I thought we could get back into discussing Nsync and BSB's video's again. It was fun last we did it, and spawned the boyband forest of doom!

Doing this sort of logically, let's start with I Want You Back. The American version first.

My immediate thoughts, I love this video! It's got the Chris era that I adore, and I'll be honest. I spend a lot of time just watching him, but I'll drag my eyes away to look at the others.

It starts with the moody girl on her bike, then a high shot of Nsync, showing how fine they look from above. A shot of their name, because remember, this is an early video and we may not know who they are yet.

Lance's smile! JC smile! Joey smile! Chris' sm... oh wait. Not a smile as such. Chris is doing some demented arm movement, which Justin copies later which surely shouts Timbertrick! Yes, I know. My spot in hell is reserved for me.

Pretty boys! Pretty boys dancing on a wet cobbled street in front of a silvery back ground. OKay then! Pretty boys playing pool! They let JC drive? Then JoLa! Timbertrick basketball!

There's a part of the basketball scenes at 58 seconds and Justin does this smile, and Chris is laughing at him and oh my goodness I love them so much!

The flips!

So is JC stalking that girl? And if he is, surely it's better to do so without four other people in the car with him. Though I suppose he needs an audience for his fist clenching ANGST!

Oh wait, they're not in the car. What's JC done with them? Or is it suggesting that Lance and Joey are having fun on jet skies and Justin and Chris playing basket ball while poor JC angsts over his lost love? Some friends they are!

Okay, I'm good. There's a lot of trickc shots in this. Chris is now dancing against JC's side, I approve of this. If your friend has lost the girl the best thing to do is distract him with your sexy self.

See, next shot they're all in the car and JC's happy. He's got good friends. Very good friends, if you know what I mean.

Justin's just threw water all over Chris. Bad Justin. Bad! I love you!

Wait, Justin's angsting now. Isn't that JC's girlfriend? Has there been a kinky threesome going on? Is Justin just pretending to be a big boy and copying JC's angst? Answers on a postcard please.

YAY! 3.06 and Chris grabs JC in the background of the pool dancing scene.

So, what do you all think? Do you like the video? Is that JC's girlfriend? Or are they just stalking a random emo girl on a bike? Why the silvery thing on the wet street. How can Chris be so damn hot? Can the JoLa be more blatant?

In conclusion. I like this video, a lot.

I'm at work, so I can't watch the video and participate fully, but I can say that this was the first *NSYNC video I ever saw, and my best friend and I spent AGES mocking them for trying to be the new Take That. And then we decided that we liked the song a lot, but thought they were all ugly except Lance. Lance was hot. ALSO, this was the video that fueled my months-long dislike of JC (!!!), because I thought he looked like a terrible, stuck-up, boring jock.

Ha ha ha ha.

Now, of course, I think they are all adorable, ESPECIALLY JC, OMG!!!!!!

I have said it before... this is the gayest video that's not supposed to be gay at all, ever! I agree with your assessment. Joey and Lance clearly don't care what's going on with this female person. They just want to Ride It together. Justin and Chris love basketball! And spitting water on each other! Which is not a metaphor at ALL!

turloughishere and I watched quite a lot of sparkly music videos last weekend, and noticed a trend where they're supposed to be missing a girl, but actually have much more fun with each other. They have a lot of those, both nsync and BSB.

Chris and Lance are super hot in this!

okay, 1st, the mylar screen of much rippling shiny goodness trumps near on everything there. I was always under the impression the early videos that weren't clearly One Cohesive Story were to set up the personalities of the individuals. JC is the daddy figure as depicted by his corduroy jacket, being the driver and the girlfriend. Chris is the crazy one: he steals basketballs and plays air guitar fleetingly on his pool cue. Justin is the jock soon to be pretty boy front man [who waisted opportunityyyyyyyyy! oops, sorry. Still riding on RENT.]. Lance is the shy guy in the background all the time and Joey. What was Joey's thing anyway?

And what is with JC always being the driver anyway?? Chris would have been driving longer and I'm sure Joey had his license. Maybe even Lance. [I'm BAD at years for this stuff]. Was he the only trustworthy driver amongst them?

I remember feeling bad for them that they had to dance on that cobblestone street, so uneven and harsh on the foot when just walking! I still don't like the song, even after years in fandom. I'm pretty sure my sparkly card will be recalled at any moment for admitting that in a public forum, lol. One last thing to say though:

I can only echo what rikes already said, the singing of missing some girl and the showing of boys having so much fun together JUST DON'T ADD UP :-) Also that Lance and Joey and Chris look soooo good in this video!! (And it's not only JoLa and Threemanbus, there's a Very Nice Lance/Joey/Chris moment almost at the end of the video :-)

I have to agree with everyone else, the video is clearly a love song TO EACH OTHER YAYS. Also, JC used to drive all the time! e.g. the car chase on mountain roads with Lance at his side! But perhaps I'm getting ahead of things there.

This doesn't surprise me at all. I'll have to do a count at the end of each video. See how many do have them missing a girl while crawling over one another. The number will be high I feel.

It does. It's just so random, and the cobbles really do look dangerous with their ankle twisting ways. But, I suppose it's all about the look. However weird that is.

I think you're right about the video setting up their personalties. Though knowing JC it's amusing that he gets the day in his corduroy jacket role. Hmmm, you know, Joey doesn't seem to have a role, unless it's the fun loving guy. He seems to spend most of the video flying around on a jet ski looking hot.

It was mentioned down the thread that JC always drives, and I don't get it either. Unless the thought of putting Chris behind the wheel caused the offical dudes to break out in a cold sweat.

LAte here, but I have to say this was my "OMG Chris and Joey look HOT together video", it was when I saw the Choey first, and to this date, I keep seeing it as a Choey video, I sort of edit everything else :P

What I really find funny is that I had totally forgotten that there was a girl on the video! Early boyband videos tended not to have girls at all, and to this date, I still wonder about that.

So I'm late. Sorry. Been going through pop_newsletter's editions (how did I not know about that place/this fandom existed in the open I don't know) but here I am. Huzzah.

I remember this video. I wondered how they got a piece of tinfoil that large for the background.
And then Chris, Joey, JC came on screen and I gave up the wonderings of the tinfoil.
This is also where the Justin!hate started. Ugh. He annoys me.
I also felt a pang of sorry for the other blond guy. I had a feeling that he wasn't getting much love. So he was added to me "squeee" list. Even though I could never remember his name, which irked me.

DUDE. I was working on my TrickC vid, and I was looking for possible clips from this MV and um. It kind of came to me that the girl, in the passenger seat with JC driving, is kind of Justin. No, really! In two official videos where JC is driving, Justin is the one riding in passenger seat, and there are all these flashes of Justin in the passenger seat to JC's girl sitting there instead, and it's all weird and unintentionally "this girl is a stand-in for my boyfriend until he comes of age" gay. *giggles helplessly* I kind of had to run back here and share that with you, though I'm sure hundreds have noticed it before me and I'm very late to the party. But who cares? It makes this video THAT MUCH MORE sparkly.
