The day four challenge at pop_appreciate was to rec something.

I wasn't sure what to pick at first. My top stories have remained the same for a while, and I'm sure most people know what they are. But for those that don't.

The Wednesday Thing. This is my comfort story. It's bleak and it hurts to read, but it's also about friendship and love. Lance is wonderful in it, and Justin. Man, toward the end where he tells Chris he'd carry him if he could. The love! It's just. I adore them so.

Into the Fire This is such an awesome AU. Set in a magical world, Kevin is a hunter, but while his character is amazing, it's the Ravens I adore. They're a shape changing race, and Chris and JC are ravens. Linda does such an amazing job describing them, dark eyes and silver in JC's hair. But it's the bond between them that gets me. Chris is hurt in a fight and he tells JC to leave him, of course JC doesn't, and later he tells Chris if he ever tells him to leave again he'll kill him, and just. The love!

Absinthe Makes the Heart Grow Fonder. Nopseud and Mickeym posted this at their comm, and man, that time rocked! Waiting for each part, I was pulled right in. There's kink and sex and freak outs and angst and one of the most satisfying wonderful endings ever. One that makes me sniffle each time I read.

Then I decided to rec some footage I love. I'm going to start with some BSB and their performance of Don't Want You Back. If you're on trumpeterofdoom's flist you will have seen this a few days ago, so sorry for that, but man. Kevin is amazing in this. HE WRITHES ON THE LADDER/POLE THING! WRITHES! If you can watch this and not be amazed at his writhing, well all I can say is you're blind. WRITHING! BY KEVIN! ON THE POLE/LADDER THING!

The next one is the making of no strings.In it Justin says if they weren't in Nsync they'd be in some college fraternity together causing trouble, and of course you would be J! Bless his little heart, you know he's all about the college AU. Also, Chris is just adorable and I want to squish him. I want to squish them all. I love them!

Last one. It was hard to pick but I went for the 2000 MTV video music awards. This performance is awesome! Chris' shirt! The screens! The orgasm faces! Hey ladies! Joey's thighs! JC dancing. Just damn!

It will never cease to amaze me that you think of The Wednesday Thing as a comfort story. To me it's about as far from a comfort story you can get while still being fiction! Which just goes to show how different two people can be while still actually loving a lot of the same things :-)

I know it's a weird choice for a comfort fic. It's so damn depressing and I totally understand your reasons for not wanting to re read. But to me it's a story about love and friendship, showing that as bad as things get they can get better.

Absinthe and The Wednesday Thing are two of my all time fave fics, so I'm thinking I should check out that other one you recced.

The VMA performance (if it's the one with the tv screens that then breaks into that crazy hip hopish version of It's Gonna Be Me?) is my favorite all time media footage of them. I ADORE that dance at the end. I love Joey hamming it up for the camera, I love JC's hip thrusts, I love Chris starting it off, I love the panting at the end... I just love the whole thing!! (And if I'm thinking of the wrong performance, ignore me plz) ((btw, that vma download link is being funny))
