Feb. 21st, 2008 06:04 pmThe mailman was good to me again today, bring a gift from
castalie which is awesome in the extreme. She bought me kinky dice, the fact they're in French makes them even more cool, because I can throw them and then check out Mouse's handily included translations. Thank you, sis! *mwah*
The birthday outing went nicely yesterday. Much pizza was eaten, and the restaurant were lovely in giving us a two and a four top table side by side, so while we were with the boys, we weren't actually sitting with them, an important distinction when you're 12.
After a yummy pizza dinner we went to see Jumper. All I can say about that is, at least Jamie Bell was good in it.
I was thinking about birthday parties just now. The toddler and pre-schooler years when you have parties in the house, where when the guests finally go all you can do is look at the resulting devastation, the crumbs on the floor, the dirty plates and cake found smeared around for days.
Then you hit the infant school years. Bouncy castles at the local sports hall, the shriek of dozens of high-pitched voices, hours spent stuffing goody bags and blowing up balloons and running on nervous energy to make sure no tiny person is catapulted from the castle to the floor.
Onto the Funshack years. With included food, and hours spent surrounded by plastic tubes and slides and pools of brightly coloured balls, trying to keep count of the kids that belong to you and comforting when one inevitably is scared stiff by the huge character bear that brings the cake.
Then parties at the rugby club and days spent buying and preparing food, setting up food, cleaning up food, sorting out games, watching as the boys go outside to play and end up muddying their good clothes.
Then yesterday, four chattering boys and you sit and wince as one blows at his straw and sends the wrapper wizzing through the air, just missing someone's head, then sit boggled as you realise they're all sitting staring at the pretty server and seriously discussing the fact that they think he could be gay.
Still, I'd go back and revisit any of those days in an instant.
Right now I have three Word files open, a MCR gsf, because certain people are enablers, a mcr kitten ficlet that's sort of stretching, and a Chris ficlet. My fandom jumps, let me show you them.
I'm sure you'll all be excited to know that we did our first online Asda order today. Sitting at my desk and adding things is so much easier than going to the supermarket and having to haul everything back to the house. Plus, using my Google skills meant I found the code for free delivery, so score!
Now though, I have hot chocolate, and a flist to catch up on.

Date: 2008-02-21 06:15 pm (UTC)Though, you're right, once those days are here, I'll be sad and miss the days when they were excited to see me. *g*

Date: 2008-02-21 06:23 pm (UTC)The parties are always fun, but wow, are the draining.
The thing is with me though, all my nephews and nieces are in the 4-baby age range, I have clowns in my future for years yet.
Still, you're right. I'll miss it too.

Date: 2008-02-21 06:26 pm (UTC)As for Jumper, I've seen the trailer the other day when I went to the movies and I have to admit that I couldn't even follow the damn trailer - it was just a bunch of flashing images! It made me not want to see it - and your minireview of it? definitely not a plus for the movie lol

Date: 2008-02-21 06:36 pm (UTC)That is a bad time for parties when you're a kid :(
Jumper had the premise to be amazing. Someone with the ability to jump anywhere in the world, a world with other Jumpers along with people who have vowed to hunt them down and kill them all. In reality it's a mess. The plot is non existent, there's plot holes you could drive a truck through, the end is sudden and leaves thing dangling in a very unsatisfying way and the leads had the chemistry of two wet rags.
It's not all bad, there's some good action scenes and Jamie Bell plays a great part, but not enough to make up for everything else. It's like, you know you're watching something that could have been out of this world, but just isn't.

Date: 2008-02-21 06:35 pm (UTC)Oooh, stories!!! Re the streeetching (just lika kitten :-) MCR kitten fic, I just realised that I'd read somewhere that Gerard's supposedly allergic to cats. Does that means he's allergic to himself if he's turned into a kitten or would the allergy no longer apply as it's only his human self that's allergic? Or perhaps he's know allergic to HUMANS!
Online shopping rocks! Not that I've ever shopped for groceries online but I try to do as much of all other kinds of shopping there as possible. I HATE running in and out of shops looking for what I need!!
Hot chocolate, yum!

Date: 2008-02-21 06:46 pm (UTC)Poor Tinker was allergic to the litter we bought, and she's been sneezing like crazy. It was so cute. Now I can imagine Gerard!Kitten sneezing, his big eyes watering as he rubs his nose against Bob's sleeve.
Oh, if he were allergic to humans they'd figure out why he's sneezing and put him out of the way because they'd feel bad, and Gerard!kitten would keep creeping back, and he'd pounce on someone, his little claws digging in and he'd be so happy because he can nuzzle again, then, atchoo! And Mikey!Kitten would be giving him a look and then they'd discuss the problem and wonder if they should have showers, see if that would help and Bob would frown and say he didn't think that would work, but still, he'd go and find some place he could wash up and come back all damp and Gerard!Kitten would scamper across the bus, skidding across the floor and scramble up Bob's leg, and look so woeful when he still sneezed, and.... what have you done to me!?
How can I be so happy plotting kitten fic!
Online shopping is great. It's what I missed the most when our cards were taken from us. Knowing all the heavy and awkward stuff is coming on Saturday is awesome. As is hot chocolate. Sadly it's all gone now :(

Date: 2008-02-21 08:58 pm (UTC)Well, the server was very pretty, very slim with artfully arranged hair that he enjoyed flipping off his forehead. He also smiled a lot and happily skimmed around the resturant, pizzas held aloft. Gay or not, he was easy on the eye *g*
Birthday parties are fun! I'll miss them when he doesn't want them anymore.
