Dec. 27th, 2007 10:47 amBefore I start the Christmas recap, I want to wish very happy belated birthdays to
without_me,
clumsygyrl and
msktrnanny I hope you all had great days.
Thank you to
digital_diva and
soul4poetry for the cards that came on Christmas eve, and
imsinkingfast for the virtual stocking. You're all awesome.
Last but not least. I got an amazingly awesome SeSa story. It's trickc, it's everything I love in one story, and I mean everything. The writer either knows me or is great at doing research because wow. I was flailing with glee as I read, especially in one section, which I won't say because it'll spoil the gleeful realisation. Though it did take almost three days from me reading the first section when the stories went live on Christmas eve, to me reading the rest. So go, read. The Rest, As They Say, Is History
So, Christmas. It was so lovely and I've spent the last three days with family, and eating, and just hanging out with my boys and family. Corey's computer was a huge hit, and a total surprise. I'm trying not to pout that it's nicer than mine with a huge flat screen. He got lots of stuff he loves, including Seasons for Sims2, so we've been playing that a lot, and I've been boggling at how fast the game runs when you have a computer not bogged down in stuff. I received lots of nice gifts, including an external hard drive from mam, and also a cool hat scarf combo that everyone else laughed at, but delighted me.
Christmas eve was spent doing the family visits, then prepping for the next days dinner while watching Christmas tv. Then staying up to the early hours putting the computer together. Christmas day I made the dinner myself, and it was great. Everything was delicious and most of that day was spent in a food coma, playing with Corey, then watching new Who!
Yesterday was the boxing day tea, which meant sandwiches and cakes and a load of yummy food to be eaten by various family members. When we finally had the house to ourselves I immediately changed into my night clothes and settled down with one of my new books. Promptly falling asleep.
Which brings us to now. I have a fridge full of left overs. Turkey, stuffing and mint sauce sandwiches, yum! A kitchen that desperately needs cleaning, but what I'm going to do is make a drink, wrap the blanket round myself, catch up on the flist and just gorge myself on MTYG fic. I always read from top to bottom and plan on feeding back before reveal, which will be easier this year with the reveal being pushed back. I've received lovely feedback on my own story, none from my recipient, but it's early yet, so I'm feeling quite zen about the silence from that direction at the moment.
Thank you to

Date: 2007-12-27 01:32 pm (UTC)one - it was perfect for you
two - who wrote it.
I'm happy to hear that you had such nice holidays. I'm guessing my Christmas card is still in transit to you. Apparently they were in the van for a few days before Mom finally said "Oh, these have to go overseas, that's why she gave them to me first to mail." *head desk*
I've read and fb'd 14 stories so far, been reading them whenever I get a chance. I'm thinking about wandering over to read some more of them once I check the old flist.
*hugs*

Date: 2007-12-27 04:24 pm (UTC)I had a lovely Christmas, thank you! How did yours go? As for cards, I ran out of money to send some of mine so they went today. They may be a little late.
*smooch*

Date: 2007-12-27 04:48 pm (UTC)My Christmas was so very nice and quiet. Mom hogged the computer when she was awake, so I read Lance's book most of the day (and finished it that evening) - when Mom wasn't on the computer, I read SeSa. It was just lovely to be able to sit and read. We're suppose to have company for New Year's, but yesterday Grouchy got a phone call about his brother in law (who has prostate cancer) and it isn't sounding good, so Grouchy told my Mom this morning that if Jerry (his brother in law) starts fading fast or we get more bad news, that he's going downstate. :( But if he's home and we still get our company - I'll probably spend the time they are here, online and reading more fic while the 'rents & our guests play cards in the other room. I'm all rambly, I should go read more. lol

Date: 2007-12-27 06:05 pm (UTC)Leftovers are definitely one of the best parts of Christmas food. Right now I'm eating sandwiches with hard boiled eggs and my mother's special pickled herring (accompanied by a schnapps 'cause you can't eat pickled herring without schnapps :-) so yummy!!
