Apr. 14th, 2008 05:38 pmHappy birthday to
saba1789 I hope you're having a wonderful day, honey. You're one of the best out there, made of awesome in so many ways.
I knocked a wall down today. It was only a tiny wall made of plaster board, and I was looking at the stairs and thinking how the shoes would fit in nicely behind the boarded up part and next thing I know I have a hammer in my hand, and there was a big hole. Which is perfect for shoe storage, just, it's a little messy right now. Also, Corey and I are painting the hallway. Though we're finished for the day now as my arm feels like it's going to drop off.
I also managed to break the microwave, it just went pop when I turned it on. Which, woe! How am I meant to heat up my soup? And don't say a pan as we only have two, and both of them are big ones that we use to make bolognase, pasta etc, anything littler than that can be nuked. Hey, it works for me. I stilll cook but I can't see why you'd use a pan if you can shove your beans in a plastic carton and heat them that way.
After talking to certain people I've decided that I'm going to have my own personal big bang. If you remember I was thinking about joining before, but at the time I wasn't sure if I could manage a long bandom story. Well, now I know I can. I mean, the Tints stories come in at over 22,000. So yes, personal big bang. I'm sure I can fit that in with remix and dragons. Now I just need an idea.

Date: 2008-04-14 05:31 pm (UTC)I love knocking down walls. In my family we're always doing the work on flats and houses so we're kinda getting used to it. It's mucho fun :-)
Sorry about the microwave.
PERSONAL BIG BANG! *bounces*

Date: 2008-04-14 05:43 pm (UTC)I have to admit, it was fun knocking down the wall. I can see the appeal *g*
My microwave. So sad. I'm hoping it's the fuse, otherwise I'll be balancing the soup can on top of a radiator to heat *g*
I KNOW! I figure when two unrelated people say go for it, it's a sign.

Date: 2008-04-14 05:51 pm (UTC)Do you have a link for the Famous Last Words video? Oh and also for The Sharpest Lives? I've watched videos for some other songs but for them. Can I find them on YT? When I tried a first search forthe latter, the videos that popped up had the song but not the actual clip...
It was totally a sign and you were right in deciding to follow aforementioned sigh *nods*

Date: 2008-04-15 08:38 am (UTC)What I should really do is just buy a little pan at Asda, they're not that expensive.
Long stories are good. Let's just hope I manage it.

I told Lynn that today resembled a mini-Christmas in it's awesomeness... this just solidifies that feeling as truth!
Ideas... well, what do you what to explore? [I'm good at this game. :)]

Date: 2008-04-15 08:10 am (UTC)I AM! Just an unofficial one though, but that suits me.
I was actually thinking about going canon. Or an AU following canon as close as I can get. What I'd like is to follow the Mikey/Pete relationship. Maybe something where MCR are travelling entertainers back in the day. Think all five of them in a cart, Ray driving and times when they stop and Mikey spends time just staring at the horse. They also meet other bands of entertainers, the FOBs who spent half their time looking for mushrooms for Andy who refuses to eat the meat Joe hunts, and Panic who have a wagon that flutters with ribbons and jingles with bells.
Anyway. Mikey and Pete meet, and start this epic romance, meeting in the woods and they send notes by pigeon until it gets toward fall and it's getting cold and it's nearly time for them to stop moving and set up the winter camp. Which of course is not close to one another. Leading to angsty woe as it's so cold the pigeons can't fly and they think it's all over.
Then one night, as the wind howls and the snow falls, Mikey's wrapped up in his fur blanket ( made by Bob, who's a fire eater as well as an awesome hunter ) and it's Pete!
Frank could be a contortionist, Gerard a singer, Mikey a mime, Ray breaks rocks with his thighs of steel! And there would be meetings with the other bands and it would be ridiculous but fun I think.
And yes, you are good at this.

Hmmm... okay. *nods and considers*
Bear with me while I meander?
Yay for epic romance![And pigeon notes, hahaha! I love that .] Initially, I wasn't sure how I feel about the mime bit. [Though, between visualizing Mikey in white make-up and Ray's rock-crushing thighs, I was giggling for about 10 minutes.]. But then I started poking around, and found this article: http://members.tripod.com/~kiko_mime/history.html Read the bit on Commedia dell'Arte in particular - that sounds like the sort of thing Gerard would organize, eh? And the Italian link folds Frank into the mix nicely.
Have another link:
http://www.theatrehistory.com/italian/commedia_dell_arte_001.html
Have some other links- they are American-based links - if you wanted to set things in America. Here's the wikipedia article on Circuses. The section about circus acts might be of use. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circus . In the traveling carnival section there's also a bit on carnival shows that might be useful.
Here's a dictionary of Circus lingo: http://goodmagic.com/carny/index.htm
Here are WAY too many links on fire-eating. :D

Ahem. That's prolly enough geeking out for you. It's an interesting - and cracktastic- idea. And I really look forward to seeing how you write long interband fic. :)

Date: 2008-04-16 08:35 am (UTC)I think that's the best way to approach large fic, especially if you're still newish to either bandom and/or epic-writing.
Yep, that's me for both. The most I've ever written was 26,000 words, but that was years ago and since then I've settled into a 10,000 average. But I really do want to write long, so something with no stress seems perfect. So I can add scenes here and there and just let it grow naturally. Hopefully.
I was checking out all those links last night, and something that was just a vague idea is now taking a more solid shape in my mind and yeah, it really is a cracked out idea, there's no getting away from that, but I think it could be fun.
And of course I'm all, want to write now! At the moment *g*

Date: 2008-04-15 02:02 am (UTC)Big Bang! yay! A friend on my flist and I set ourselves our own mini Big Bang challenge when we were wavering about signing up for 'official' Big Bangs in our respective fandoms (SPN for her, bandom for me) and it's a really cool way to, um, challenge oneself. Of course mine has fallen by the wayside at the moment, but, eh, I figure that makes it a more realistic Big Bang experience! LOL. I can't wait to see what you come up with for yours.
And, did you see that Tints got recced in

Date: 2008-04-15 07:56 am (UTC)Unofficial Big Bangs seem to be a great thing. All the 'fun' with none of the pressure of finishing on time. I'm actually thinking going canon for it, which eeeep!

Hee! Yes. Also, you're posting lots of lovely other stuff. Which is awesome.
I didn't! Thanks for letting me know!
