I've been listening to the new The Academy Is album today, and I like. A lot.

I also like the leaked Backstreet Boys song :)

I saw Mix Tape recced and last night I finished reading it and seriously. So much love. What I especially loved was there was actual characterisation of Matt. So often he's demonised, so it was nice to read something where he was more than one dimensional and just there as a place-holder before Bob arrived.. Plus, I'm all about stories that show the Way relationship so well. A, I am ready to flail, because really. ♥

I'm going to make pasta salad for tea, then I need to get stuck into the JuC story because the in laws are here for the day tomorrow.

Oh lord - isn't it just? That story just *broke my heart* for huge stretches in the middle for all of them - for Ray, of course, but for all of them, including Matt, and the scene in Japan, with the sushi bottle? Serious flashbacks to things with J's band when they split up with E.

What I really liked about the story was it dealt with such serious problems without piling on the over blown angst. Gerard's issues were just there, like so many people's issues.

Showing the issues without dramatising them gave everything more impact I think. How as Gerard was spiralling down he was pulling everyone with him. The band crumbling and the realisation that something that had started so well, with a group of friends had become something based on lies that could topple any day.

I did feel sorry for Matt. Finding out about Gerard and Ray as he did was horrible, his attitude toward them being gay was well out of line, but maybe he could have dealt better if he was actually told upfront. Them not doing so just emphasized that it was something bad that should be hidden.

So often I was yelling at Gerard in my head to just let people know. How he could ever think Mikey would feel differently about him is beyond me.

Okay, so I don't go on. I'm sure you can imagine my utter glee at the Way relationship. ♥

And Ray. Man, he killed me. Just hanging in there when things were so bad and a lesser person would have let Gerard go.

He deserves his happy ending.

I'm opening the file now. And going in!

it's a masterpiece of show not tell - and it'sa story about these *characrters* not these *issues*, which means it's good enough to have got right inside me. I just know it's one of those stories that's going to lurk around in my head half a shade away from being canon in my heart, you know?

Mix Tape has always been one of my favorites--I fanboy paloma_cayendo a little too hard, but everything about it is just so well done I can't help that.

I can well understand why you do so. Those are some amazing stories and it's to my shame I've always concentrated on the waycest and hadn't tried the others too.
