So it looks like I've joined another fandom. But one that embarrasses me a little to be in and a load of people think is wrong and immoral. I couldn't fall for SV or something, no I had to fall into the sparkly side.
I wonder how some people can be totally loyal to one fandom, and only read/write in that one, and some seem to be fandom whores. I class myself the second way to some extent. I do find new fandoms and always have a few on the go at once, but I still remain active in my main fandoms.
One of my friends is totally loyal. She moved from TS to MX and even though we talk a lot, she has no interest in what I'm writing in TS, it's MX or nothing.
I class myself as active in TS and MX, because I post fic there and maintain web sites for both. I don't post to lists as much, because there's some scary people in TS and I've learned it's better to keep your mouth shut. I post in MX but as it's so small that could amount to a couple of posts a month if that. However in that fandom all the weird fans seem to gravitate to me. Once you put your name and addy on an archive just watch the strange mails flock in.
It makes me wonder how people that write in multi fandoms cope.
Now, I've an interview to answer and one to give. I'm hiding in the house today as it's so hot that I don't want to go out until later unless I can help it.

fandom faithfulness
Date: 2003-08-05 06:31 am (UTC)well, let's just say I am faithful to my one fandom, that's all, because I'm just lazy in a way. Plus, in HP there are so many characters that you can pretty much pick whatever pairing you like - I'm not faithful to one pairing only though, it depends on my mood. I'm strick on a) smut, b) HP fandom, but apart from that...
Re: fandom faithfulness
Date: 2003-08-05 12:23 pm (UTC)Just watch, one day I'll be pestering you about HP recs *g*
Re: fandom faithfulness
Date: 2003-08-05 12:40 pm (UTC)*eg* well, whenever you feel like it, I have tons of dark fics to recommend/send you *takes notebook out* whenever you're ready, girl, my kinky suit and I are waiting for you!
scary people
Date: 2003-08-05 11:55 am (UTC)well, if you think there are some scary people in TS, let me tell you: TS is practically all vanilla and fluff compared with what goes on in the LotR/Elija Wood-corner.
People get threatened (death threats even) for having different opinions on the *true* relationship Elija and Dom may have. It's scary, really, really scary.
*Pat shakes her head*. I *knew* there was a reason why I never felt a tug to go over in RPS.

Re: scary people
Date: 2003-08-05 12:20 pm (UTC)There are some scary people in TS. *Not* on the lists that I'm on I have to say, I've been treated with nothing but kindness and respect by them. There's just one person that really gets my back up. But even then that's nothing to what's happening in LOTR fandom. That's left such a nasty taste in my mouth. Then I was reading how Lanning was treated by Highlander fans, there's no need for it at all. I love fandom mostly, but sometimes it's a dark scary place.
Nice to see you back btw *g*
am curious...
Date: 2003-08-05 12:23 pm (UTC)*casually* not that i'm curious or anything but what fandom are you talking about? come on, nothing to be ashamed of - is this some Winnie the Pooh slash?
Re: am curious...
Date: 2003-08-05 12:34 pm (UTC)ROTFLMAO. Babycakes, I'm glad I wasn't drinking there, I'd be choking on the floor *g*
Nope, not Winnie slash, though I have read that
I'm so ashamed. It's rps/boyband/popslash. Specifically of the Backstreet Boys Nsync kind. It just embarrasses me to admit to it as it sounds such a teeny thing to obsess about, boybands, but I do like them. And they touch *all* the time. The pictures are enough to make you want to constantly drool. But I know that a lot of people are really opposed to rps, and in some ways I agree. I could never slash Garett and Richard from TS for instance. But boybands...oh man, I'm gone about them.
And now I'm telling you way more than you asked for, so I'll shut up *g*
Re: am curious...
Date: 2003-08-05 12:45 pm (UTC)And honestly, I don't see how it's worse to slash boysbands than something else, because the people they're on stage are not really them, it's character (like Eminem who acts sometimes as Slim Shady, but who really is Marshall Mathers)... am I making sense? You're not slashing them, you're slashing their public persona, that's different.
Now, if you were pairing them with a poodle...
>>>And now I'm telling you way more than you asked for, so I'll shut up *g*>>>
no you're not - if I were easily squicked, I wouldn't cruise LJs *g*
