James was supposed to be at work today. I got up with him at 7, helped him dress then went back to bed. A few hours later he was back after the lifts at work broke down. Due to a health and safety rule he's not allowed to go up the stairs, and they couldn't find him any work on the ground floor, so home he came. What annoys me is the lifts break down often, and each time they do he needs to use a sick day, or like today, make the time up at a later date.

One year today I posted my first offical bandom fic Hope and Shatterproof Glass -- I'd posted ficlets hidden in comments before that. It was for the pic for a 1000 challenge, and I thought it would be nice to try and mark the occasion by posting my response to this years challenge today. I got an idea, which I still like a lot, but then started writing something completely different. MCR as mer men. I know! Really, I know.

I've been dithering about posting because it really is quite ridiculous, but as someone very smart told me earlier, I've written and posted miniaturised Panic and MCR fic, the ridiculous boat has already sailed. I have the best friends, they always say what needs to be said. So if I get the editing done I'll post that later, and wow, did it needed editing. The problem is with these 1000 word stories any error is obvious as you don't have the extra padding words to help conceal.

So yes, maybe Way heavy mer men fic later. I'm sure you all can't wait.

Can he talk to someone about using the sick days? It's not his fault he has to go home. He came to work ready to go; it was their choice to send him home. ♥

He's going to talk to someone on Monday, hopefully it'll be sorted out them, because it's all kinds of wrong.

Wouldn't that be more on them that he can't work, though? Since it's a health and safety thing and it's not like it's his fault the lifts break down... I don't know.

I am very definitely looking forward to a Way heavy mermen fic, really. *g*

No, you're exactly right. He would have worked on the ground floor if they had anything for him to do, and he would have gone upstairs if he could, so it's all on them.

Because you are awesome, and indulgent like that *g*

Huh? Why should he have to use a sick day or have to make up the time later if the lifts are out of order? It's not HIS fault he can't work after all. It sounds all wrong to me. What do the union say?

Happy MCR anniversary!!! I'm so happy you started writing bandslash!! (And Waycest ;-)

That's exactly how I feel too. It's ridiculous. He's going to talk to someone on Monday, and hopefully they can sort it out then. I hope so, because I think it's all kind of wrong.

Thank you! Who would have thought one year on I'd have written so much? Though strangely, I seem to be in a gen streak right now.

That doesn't seem right at all. If they're the ones saying he can't work, then it's totally wrong for them to penalise him for it.

Would you like me to call my dad and ask him what he thinks about that? He used to be an employment tribunal chairman before he retired, so even though he isn't right up to date on things he'll probably have an idea of whether they're allowed to do that.

That's what I think too. I mean, he's there and willing to work, it's them that's saying no.

That would be good, thank you. I think you can never have too much information.

that doesn't seem fair, that he should be punished for their health and safety problems - poor guy!

I know, I was very annoyed, especially as it's happened a few times now.

That really sucks!

It also sucks that I get no time to read fic! Because I would love to read your bandom ones ^_~!

It does suck. He went in today and the lifts broke down again while he was upstairs, at which point he was told if he went downstairs they'd assume he was deliberately wanting to get out of work.

Bandom is my big love right now. By the time you can catch up I'll probably have 792789393 stories *g*
