Aug. 22nd, 2008 11:04 amI woke up this morning to find sugar spilled all over the bench and the sugar bowl emptier than it had been when I went to bed. Now, I'm throwing no accusations but I feel there may be a connection between this and being woken by Tinker hurtling around the house and meowing constantly.
Yesterday was a nice, if long day. Lots of tidying up in the morning and then James went and picked up the in laws. There's been issues lately that have led to the BiL moving out, which is why they'd all came here for the day, just to chill and let the kids have a change of scene. So, James came back with them and also more boxes of veggies from the awesome wholesale place. Mushrooms, tomatoes and cucumbers this time. Sadly as I don't have a
mkstrnanny here at the moment I was a little unsure what to do with a whole box of cucumbers. Okay, I'll wait while you get the sex jokes out of your system. This journal is a clean place1. Done? Okay. So, the SiL ended up taking most of them, but we still have lots of cucumber in the fridge.
We fed everyone, I hung out in the garden a little with the niece and nephew. Corey spent a lot of time playing with them and being big cousin. Poor C, at one point he was sat slumped on the garden wall after hours of having a 5 year old and a 2 year old at his side all day. Coffees were made, sandwiches, pasta, more coffee, I snuck online time and then they went and my ears rang with the silence.
I really need to write more JuC swap today. It's going really well, but I'm over 6,000 words and have much more to say. Poor Justin, his life. So hard. What with finding velcro for his sneakers and dark glasses to hide his eyes, well he's hardly got time for creepy inappropriate ghost love.
To end.
ephemera_pop was asking for blowjob snippets, and because she's awesome beyond all measure I tried. Linked because it's not often I go beyond hand holding and kisses. So if you want to read a bit of Bob/Ray blowjobery, it's here

Hmmm, yes. I do like cucumber sandwiches. The nephew was eating them in big chunks yesterday. I was finding soggy lumps of cucumber everywhere.

Date: 2008-08-22 11:28 am (UTC)1lb cucumber
1 1/2 tsp salt
4 tsp caster sugar
2 tablespoons rice vinegar or white wine vinegar
3 tblsp sesame seed oil
- cut the cucumber into thick 1 inch batons
- put in a bowl with the salt, mix well, and leave for 20 minutes.
- drain and wash the cucumbers, and pat dry on kitchen paper.
- put in a bowl with the sugar and sesame oil.
- mix and marinade for an hour.
Eat! They'll also keep for a few days in the fridge.
If you want to make it spicy, you can heat the sesame oil up in a wok with a tablespoon of ordinary vegetable oil, and quickly fry some chopped ginger root and chilli in it. Leave it to cool, then add to the pickle when you'd usually add the plain sesame oil.

Date: 2008-08-22 05:23 pm (UTC)Ohh - I have to get my sister to send me a couple of packets of this herb mix that she was using to make the *most* delicious cucumber salad. Mostly, though, I just slice it up and eat it like crisps. I can get through a few cucumbers a day like that!
