Looking at my posts, the last three have been about Dog the Bounty Hunter slash, Timbaland/Timberlake and incest with the Nsync moms. You're all insane people to be reading those ;)

The QE2 was docking at Newcastle today, so we went to see her sail in. We drove to South Shields and there wasn't a parking space to be found for ages. We eventually found a place and walked down to the quay side and settled on some steps. It was cold. It was very windy. It was spotting on with rain. It was crowded with people, and about an hour after we arrived someone spotted the QE2's funnels over the top of the pier. She sailed between the two piers, she turned, she sailed back the other way, she turned again. Nothing can express how slow this all was, and over three hours later we gave up and went home. Looking at the news later it seems that the wind was so bad she nearly crashed into the north pier a few times, and didn't get into port until 8. I feel so sorry for all the kids there. There were loads of them waving banners, reading to perform as she sailed past. I hope they didn't have to stay, because it was so cold.

An update on the rice situation. I managed to make very tasty rice. I also discovered that one mug cup of rice for one person is far too much. Let's just say we ate rice for the last three days. But it was good rice!

Mam's having a really bad lupus flare up at the moment. It's attacked her whole body and she's in serious pain. Only able to hobble around, so I've been up there often. Other than that it's been a lot of stuff of no importance. I did manage some ficlets for [livejournal.com profile] fic_requests. A bittersweet trickyfish, A lampfic and a hockey AU which I loved writing so much. I miss hockey so badly sometimes, if I didn't have about 7892683 ideas on the go I'd expand that for sure.

Also, I may have been watching many many episodes of Dark Angel. I'm so easy sometimes.

Congratulations on the rice! I generally do 50g when I'm cooking for myself, but when I'm cooking for my greedy family I take it up to 75g per person. I think that's the serving recommended on most packs.

I hope your mum feels better soon.

Thank you :)

Be a bit wary of keeping rice - it's actually got the potential to be quite nasty. Don't keep it long, and make sure it really gets heated through properly if you're re-heating it.

I didn't realise that. I kept mine for two days in the fridge, heating up what I needed each time. I'll make sure not to do that in future.

She hasn't had a flare up this bad since I was a kid. But she's off to see the consultant at the hospital this week, and hopefully they can do something to help.

That list at fic_requests wasn't coming down at all, so I figured I'd give it a hand :)

Yipes, yeah hopefully the doctors can do something to ease it. MEEP

I opened the list at fic_requests the other day and stared at it. I wanted to help but I came up with Nothing. Zip. Zero. Nada. *sigh*

Well, you can't push it if you don't have any inspiration. I know there's a lot of prompts on there that don't spark me at all. Which means show me a Chris in the prompt and I'm there ;)

Didn't you already know that? ;-)

Yay! for good rice!! I usually use 1/2 deciliter of rice per person and just add extra servings if I think people are extra hungry (or if my BIL is eating :-)

I hope your mother gets better soon! Being in pain is so exhausting and awful!!

Hee. That's very true.

I hear you adding extra if your BIL is eating. Corey's at that stage where he's got hollow legs. Where he puts it I don't know.

I hope she's better soon too. She's having a rough time right now.

Hope the lupus flare up dies down sooner rather than later. You're right. That causes an enormous amount of pain. She's lucky to have you around.

I'm here, but I've been trying to dig myself out of a rut lately. Life has me in a chokehold and I'm starting to feel it's grip. My kingdom for one day without tears... if i could just make it one day....... maybe tomorrow. There's always tomorrow.

we are v. lucky in that we live super close to the canes practice rink, which is awesome, and really helps the off-season go by quicker. still, it's almost time! \o/

I've no rinks near me now, at least none I'll visit. I used to be a season ticket holder at the Durham Wasps, then the team were bought out and moved to another city. I vowed to never set foot in that rink, and I never have.

Which is cutting my nose of to spite my face in many ways, but it's the principal of the thing. They bought my team and moved it. That's so wrong.

I'm glad you get your fix though.

A whole CUP per person!! Oh, Terri LUV.

(actually, the average mug holds a bit more than a cup, so all the more OI...)

Yeah, America generally uses a HALF cup per serving. I use a whole one, but then, I add butter and some diced up something and call it a meal, so...

Well, you've got it sorted with 20/20 hindsight now, don't you? Hee.
