Halloween is a holiday that really isn't that big here. People carve pumpkins and the shops get decorated but it's really not an event like it is elsewhere. If we do get trick or treaters they tend to be pre-teens or teenagers in masks who hold out their hands expecting money when you answer the door.

But, I do enjoy reading about people's Halloween plans. The costumes they're going to wear and what they'll do. Which is why when I saw this meme I thought I'd take part in my own cyber way.

Please feel free to put this up in your LJ to invite trick or treaters to your own door! Treats can be anything that strikes your fancy (pics of fave actors or band/popboys or girls, one sentence fics, a few words why you're glad to have them on your flist, etc. etc.)

My own addition. Tell me what costume you're wearing, and if you're not going to wear one. Make one up. I want to know what you guys are dressed up as when you knock at my cyber door.

Happy Halloween! I'm sorry that the "holiday" isn't really celebrated where you live, it's so much fun!

I'm not dressing up this year, but the kids are and we're going to the city park where our church is sponsoring a "safe" trick or treating festival for the community kids.

Mostly, INDEED. Sometimes I get a little surly. I'm like the old guy in the neighborhood. "Get yer damned new-fangled toys offa my lawn!!" But then I retreat back indoors to watch Bob Villa build a new set of shelves on the teevee :P

Trick or treat!

I'll be wearing my black and white Venetian cat mask, which is what I will actually be wearing this evening to scare trick-or-treating small children.

(The trick-or-treaters we get round here are mostly little and cute, with proper costumes, and they only knock on doors if there's a lantern in the window. Sometimes I say 'trick' just to confuse them, and one little boy told me very seriously 'We don't do tricks because I don't like it when people play tricks on me.")
