Corey was just watching a nature programme, and a zebra was caught by an alligator and it was making these pained noises. We had to turn it off. I know, circle of life and all that, but I don't want to see it.

Talking of Corey, he's having a pj day as he's sick. He was throwing up after school yesterday which wasn't helped by the fact he was adamant he was going on the scout bike ride. As he said he felt much better and James was the driving support, I let him go. Of course I didn't know the weather was going to turn and the scout leaders had the kids on a two hour ride in the driving rain. Corey came in soaked and promptly threw up again. Which wasn't surprising at all. As James is out for the day we're sitting watching cartoons; and zebras being eaten.

LJ has been logging me out a lot lately. Totally randomly so I don't notice until I realise I've seen no flocked posts for ages. While it's easily fixed, I always worry I'll miss something.

I downloaded Moonlight earlier, but from what I've read it's been slated. So after today I may never download again. Which is a shame as vampires are always cool. I also downloaded Las Vegas, but won't be watching that until it's burned to disc, as it's something James and me watch together.

I was comment chatting to [livejournal.com profile] sperrywink about something, probably hair, we like discussing the hairstyles of tv people, and dude, I was saying how I wanted to know if the CSI LV people had new hairstyles, and was disappointed that no new dos were to be seen. It's just clicked that the first ep was a continuation of last season. It's not like they had time to nip out and change or grow out their hair in the minutes between the end of last episode and this one. Also, and this has been annoying me, I've already moaned about it once today but it needs mentioning again. How stupid did Gil and Catherine look when they were using the binoculars to look at those rocks Sara left? They looked through them, they saw the rocks, the ran ten feet at most. Come on! They're not blind. They're not solving crime with Sherlock the guide dog at their sides.

Anyway, back what I was talking about. We got to talking if there were bnfs in the popfandom and agreed that wasn't really the case anymore. As we're pretty small most people know everyone, and you know, I like that. I mean, I would be happy if we had a load more fans and more stuff posted each week, but I also like that I'm surrounded by people I know reasonably well, on a fannish level anyway. Of course, I don't know everyone in fandom, that's always proven when someone posts on popstoryfinders asking for some weird story. Though when I check those names out, which I do because I'm nosy, they're sometimes journals with no friends or entries. Admit it, who's making up screen names to ask for dodgy stories? ;)

Rambling again. I guess it comes down to I really like my fandom. It's comfortable and cosy and while I wish it were bigger and busier, I'd never complain about it at all.

And then they had to stop and pick up the rocks as if there was some secret hidden under them!! WTF!! Just look for the next pile of rocks, you dopes!! They did look stupid as all get out.

Good point about the CSI hairstyles, I hadn't thought of the continuity thing. Maybe next week we will get new hair. I was thinking this morning about doing a hair post as we discussed. Imagining what pictures I would need and who should be in it. It may happen, if I get off my lazy butt.

I like pop being cozy and comfortable as well.

I know! I have such issues with those rocks. I can accept Sara doing that, it's a good idea and did help track her down, but Gil and Catherine came off so badly. They're both highly intelligent characters, they don't stand around looking under rocks.

I hope we do get new hair. You should do a post, that would be awesome! There's so many great people to include too.

Cozy and comfortable suit me just fine. I like it here :)

I guess there were two Vampire shows, Moonlight and Blood Ties, lol! Having watched both, I'm kinda wishing they could be merged into one with the storyline of Moonlight and the Vampire in Blood Ties. No offense to the Moonlight Vampire, but the Blood Ties one is hot! lol

I wasn't impressed with the CSI season openner. I guess because I knew they wouldn't kill her off so it wasn't very suspenseful to me. And yeah, the binoculars/rocks thing was almost comical. I guess at this point I expect more from them.

bnfs?

What were the odds of two detective vampire shows on at the same time? *g*

Henry is hot! Saying that though, the Moonlight vampire isn't bad either. What did you think of Moonlight? I saw so many bad reviews I wasn't looking forward to watching, but I quite enjoyed it. I mean, a lot of it was predictable and I had to laugh when yet another myth was destroyed to fit the show. Sunlight doesn't kill now? Soon all vampires will be are normal people with sharp teeth.

I wasn't impressed with CSI either, which sucked as I was looking forward to that the most. But the rock/binocular thing was so stupid that I'm amazed they left it in.

BNFs = big name fans.

I think any vampire show would be a hard sell to the viewing public. I see potential in Moonlight for sure. I liked it. But I think they should have targeted a younger audience for this subject matter and had a younger, prettier actor play the vampire. We'll see I guess.

Oh right. I forgot about the Banana Nibbling Fanatics. lol! ;-P

I watched the CSI episode today, and I have to say that you made me giggle because I thought the same thing *giggles* But still, it sounded a little obvious that they were not going to kill her (not that I want Sarah to die, but that would have been daring, especially since we already went through the kidnapping-of-a-team-member-that-turned-out-okay-and-they-did-not-die when Nick was buried by Tarentino - and yes, I wanted Nick to live, I give you that lol)

I hate it in animal documentaries when they get the sound of the animal being eaten. Speaking of animal documentaries: it's weird, because I watched a lot of docs about killer whales (they're one of my favorite animal) in which they kill poor little seals. Then I watched documentaries about penguins (and Happy Feet) and man did the seal look scary all of a sudden! Maybe the orcas are right to eat them after all [/nonsense about animal documentaries]

It must be nice to be in a nice and comfy fandom like this - I'm mainly part of the HP fandom and dude, you know how it's like in there lol

It was such a stupid thing. I mean, why would they do that? Neither of them are blind or have sight problems. The rocks were like, feet away. Why the binoculars? WHY!?

It would have been daring to kill her off, but I never expected that to happen. I did like some of the episode, but the parts where she was walking seemed to last forever. Sara staggers through the sand. Sara falls in the sand. Sara walks through the sand again. It went on and on, and while I'm sure they did it for dramatic tension, in my opinion they failed. I mean, compared to Grave Danger, this was a damp squid, which is a shame.

The poor zebra. I had to turn it over. Dude, yes! Seals are scary. When I watched the movie Eight Below there was a huge one and it frightened the life out of me. They look so innocent but they can look after themselves, that's for sure.

HP fandom scares me! I like where I know most of the people and if wank happens I can avoid it easily.

yup, exactly. it's really disappointing, because CSI:LV is supposed to be the best of the CSI franchise and everything! And the walking parts *rolls eyes* you're right, it was just so... generic.

Poor zebras... in documentaries, I don't like it when you see a crocodile hiding and jump for its prey. They're sneaky bastards, aren't they? At least when you see a feline chasing a prey, it seems like a fair fight (well, kinda)

Eight Below - dude, I watched that on the plane and yeah, that seal was so scary! I actually liked the movie and cried at the end because it ended well. But then my mom told me what had really happened in real life with the dogs and... well, let's just say I won't watch it again.

HP fandom... it's just one massive blob, isn't it? I remember, when I started on LJ, I had some BNF on my flist, and then I had some regular people who eventually became BNF - it was a really interesting phenomenon to witness, this transformation. Now I'm staying away from BNFs and wanks and trolls and meta and everything which might lead to a new wank lol

How is Corey feeling tonight?

exactly, it just came off as awkward.

personally, I don't really have a problem with Sara's 40 years in the desert, because she was possibly drugged, and hadn't eaten in a while, or had anything to drink and stuff, and I can totally understand that she wouldn't want to sit around and be a sitting duck if Natalie came back, but then the reasoning for her wandering off doesn't mesh with her having a clear enough head to leave them signs and stuff.

I have no objections to her wandering off as such. She's shown over and over she's independent and would want to save herself, plus, like you said she was drugged, hurt and exhausted. It's just that damn walk through the desert took so long.

I like Sara as a character, and she deserved more than she got.

yeah, it was unnecessarily long. we get it, thanks.

That's weird about LJ logging you out like that. It's only happened a few times to me but I always noticed it immediately because I have the box with my reading filters in the sidebar that I can only see if I'm logged in and if it's not there then I know something's wrong :-) Do you start your forays into LJ on your own recent entries page or on your flist? 'Cause if it's on your recent entries you could have a locked post of some sort at the top to tip you off if you're logged in or not. Just a suggestion!

I've been thinking about popslash and BNFs too and I came to the same conclusion, that we're just too small and cosy these days to really have room for any BNFs and that it's very liberating that everyone is more-or-less equal.

It's not me! My reaction to badfic is always a baffled incomprehension :-) I mean, I don't like highbrow, intellectual stuff, but I want at least a basic level of competence to be able to enjoy a story. (And that was something I forgot to mention in my "love" comment to you: how you happily embraces your shames :-)

PS I hope Corey's feeling better by now!

The problem is with the logging off, is that it happens randomly, after I've been reading LJ for a while. I'm talking about from reading one post to another here. Which is the problem, because while I always check if I'm logged on when I first get online, it it happens when I'm surfing, that's not so easy to catch. I guess I need to just keep checking more often.

It is liberating that people are more or less equal. I like it this way with no one people think you have to friend.

Hee! I embraced my shames a long time ago. I know you don't get the badfic thing, but I think it's fun.

Corey's much better. Thank you :)

Why were they looking for Sara on foot, anyway? The wind was blowing away the footprints and if they'd used more helicopters and she'd used the side-view mirror to better effect - I mean, why did they have her drag that around with her if they weren't going to have her purposefully flashing it all over the place so she would be found??

And I'm sorry, but I'm totally a popslash BNF. I don't understand how you missed that.

I guess it's the difference between reality and knowing things are made up that's at play there. But I so get you about not watching animals kill each other. The cinema used to play a advert which featured a croc eating a bird. It's little wing was fluttering, and I always had to look away.
