Tony Hart died. Woe. He was such a big part of my childhood.

Man, do I love freecycle. We've been sleeping on a mattress on the floor for a long time now, and then a few weeks ago James put out a want on freecycle and a lady replied saying she had a king size bed we could have, but we'd have to wait until her daughter left for university. We got the bed yesterday, and it is so good. It's actually a super kingsize, and it's airsprung with one those attached mattress topper things that make it extra soft and comfy. Sleeping last night was like being cradled by a cloud.

Something that may also be good. We got a letter stating the hotel where the whole toilet falling off the wall disaster happened is offering to pay for private physio if James wants it. Obviously I'm no expert, but I'm hoping that it's a sign that they may be accepting responsibility. So, fingers crossed, that's going in the right direction.

More freecycle stuff. Today a lady came to pick up a solid plastic dog bed we didn't need. She has a rescue greyhound who gets nightmares and becomes incontinent during them, so they've been after a large bed like that for a while. She sent such a lovely email, saying the dog loves the bed and was sending tail wags in thanks.

We also took Tex to a nearby nature reserve, and went for a short walk before doing the whole Sunday relative visiting thing. So yeah, it's been a good day :)

Finally. You guys are all awesome. Every single one of you

It's so fantastic, way above what we could afford. The only issue is it's so big I have about five inches between the side and the wall, but that's a tiny thing :)

No movies today either?

I just got back from the movies- it was good! Sad and moving, but good.

Yay! for your new bed! It sounds super awesome.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for James.

Freecycle sounds like a great thing to have. I don't think it would work here, except in Stockholm possibly, we haven't got the population size for it.

It makes me happy to hear that other people have had better Sundays than I have.

It is. It's giant! I had no idea they made beds that big outside of the custom kind.

Thank you :)

Freecycle is really cool, but you do need the volume of people to actually make it work. Otherwise you'd just be passing stuff back and forth.

I'm sorry your Sunday wasn't good. Hopefully today is better.

Hey, congrats on getting the new bed! I'm not familiar with freecycle, but it sounds awesome. Good luck with the hotel taking responsibility--they probably think it's cheaper than being sued. ;)

Thank you! Is is an awesome thing, basically it's run through yahoo groups specific to your local area, then people advertise things they don't want any more and you email in and hopefully get them, no cost involved at all.

Yeah, the hotel is doing the right thing, I hope.

Aw, my heart is breaking for that poor greyhound now. How horrible must his/her nightmares be for them to cause incontinence? :(

I know. It sickens me that he's obviously been treated so badly that it causes nightmares like that.

Free stuff is the best! We have a cool noticeboard on the uni website for exchanging stuff, and I've found a water kettle and some other useful stuff there.

A nature reserve sounds like a lovely thing to have nearby.

Free is awesome, especially as so much stuff is thrown away while it's in perfectly good condition.

We're really lucky that we're surrounded by nice stuff to go and see. I'll have to take my camera one day.

Woot, for the new bed! (I keep meaning to sign up to freecycle, because we have stuff like old computer chairs building up in the garage and the loft, and they'd not be worth the trouble to ebay, but they're in too good nick to just take to the tip.)

And good news with the hotel. That definitely sounds like they're starting at accept liability.

ETA: I completely missed the first line until after I hit post. Tony Hart died? {massive massive sadface} Somewhere, Morph is shedding a little plasticine tear.

The bed is awesome. I wasn't even aware you could get them that big, and yet there it is, in all its space taking up glory.

We use Freecycle a lot, for both getting and getting rid of stuff. I like the idea of the give and take of it all.

I hope so, I can't see why else they'd make that offer. I know at the time we were prepared to let it go with a refund but after we found out it had messed up James' operation I thought screw it, and threw in a claim.

He did. He was such a big part of my childhood growing up, even if I never got a picture in the gallery.

Me and my roommate have been looking for something similar to freecycle in Québec... But still nothing.
It's such a good idea!

It's a fantastic idea.

It's a shame there's not a group near you because it's ideal for both getting rid of and getting stuff.

Ah, new bed, always an awesome thing :-) That freecycle site sounds like it's a very good place to visit!

Good news re: the hotel, and it's seriously the least they could do. Fingers crossed that's going in the right direction, all right!

You guys are all awesome.

You're not bad yourself lol ♥ ♥

It's an excellent place. James has joined a lot of the local groups and keeps a beady eye on them all.

Yeah, it is the least they can do. Still, a positive sign I hope.

Freecycle is awesome indeed. I was very happy indeed not to have to pay for hauling away the old futon when I got my new one!

I will keep my fingers crossed that the hotel folks continue to shape up. XX

It's a fantastic scheme, and that's what I love about it the most, that it goes both ways to help people.

Thank you, honey.
