Nov. 23rd, 2008 12:39 pmIt's been snowing on and off here for the last two days, sticking too. The weather is weird, doesn't it know it's supposed to snow for one day in February and then go away?
There seems to be a crime wave going around here lately. On the estate opposite mine, and in Kay's street, two men with machetes pushed their way into an old couple's house and robbed them at midday, and yesterday a few houses up from our house a man has been found dead in suspicious circumstances. I think I'll start locking our doors during the day.
Merlin. It just keeps getting better ♥
We're off to nanna's soon, but before that.
Wrapping paper or gift bags?
I enjoy wrapping gifts, so paper. Sitting on the floor, surrounded by festive paper and gifts you've selected. Rosettes and ribbon. \o/
Real tree or artificial?
Artificial. When he's got his leg off James gets around on his knees, so needles would be an issue with a real tree. We did have a real one in the garden one year but someone stole it, so we've never done that since.
When do you put up the tree?
James' birthday is the 1st of December, so we always put it up then.
When do you take the tree down?
Usually the 2nd of January.
Do you like egg nog?
I've never tried it, and don't think I want to.
Favorite gift received as a child?
I got this awesome Sindy house. It was three stories high, had a lift going up the side and was one of my most favourite gifts ever!
Hardest person to buy for?
Nanna. When you're nearly 90 there's not much you need and she gets so many sweets she's got a supply for months.
Easiest person to buy for?
Corey. He has no problem letting us know what he wants.
Do you have a nativity scene?
Nope.
Mail or email Christmas cards?
Mail, and btw. I have sparkly penguins! Penguins. That glitter!
Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
Honestly, I feel terrible even thinking about it, because gifts are given with love, but, when I first started dating James his grandad gave me a string of artificial pearls. Which are so not me at all.
Favorite Christmas movie?
The Snowman.
When do you start shopping for Christmas?
November usually, but the majority gets done in December.
Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
No.
Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
Tobelerone. I get the small bars during the year sometimes, but at Christmas people buy me the big ones, and it's my favourite chocolate ever!
Favorite Christmas song?
Fairy Tale of New York.
Travel at Christmas or stay home?
Until a few years ago I stayed at mam's, though as she lives on the same estate we didn't go far. Now we stay at home. We go around the family on Christmas Eve, delivering gifts and listening to the local radio which always has Santa doing a phone in show where kids can call up and talk to him. So we listen to that while driving around and it's dark and there's this feel in the air that's pure Christmas. It's excitement and signs in gardens saying 'Santa stop here' and saucers of milk and carrots on doorsteps for the reindeers and getting home and just. I love it so.
Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Erm. Dasher and Doner, Blitzen, Comet... It seems not.
Angel on the tree top or a star?
A star.
Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
Always the morning. When we went to mam's they used to open their gifts at midnight on Christmas eve but I always said no. Then one year I caved and opened my stuff, then when I got up the next morning all I was faced with was opened presents and I was so disappointed that I never did it again.
Most annoying thing about this time of the year?
That most of my family aren't Christmas lovers. Mam and Kay aren't even decorating , dad has always hated the holiday. It's like getting a bucket of cold water dumped on your head at times.
Favorite ornament theme or color?
Theme? Ahahahaaha. Right. My house always looks like an explosion in a glitter factory at Christmas.
Favorite for Christmas dinner?
Turkey! We have turkey with stuffing, pork with crackling, mashed potatoes, roasties, veggies, gravy, puddings. Nom nom nom.
What do you want for Christmas this year?
Panic's DVD, FOBs CD, MCR calendar. After that, anything really. I love getting books and stuff from Lush but I'm easy to please.
