Jul. 17th, 2007 11:34 amI've just come back from Corey's leaving assembly for primary school. It was wonderful. The kids scripted and acted it themselves and it was based on Dr Who going through different eras. There were three Cybermen dancing sixties style, the world cup being won, so much stuff. Though the boy who was dressed in a spotty dress to become one half of Mel and Kim from the eighties brought the house down with his wild dancing.
Then it was the end, all the kids were on stage and sang Take That's Never Forget, and just, I've watched them grow over the last seven years, longer for some who went to Corey's playgroup and nursery. They're all growing up and were singing about memories and I couldn't help getting all teary. Not helped that Corey did the same. He's so sensitive and obviously got hit with the fact they're leaving. He was dabbing at his eyes with his tie, but his friend looked after him until he got off stage then the headmistress looked after him.
I remember his first nativity play in reception class. Corey was a sheep with a little black nose wearing a woolly tabard, then seven years later he's standing there in his shirt and tie.
It's been a wonderful school. We'll miss it.
