turpsI'm here to ask a favour of the graphically minded people. You may remember me mentioning I was thinking of running a pop fandom appreciation challenge. Well, I've gone and set up a comm pop_appreciate. If you look over there you'll see what the challenge is about, but basically what I wanted to do is to give something back to the pop fandom, because I think it's awesome. I don't know if anyone will join or take part, but I do know showing appreciation is never wrong.
What I'd love is if someone could make me an icon, and maybe a header to make the comm look pretty. If a header is too much trouble, an icon would be excellent.
Up to now I'm planning to start the challenge in a few weeks, which gives time for pimping. So feel free to go see, though there's nothing to see there at the moment.

msktrnanny wrote me something that I wanted to rec but her post was flocked. But she said I could post it here, so behind the cut is a ficlet that relates to the whole Lance thing in my last post.
He turned towards the loudest voice, dazzling smile in place. He even waved. It was his job, playing the part. Look happy to have all the attention, play up to the photogs. Lance's face was on every celebrity gossip site on the web and always in the magazines. Face time, as his agent called it, was money. Another barrage of voices came at him and Lance turned, arm around his date and smiled again. Dozens of flash bulbs went off.
His date, not famous enough to be accustomed to all the attention, whispered to Lance. "How do you do this every night?"
Lance leaned in to answer. The paparazzi were crazy for it, the implied intimacy, the possible secrets. Shutters clicked all over. It was the shot that would be everywhere in just an hour or so. "You learn to adjust. You'll get it eventually."
They repeated variations of the scene all along the red carpet, even stopping to do two on camera interviews, LOGO and the newly launched OUT!, and a short radio bite, Advocate Radio. They had the usual questions about what gay rights cause Lance was lending his name to this week, yes, I'm still pushing for same sex marriage privelages, and did he know his approval rating in straight women 18-34 had gone up yet again? Lance smiled at that, making a light joke about how many of those women wouldn't haven given him the time of day when he was straight, well playing straight you know how it was, seemed they liked him better gay, we're more attractive, don't you know. The Advocate Radio interviewer never knew what hit him.
The lights flickered a few times and the celebs started to get rounded up and hurried inside. Lance was ushered to his front row seat, some one asking him quietly if he needed anything to drink. Somebody else came over to look for possible shiny patches and yet another to remind him that a paige would be out to collect him for his turn to present. They all scurried off as the music began and Lance clapped along with everyone else, smile replaced with a quickly blown kiss to the camera as it panned by.
Through the introduction Lance laughed and clapped and took the mention of his name in great stride until the lights finally went down and the film began to show. The audience was engrossed by the story, rich images and heart-wrenching music. Then and only then did he allow himself to close his eyes, slide the perfect smile off his face and dream of the days when his sexuality was just something a small percentage of his fanbase wondered about.
Talking of my last post. I want to thank everyone for discussing so calmly. I tend to stay on the fence because to put it simply, I'm a wuss. Even though people have been discussing things in a very interesting way, I always expect to be defriended.
Okay, back to remix I go. I'm so close to finishing. Then new Hustle at nine. YAY!
