I didn't notice that the back gate had blown open and have just spent a long time looking for Tex. Of course when I came back he was sitting on the step.

Before I went I was commenting to firequill about popslash/bandom and she asked what pairing she'd like if she liked trickyfish in popslash. Which was a cool thing to think about when I was trudging around looking for a relatively small dog in a big field/hill.

So, my thoughts, let me show you them.

First off, my initial reaction was to tell her that it was Mikey/Frank, because everyone should love that pairing. However, pushing aside my personal bias, I tried to think of matches between the fandoms. Of course nothing will match exactly due to personalties and dynamics being so different, still, it was fun to try.

When I got into bandom back in the day callsigns told me that Ryan/Pete could be said to be like timbertrick, with the age differences and often written as fucked up. Which yes, I can see that.

JuC/Joshtin has to be Ferard/Gerard/Frank, a hugely popular pairing where when the stories are good, they're awesome, when they're bad they're horrible.

However, we have a problem in that neither Gerard or Frank are the main angst magnet in the fandom. Step forward Mikeyway. The man who gets raped, beaten, abused, beaten up, killed and suffers from eating disorders on a regular basis. So if Mikey is the JC of MCR, that means the Justin would have to be Gerard, someone who holds concert goers in the palm of his hand and has inappropriate love for family members. It fits! Sort of. If you squint.

Obviously Joey is like Ray, both made of awesome, not written enough and with thighs of steel.

I don't know. I have lots of popslash/bandom people on my flist, so tell me. Trickyfish = ? Any band goes, it doesn't have to be MCR. So feel free to tell me how Lance Bass is Brendon Urie in another body.

Lance Bass = Spencer Smith in my world. They're the schedule boys, business minded, etc. Which then totally explains why I like Brendon/Spencer bestest, the business minded and the spaz.

And Ray is *so* not written enough. Guh, Ray.

And your description of Mikeyway makes me think of Ilya in Uncle fandom. Poor boys.

One time the gate blew open when I was dogsitting my parents' dog. She ran over to the neighbors yard and then disappeared around the corner. The neighbors were sitting in the yard, not saying a thing as they watched me walk across their yard looking for her. And there was no sign of the dog... until I noticed that their back door was open just enough to be perfectly dog-width.

Neighbors didn't do a thing until I said, "Um... I think the dog just went in your house..."

Sure enough, she was in there eating out of their cat's dish.

I agree with lazydwarf, I see Lance as equivalent to Spencer Smith.
As for trickyfish, hmm, I'm partial to Spencer/Brendon too, but I could also see Spencer/Bob. Bob is a stretch as Chris, but he's older than Spencer and would be a bit of a mentor.

Gerard as the My Chem Justin? *dies of laughter* But since Gerard writes the lyrics and Ray a lot of the music wouldn't that make Gerard/Ray the JuC of My Chem :-P I wonder if Frank would be the equivalent of Chris? Small and dark and hyper and giggly and with lots of tattoos. Hmmm, but that would leave Bob and Mikey to be Lance and Joey and that's just scary!

It's a little strange that Gerard isn't a bigger angst magnet, with his backstory he ought to be perfect for it. Not that I'm complaining, you know what I think of excessive angst ;-)

To be serious for a minute, the more I think about it the less possible it seems to compare either Nsync or Backstreet to one of the bandfandom bands. The dynamics within the bands are so different because their histories are so very different.
