I Want You Back. European version
Aug. 23rd, 2007 02:52 pmFirst of all, to get it out of my system. OMG, they're so skinny!
Okay, let's look at this. We start with Justin he wanders forward, his little face all woeful as he leans against some sort of invisible screen. Justin the mime for the win! The others, meanwhile, are behind him showing they've got his back. They're all staring into space too, as if pondering about lost loves. But ignore Justin, go on, I know you can do it. Watch the four behind. How unconvincing are they with their little head bobs?
The shot pulls back and we see they're on some kind of space station. I guess this could be set in the future where skin tight clothes are compulsory and all women are planetside while the men are sent away, which of course means they have to console themselves in their own special way.
Justin's wearing a fetching blue unitard thing with a zip at the top, and this gives me the weird mental image of them being fastened into the things, because man, those poppers are vicious in the wrong hands. Joey's in a white unitard, because he's all virginal, Lance is orange and Chris and JC in black because they're MFEO.
There's a long shot of them dancing, then we see Justin again, still singing about needing someone back. The other four are dancing behind him, though man, it's the most awkward dancing ever.
We then have a quick costume change, with shiny jackets, because they're cool! Almost as cool as skin tight unitards!
44 seconds and they do the simultaneous hip roll hand movement. You know the one, the one which is a cross between a daisychain and train action. Just. Glee!
Then we have a shot looking up from the floor, because we all need a crotch shot.
Oh man, Chris. You can open your arms and purse your lips like that anytime!
1:02 We have the woman flying into bits, and just, why!? Why do we need her? It doesn't make sense. Five hot guys on a deserted space station trying to get into contact with a woman who keeps flying apart. Why? Why do that?
WE HAVE FLIPS! Man, I love the flips so much. I love Nsync so much.
The part where they're walking along the corridor and Justin is busting a move cracks me up. It's such a Justin move.
Trickc singing! Be still my heart!
Literal choreography for the win! In fact I like the choreography for this a lot. It's cheesy as heck, but it's just them. A lot of it looks like they were told to just freestyle in the background, and it leads to a lot of dad dancing.
We have Lance and Chris kneeling, the others looking over them. I know it's to get them into shot, but still. It's also Lance and Chris that take over the computer to try and get contact back with the woman. Not that they try that hard, obviously they're scrambling the signals. Oh, unless it's some kind of transporter and they're actually scrambling her. Justin and JC want her back, Chris and Lance think that's a bad idea because hello! They've got a good thing going on this deserted space station, they don't need no stinking women. So they make her disappear, her atoms flying into space. Which leads to GSF!
You know, that would be an interesting AU challenge. Assign a video and write the story behind it. This one would be hot spacestation GSF!
But back to the vid. The jumping with floppy arms! Did I say that I love them? Because I do.
Ahahahaha. The end line, them all singing I want you back, and Joey's got his arm draped over Lance's shoulder. I know who they want back, and it isn't that girl.
I do like this version. It has a space station which is always cool, and Chris looks damn good again. There's cool synchronised dancing, possible killing of women, and interesting fashion choices. Justin looks like jail bait. I love Joey's floppy hair and JC is very JC like. Lance sadly fails looks wise in this one, but he does get a starring role at the computer. I'm not sure which one I like the best.
So, what do you all think? Do you like this one, and is it better than the US version? Not that you have to answer, looking at the pretty is fine too.

The TrickC moment you mentioned, have you ever noticed how JC grins while he sings and he looks so damn sexy? It made me wanna read some Trickc today. Love Chris so much *.*
Joey also looks so young, and Lance! OMG
I also noticed some sexy hand movements. Justin's mom should've done something about it :P
Thank you for the video; I loved it.

Date: 2007-08-24 11:24 am (UTC)Justin was a baby! He was only 15 in this, and that's just, wow.
I love when JC smiles when he's singing, he puts so much into the whole process, and yes. Chris is love.
Justin's mom should've done something about it :P
She probably taught him those movements ;)

Date: 2007-08-23 03:13 pm (UTC)I think we should do this. Fall challenge! YES! Just imagine the awesomeness that would come out of POP or This I Promise You. They're, um, parks services workers! They build trails and sing among the redwoods! Or something.
Anyway. This version always makes me feel dirty because Justin looks like a baby and then I'm all, "EEK." But I love the low production quality and the costumes and the cheese of it all. It's still not as gay as TUMH overall, but it's more gay in the costume-plot area. I like the US version better because I like JC better in it, and I LOVE Chris's goggles, so yeah, US for me. But this gets two thumbs up for amusement factor.

Justin is such a baby! I sort of block out the knowledge that he's 15 in this, because, man. 15. He's a kid, but only by numbers.
The whole video is just cheesy, and that's why I love it so. But yeah, on reflection, I think I prefer the US version too.

Date: 2007-08-24 01:50 pm (UTC)...and Lance is like, Lt. Data. And JC is Deanna Troy, all, "I sense that she's feeling frustrated and scared! It's like a million voice screaming out in pain all at once!"

Date: 2007-08-23 03:47 pm (UTC)But hell, yeah. I don't blame anyone for redoing this video, they look so different and young, and skinny and sort of maniac homicidal now that you mention the scattering of the woman's atoms.
Fun video, but I like the american version better.

Mwahahahaa!!!!!!
We have the woman flying into bits, and just, why!?
Perhaps it's supposed to illustrate some kind of malfunctioning matter transmitter and Chris and Lance is trying to
fix itmake sure it stays broken? You know, that would be an interesting AU challenge. Assign a video and write the story behind it. This one would be hot spacestation GSF!
This sounds like a fabulous idea!
Lance sadly fails looks wise in this one
Which is VERY SAD because he was actually incredibly cute during this era!!
I don't think I can choose between these two videos, I love them for completely different things but equally strong.

Yes! That's what I was thinking too. Obviously they don't want that girl, so they scatter her atoms into space. Which sounds like a good thing to me.

He was, but he just comes across as a mega dork in this video, which is a shame.
