I've meant to rec this from the first story, but keep forgetting.

liketheroad has written a series that I adore beyond measure. It's the For Keeps universe, and while the first story was very much focussed on Ryan/Brendon, since then many other people from many other bands have become important characters in the universe.

Her Mikey kills me, and they have this house that's like a castle and it's a house of magic because it's a place where people find their homes. Which sometimes aren't even in the house, but that doesn't matter, because it's a central gathering place filled with love and gah, I can't do it justice with my words.

Just go, read. She posted the latest today, a Pete/Tom which is just gorgeous. But each part is great. So if you haven't already, start at the beginning and then read them all.

I love, love, LOVE this series. I was going to squee about it to you in email since I saw your comment on the latest story, but here you are rec'ing it, so I'll squee here.

Mikey and Ray providing a safe haven for Brendon and Ryan, so adorable OMG! And then Gerard finding love with Spencer and Jon. It's all so squee-worthy.

YES!

You know when a story comes along, and when you read it it makes you feel happy and secure? This story is that, which is weird in a way because bad things do happen. But they happen is such a way that you know they'll be dealt with and there'll be people there to love and give support at all times.

If you saw my comment you'll have seen the part I highlighted, because to me that's such a vital thing. That Mikey and Ray have this magical house, and they took in Brendon and Ryan when they needed it the most, and not only that, but they're there when anyone else needs them.

Gerard buys apology kittens! And he gets stupid sometimes, and who can blame him? But they show him how cherished he is and Gerard should always be loved like that!

And you know how much I love Mikey and Ryan being friends and I want to live in that house too!

I felt so bad for Tom in this latest part, and Pete was so great with him and omg, Pete nearly went for Gerard but Ryan stopped that disaster in the making. Pete, he does need lots of cuddles, and he's getting them now and he's got someone who loves him, lots of people who love him in fact, but someone with that special love, the kind that he needs.

There's not a part of the universe that I don't like.

PS - MIKEY AND RYAN'S FRIENDSHIP IS SO IMPORTANT. AS IS PETE AND MIKEY'S. ESSENTIAL. Um, if I can babble for a minute, the story is all about FAMILY and FRIENDSHIP and obviously there are people in love but it is how they are all part of a network of support and apology kittens that truly matters!

Babble on for as long as you want, I love hearing about this verse. I was thinking about it last night, and it's the fact that it's so obviously about family and friendship that makes me adore it so.

Everyone should have that support available to them. Everyone should have a magical castle house where they can go.
