- Protective Chris. In his own special way. What? I can't hear you

Trickyfish

The Long Run ~~ [livejournal.com profile] wearemany -- ....sucked me into fandom before i even knew who any of these guys really were. to this day, i can't even think about it for too long without getting all choked up!
Heart of Stone, Eye of Tree -- Chris in the sparkly version of Tam Lin [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic
Madchen ~~ [livejournal.com profile] wearemany -- because it hits every genderfukt kink I own. Holy Guh Batman!
Songs About LA ~~ [livejournal.com profile] phaballa -- has an incredibly jaded, bitter, aimless Chris hating everything about LA. It's wonderful and horrible simultaneously.
This Time [livejournal.com profile] patchworkdragon -- I just like all of these because they show a 'real' Chris. Not a fantasied version. They just want to make me hug him and read more. Same reason for Boxes and The Long Run.
Always Known ~~ [livejournal.com profile] turps33 -- a great Chris - fun and impossible and complicated
Stupid Mouth ~~ -- I love Chris and his relationship with the other guys in this story
Stealth ~~ [livejournal.com profile] giddygeek
Spectacle ~~ [livejournal.com profile] giddygeek -- totally in denial Chris is so much fun
Something to Say ~~ [livejournal.com profile] synchronik
Trade ~~ [livejournal.com profile] synchronik
Sleep Good ~~ [livejournal.com profile] bard_mercutio -- because Chris-the-cats rules!
The Virgin Bass Ass ~~ [livejournal.com profile] bard_mercutio -- Chris-in-denial and Chris-on-a-mission rolled into one, wheee!
Two Straight Guys In Wisconsin ~~ [livejournal.com profile] rhyssj -- I love Chris' interior "voice", he's just so absurd and neurotic and fun
Backwards ~~ [livejournal.com profile] rhyssj -- another of her great Chrises
The Rental Property ~~ [livejournal.com profile] merryish
Find You Out
Body ~~ [livejournal.com profile] rhyssj
Kink ~~ [livejournal.com profile] rhyssj
Rumour ~~ [livejournal.com profile] ukcalico
Under My Skin ~~ [livejournal.com profile] sola_fiamma -- obsessed with Lance but heroically trying to resist :-)
Doorways ~~ [livejournal.com profile] sirkate
Buoyancy -- I have no words for this because it made me flail that much. More protective Chris

Choey

Slim Fast ~~ [livejournal.com profile] rhyssj -- so sexy and hot and just, guh.
Optimistic ~~ [livejournal.com profile] jae_w -- Joey is going through a divorce and a biography of his life is obviously the answer. And because the ending makes me cry with sad happiness.
Mysterious Ways ~~ [livejournal.com profile] pierson
Party Like It's Nineteen Ninety-Nine ~~ [livejournal.com profile] nopseud -- Because in the middle of the end of the world, Joey is focused on the really important thing, namely, Is Chris gay?
Imaginary Boyfriend ~~ Tracy -- Because there's nothing more heartbreaking that Chris realizing he's got everything he wished, and it's not at all what he wanted.

Timbertrick

Reentry -- learning how to fit back together again
But in the Quiet -- justin can't talk, and chris talks around him
It Makes Me Ill -- early asshole detection warning system
The Window -- curiosity nearly kills the cripple
His to Take -- i can't even give any pithy summary here b/c it's so hot it melted my synapses
Bring it Down to Loserville -- crappy jobs sound romantic on paper
Papertrails -- chris & justin as distilled through print
Toasted ~~ [livejournal.com profile] ukcalico
Borne
Just Another Drunken Bet ~~ [livejournal.com profile] i_naiad -- which manages to explain both SexyBack and ManBand.
Grow ~~ [livejournal.com profile] glendaglamazon

Odds and Sods.

Not the Reel Nsync -- another great Chris ~~ [livejournal.com profile] nopseud
the earl of rothinghamtonfordshire ~~ [livejournal.com profile] jae_w -- the best romance novel ever!
Cold Hearted ~~ [livejournal.com profile] jae_w
Epic of the Lambs ~~ [livejournal.com profile] withdiamonds Lambs but with good Chris.
Fool for Lesser Things ~~ Chris/Joey/Lance [livejournal.com profile] rhyssj -- Threesome!!!!! And I had to recommend at least ONE of Rhys' fics
Uninvited ~~ [livejournal.com profile] lucy_fic -- Because there's nothing cuter than a totally clueless Chris, between Nick and Joey.
Plan A ~~ [livejournal.com profile] arsenicjade -- Because this one proves that nothing, nothing stands between Chris and whoever he wants. Not even said whoever.

Promise Now, Promise forever is probably my very very favoritest TrickC ever. Like ever ever (and yes, [livejournal.com profile] mickeym knows this. hee!). Second to that? Is Absinthe. Hm. Do we see a pattern here? ;-)

Wonderful list!

I always find it so interesting that some stories that make me shudder [in the bad way] are loved so adamantly by others. I even see some titles I've not read! Thanks for doing this.

[also, you need to separate Backwards and The Rental Property, it shows as one link.]

I knew you wouldn't like one. I'll have to hit you up for the others one day.

No worries about doing it. I'm sure people get sick of the pics.

Thanks for the coding heads up too.

I'm pretty sure I've read everything on this list at least once. But hey, checking will be wonderful!

Oh and for the Choey...
* Like A Big Pizza Pie () - Because they’re such boys together. Incompetent, loving, idiot boys. And the dialogue in this could out sparkle the Kohinoor. So so pretty.
* Optimistic (http://www.juppy.org/santa/stories.php?ForAuthorID=56&Year=2006) - Joey is going through a divorce and a biography of his life is obviously the answer. And because the ending makes me cry with sad happiness.

One Simple Truth this sold me on the pairing

thank you so much :)

I'd like to share with you a 'more updated' link -- I found an error in the SESA story that I couldn't correct later :-/ One Simple Truth (http://www.because-yes.com/discoball/stories/onesimpletruth.html) (the accurate version ;) ).
