The mailman was good to me again today, bring a gift from [livejournal.com profile] castalie which is awesome in the extreme. She bought me kinky dice, the fact they're in French makes them even more cool, because I can throw them and then check out Mouse's handily included translations. Thank you, sis! *mwah*

The birthday outing went nicely yesterday. Much pizza was eaten, and the restaurant were lovely in giving us a two and a four top table side by side, so while we were with the boys, we weren't actually sitting with them, an important distinction when you're 12.

After a yummy pizza dinner we went to see Jumper. All I can say about that is, at least Jamie Bell was good in it.

I was thinking about birthday parties just now. The toddler and pre-schooler years when you have parties in the house, where when the guests finally go all you can do is look at the resulting devastation, the crumbs on the floor, the dirty plates and cake found smeared around for days.

Then you hit the infant school years. Bouncy castles at the local sports hall, the shriek of dozens of high-pitched voices, hours spent stuffing goody bags and blowing up balloons and running on nervous energy to make sure no tiny person is catapulted from the castle to the floor.

Onto the Funshack years. With included food, and hours spent surrounded by plastic tubes and slides and pools of brightly coloured balls, trying to keep count of the kids that belong to you and comforting when one inevitably is scared stiff by the huge character bear that brings the cake.

Then parties at the rugby club and days spent buying and preparing food, setting up food, cleaning up food, sorting out games, watching as the boys go outside to play and end up muddying their good clothes.

Then yesterday, four chattering boys and you sit and wince as one blows at his straw and sends the wrapper wizzing through the air, just missing someone's head, then sit boggled as you realise they're all sitting staring at the pretty server and seriously discussing the fact that they think he could be gay.

Still, I'd go back and revisit any of those days in an instant.

Right now I have three Word files open, a MCR gsf, because certain people are enablers, a mcr kitten ficlet that's sort of stretching, and a Chris ficlet. My fandom jumps, let me show you them.

I'm sure you'll all be excited to know that we did our first online Asda order today. Sitting at my desk and adding things is so much easier than going to the supermarket and having to haul everything back to the house. Plus, using my Google skills meant I found the code for free delivery, so score!

Now though, I have hot chocolate, and a flist to catch up on.
