I think Jeff made a good point. Performing at the half time show was insane when they hadn't even sung together more than a handful of times. I mean, the first time it was mentioned they hadn't sung together at all. It's nuts, sure they got exposure, but it was of totally the wrong kind. They all knew they were going to get booed, and of course they did, leading to the saddest picture in the world!

What I'm most surprised at is how much I like Bryan. Out of them all he seems the most damaged, and I ached for him when he went to the photo shoot and he said they wouldn't have clothes to fit him. Then the whole drinking thing. I know there was a lot of negativity that Chris held a party despite Bryan admitting to being sober for only 2 months, and I get that. But I think there's a problem in definition here. Chris said he was a recovering alcoholic, and maybe he is, but his problems seem to be different to Bryan's. In that Bryan's problems were more visual and immediate and were hurting him and his family, and he admits that.

Obviously I can't say what Chris was thinking, but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't realise at that time how bad Bryan's problems were. Chris is surrounded by people who drink and party and I suspect he treated Bryan the same way he does his friends, which was the wrong approach to take, and I think he realised that.

The scenes where Chris was facing Bryan about his drinking hurt to see, and I have so much admiration for Bryan that he allowed that to be shown. I can't imagine facing up to those kind of problems while watched by a camera. Especially away from his friends and family, because he's known the other three all of a few days. Bryan isn't a clown at all. He's anything but. I just hope that he wasn't railroaded into airing his demons like he did, and he was allowed the choice to veto scenes if wanted.

I was commenting to brighton_girl about how some of the show seems staged. That wouldn't surprise me at all. The X Factor started here this week and it was revealed that some of that show was staged so key scenes could be filmed. I think that's the case here. I wouldn't be surprised if the four have been directed to an extent. Not what they're doing as such, but re doing conversations if the cameras didn't catch them the first time. Like Bryan throwing away the Jack. Admission here, I saw that and laughed because all I could think was someone boating on the lake and a bottle zooming out of the darkness and clocking them on the head.

Other things. When Chris stepped onto the set for the photo shoot I almost swallowed my tongue. Just damn. *fans self*

It's interesting to see how the body language differs between these guys and Nsync. I know Sureshot have been together days at this point, but they're very much four separate individuals formed into one group, as opposed to Nsync who always seem as one to me. Even now when Nsync are apart they seem more connected that these four do. That may change, and I hope it does. I miss the lack of personal space, the lounging on one another and casual touching. Though Chris gets a good start by draping himself over Rich at the photoshoot.

I did like Miss Katie better this time. I still think her plan for the half time show sucks, but I agree, names like Plan B aren't good at all.



In conclusion. Love the song. Bryan is becoming an actual person to me, and Chris remains the most beautiful man in the world!

It's a show called Mission Manband. Basically they took four ex boyband members and shoved them together in a new group. It was done for VH1 and they all stayed at Chris' house while they put together songs, did promo etc.

It's great in one way. I mean, it's Chris, and seeing him sing again is wonderful, plus the whole nosiness factor of seeing his house, but on the other sometimes it seems they're setting them up to fail and are pushing the washed up boybander thing.

Their manager got them a gig singing at the half time show of a basketball game, this was before they had a song, a name, or had even sung together, so it was never going to go well. Then Bryan admitted to being an alcoholic who went off the wagon at a party Chris threw and it was just so sad seeing him confronted, the cameras seeing every moment. Like he was airing all his demons in public, and that really wasn't the best place.

I mean, Chris is a millionaire and admitted be mainly did this because he was bored. The others not so much.

It's compelling tv, but sometimes you're watching for the wrong reasons.

Still, it gives me new Chris, which is always good.

Chris was really good with Bryan here - getting all the alcohol out of the house was a good thing to do, and that chucking the whiskey into the lake business was a nice touch. And doing it in the dark, outside, was much kinder than the "let's sit down in front of the cameras and have a little chat" thing. A definite *hearts Chris* moment. I wondered, I'm afraid, whether the timeline had got messed with and that had happened *before* the session where they all heard the song. Hope not.

I feel a rather detached sympathy for Bryan; being in such a pressured situation, and wanting the fame and the money back to succeed so much has got to be very hard on an alcoholic. Wasn't as entertained by Rich in this installment, though he gets points for Boyband Posing. And still want to slap Jeff quite hard with a large wet haddock. He's always whining and asserting that he doesn't want to do whatever, and then doing it anyway. It's not attractive. Chris, by contrast, came right out and made it clear that he wanted someone else to blame if the half-time gig went badly...

If Chris was actually looking po-faced because he didn't like the song, I have quite a bit of sympathy with him.

He was good with him. I've seen a lot of comments about how wrong Chris was to hold that party with Bryan in the house, something I agree with to an extent. So seeing him in this part, just being there and sympathetic is good.

I'm surprised how much I sympathised with Bryan, I mean, before Manband I didn't have a clue who he was and didn't care to. I keep thinking about his comment about the clothes and wanting to hug him.

Rich rocked the boyband posing, but gah, Jeff always rubs me up the wrong way. If he hates the situation so much why did he join up?

My whole thing with the Chris and Bryan and drinking thing...

Bryan was in a new environment surrounded by people and a situation that was new to him. He was nervous and under a lot of pressure that he hasn't felt in a long time.

BUT . . .

Bryan is the one responsible for Bryan staying sober. Not Chris. Getting rid of the alcohol in the house was a good move on Chris's part, but... If Bryan had felt he couldn't handle a party like that THAT soon after getting sober, he should have gone to Chris and said so. Somehow, I have a feeling Chris wouldn't have had it if Bryan had. ;-) It's not up to Chris (or Rich or Jeff) to monitor Bryan. It's Bryan's disease, it's his responsibility to handle it. (says she that is married to the alcoholic husband)

Exactly!

You've managed to simply say what I ramble on about.

It's Bryan's problem and he has to handle his own drinking. It doesn't matter what anyone else does or says, ultimately it's up to him. I've seen so many comments saying how bad it was that Chris had that party, and I think they're assigning the blame to the wrong person.

I do feel sorry for Bryan, but if he can't say no, well he's going to have problems.

And also? I really really do not want to see this week's when they get booed. NOOOO

They totally are. The only person to blame in that situation is Bryan.

And I totally understand. Do you know how much stuff we've missed out on? (Lots of company stuff) And it was for the same reason - DH wasn't sure he could handle it, so we AVOIDED the situation.

If Bryan had done that, no one would have thought less of him.

I like Bryan too myself. He's my 2nd favorite (3 guesses to my 1st? Heh.).

I think that like all reality shows, even this one is staged. Some of it feels too...formal?

I really agree with your comment about the chemistry. I was noticing that. Chris seems comfortable with these guys, but not *NSYNC-comfortable; and I don't think he ever will because while the Sureshot guys are good, the *NSYNC boys are great, you know? *sigh*

I agree, it was insane to make them perform after so little rehearsal time, and for me that just underlines something that makes me kind of angry at VH1: that despite what they say on the show, it's not about creating a successful band. It's about creating a dramatic and successful TV show, preferably as cheaply as possible. So if they can save money by filming over such a short time and giving the guys so little practice time for everything, then they'll do that. And if sending the group out to a hostile audience with inadequate preparation makes for strong emotions and dramatic scenes, then, well, they won't shy away from that either. So I think it's crazy in one way, but sadly, sadly, not that surprising in another.

OMG though Chris looked superhot in the photoshoot! I was sorry to hear him say he hated them so much, since I adore the boyband photoshoot as an art form.

You're so right. I like reality tv shows and watch a lot of them, but that doesn't mean I can't see how manipulative they can be. This one seems especially so. They were thrown to the wolves without adequate practice, it was inevitable what would happen.

It's sad in a way, I mean, they have four talented men and they're treated like they're nothing. It's to their credit that they came out with songs that have the potential to be good.

I know! I love the boyband photoshoot. I love seeing them and reading about them. I console myself by thinking Chris would love them with his 'real' band.

I'm surprised how much I do like Bryan. Until a few months ago I hadn't even heard of him, or his band. Now I'm rooting for him to do well.

I don't think he ever will because while the Sureshot guys are good, the *NSYNC boys are great, you know?

I know exactly what you mean. Nsync are special, and they have a bond that reflect that. I can't see that being duplicated.
