I really like Elliot Minor's music, but I'm not fannish about them. Sure, they're attractive and all that, but I hadn't gone searching stuff out. Until this morning. I'll never get that hour of my life back. Never have I seen so many, 'the other man', 'the dark haired man' etc in so many stories.
Happier things. I've seen people mention how they know it's the holiday season when Starbucks starts using the red cups. Know how I know? Snow Fairy! . Oh, how I've missed my sparkly candy scented shower gel of joy! Soon I'll have some in my grubby little hands, yes I will.
I've been quite shameless in filling polls for Christmas cards. Because man, Christmas! My favourite time of year by far. Shameless because while I do send cards in return a batch didn't get sent last year, simply because I ran out of postage money. Forgive me, I'm a failboat, I know this.
I'll be putting up my own card post soon, because listening to Nsync's christmas album, writing messages in each card. Christmas confetti! It's a tradition that must be upheld.
But, what I'll put here is my wishlist. These seem to have gone up much earlier than last year, but I'll go with it.
This is pretty much the same as last years, btw. My needs don't change much.
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
(1) Go and give some feedback. Anything you've enjoyed, let the creator know. Stories, fanvids, icons. If you like them, email or comment saying so.
(2) It's a busy time of year, but go and have some 'you' time. Take five minutes to read or eat chocolate, or anything that makes you happy. If it's not a busy time for you, have as much time as you like *g*
(3) If you've got stuff you no longer need or use, give it away. So many people have so little. Why keep things shoved into boxes or in the back of your closet if it can be used elsewhere?
(4) If you have a pet, go and give them a stroke, or a hug. Pets are awesome and give us unconditional love. So make sure they know we love them back.
(5) Go comment. Let people know you're reading those words they send into cyberspace.
(6) Post about what's making you happy right now. Happy posts are joy.
(7) There's always lots of wishlists going around this time of year. If you see any, have a look and see if you can grant any wishes.
(8) If you celebrate Christmas, once you decorate can you post pictures of your Christmas tree? I love Christmas so much, and seeing Christmas trees, all sparkly and wonderful is awesome!
(9)Make them bring Mutant X back. I miss my show Josh actually wrote me a MX virtual season this year, and no lie, it's been the greatest gift ever. So, my new 9 is. Tell me how you've been awesome today. I don't care how awesome. You could have bungee jumped or made someone a hot drink when they needed one. But you'll have done something awesome. No saying you didn't. I don't believe you!
(10) Finish my SeSa for me. Or this year, start it /o\

Christmas cards are LOVE!
I MIGHT have Christmas tree this year for the first time in forever. I definitely have room for it. If I do I'll be sure to remember to take a picture and post it just for you.
I can't pet Lancecat right now, he's asleep atop the dirty laundry in the linen cupboard :-)

Yes. Christmas cards are awesome. I get so much joy just sitting and thinking of what to say.
