I don't suppose anyone knows anything about buffer overruns in AIM? It's just so frustrating, all I want to do is talk to Josh and I can't load AIM, AIM express is denied due to my pop up blockers, downloading old and new versions doesn't work and my computer is running so slow right now that other chat programmes are taking an age to install. Stupid AIM, it worked fantastically for ever and now when I want it it goes belly up.

ETA: VICTOR! Victor on Las Vegas! Eeeeee!!! To explain, James is sick again so he's watching old Las Vagas episodes, and VICTOR! OMG. I love him so.

I can't load up AIM at all, it freezes my computer. Someone else told me that means I need more RAM, but that's beyond my computer-ability to grasp, so I don't know! If you find an answer, share with the class!

If I find an answer I'll totally share. It's so frustrating not being able to make it work.

Sadly I'm not that computer savvy either. I know enough to run a scan, after that I throw myself at my friends for advice.

RE: Slow - when is the last time you checked for spyware, did a defrag and ran an antivirus scan?

I last checked for Spyware a few weeks ago, and the whole system is scanned for viruses automatically once a week. Defragging though. That's a long time ago.

My computer seemed to really slow down when we added Corey's to the wireless. I have no idea if that should actually make a difference though, because it's not just a connection issue, even launching programmes is taking an age.

You know. I think I may go set my spy and anti virus programmes off right now.

I think at least one of my programs scans for spyware weekly, but the other is manual.

If you're going to shut that stuff off, I wouldn't be online when you do it. ;-)

I need to look into setting up a weekly spyware scan, and no worries, I'll log off before I start any scans. Right after I check the reveal names!

If your computer's only slow right now, restart and see if it's better. Or press Ctrl+Alt+Del to open the task manager and see what's using up your memory (in the second tab). It might be a program still running in the background (I get that with Windows Media Player all the time).

If you can't get AIM to run, you might want to check out Trillian. It's a multi-messager-program that lets you log onto ICQ, MSN, Yahoo and AIM at the same time.

You are wonderful! Trillian was just what I needed, it still has weird quirks, like no scroll bar in the text box for some reason, but I got to chat which is just what I needed.

I got tired of all the ads on AIM and now I use this:
