Feb. 6th, 2009 10:46 amBecause I'm sure you're all on the edge of your seat over my Kerrang woes, James called Sky and it's now back, in fact right at this moment I'm listening to Green Day from the start. James is very good at things like that, he just keeps on talking until he's satisfied with the outcome.
I suspect my monitor may be on its way out. It went off yesterday, and then while I was in the middle of an email my cursor turned invisible. It was the weirdest thing because it was still depressing buttons on the screen, just I couldn't see it, so was having to guess where it was. Thankfully all the time looking at a screen means I could picture that pretty well, but still. Very annoying. I rebooted in the end, and then James played with the mouse settings. Which reminds me, I must change my cursor so my dinosaur is back, I miss him.
Last night we also watched the two episodes of Generation Kill that had been DVR-ed. What a fantastic series! I need Sunday to be here so I can see the next one. It was a little confusing at first because so much was happening, but soon I was rooting for them all, and many times I could hardly breathe for tension.
Was there no new Criminal Minds, NCIS and CSI this week?
Yesterday was all about the crossover twittering, with Joe twittering to Mikey and Alicia to Andy. I tell you, the twitters are an endless source of amusement to me.
I've seen this around, so if you have questions, go for it.
Comment with a story I've written, and I will tell you one thing I knew, learned, or wondered about while writing the story that didn't make it onto the page.
Who knows, I may even remember writing the story.
And now, I'm off to watch SPN.

Date: 2009-02-06 11:41 am (UTC)I still don't know if CSI was new last night.
Alicia twittered to Andy! Discussing polyamory, I bet. What with Andy's harem, and Alicia's whole Mikey/Frank/Jamia thing. Heh.
And, I'll play. What did you learn/know writing Richard of York?

Date: 2009-02-06 12:20 pm (UTC)I haven't found any torrents yet, but I still have hope. Really, this chopping and changing of scheduals is annoying.
She did! With an xoxo, which I like to think she got from Frank. Which nicely supports the multiple thing *g*
Oh, Richard of York. That people don't get my titles maybe. I'm trying to think of something I didn't tell you at the time, because you were very much a sounding board for that story.
Really, what I wanted was a chance to show Mikey's side of things. I remember writing the main story and being gutted that there was no way I could show Mikey and Frank's first meeting due to the POV issues, and you know me, I love my codas.
Something that's my canon for the future of that story. The pansy becomes the flower for Mikey and Frank. They love each other, but don't tend to say it a lot, but that doesn't matter, because Frank always ensures that Mikey has at least one pansy growing at all times, and some time later, when they're solid and know they're going to last, each get a pansy tattoo, and each time they see them, they know it means, I love you.
And obviously I learned I was a sap for that story, too. Not that it was news as such *g*

Date: 2009-02-06 01:31 pm (UTC)It is a weird year too. Usually February has new episodes since it is Sweeps, but everyone seemed to have used up their new episodes in January. I don't get it.
Richard of York insider information, YAY!!
I totally get that the Pansy is the flower for them. That is wonderful canon to add to my internal landscape for that story. That is actually the thing I remember best about the story, Frank putting the pansy behind Mikey's ear at the Flower Show. So cute!!
You, a sap, no way!! Hee.

Date: 2009-02-06 06:30 pm (UTC)And you know, I wanted to talk about colours, how Frank and Mikey were surrounded by flowers, all bright and beautiful. And no one got that.
It's to cry!

Date: 2009-02-06 12:23 pm (UTC)It was a fantastic story, though some of the scenes were very harsh. I suspect they'll get harsher yet though.

Date: 2009-02-06 01:09 pm (UTC)Is that what you were expecting? *g*
Actually, the main thing I found out about was the fact that holiday camps are just not known outside of the UK. If I'd have known that I would have added links to explain, or maybe done something else because I think for a lot of people that story made no sense at all.
Something that you wouldn't know. I changed the end a lot after the first beta. Originally Justin ended up getting together with JC at the duck pond after being carried home from the party and puking in Kevin's shoes. The end scenes were only added very last minute. Oh, and the llama mascot had many names as I was writing.
And as a bonus. I also spent the whole thing knowing it was going to be hated by many JuC fans as it looked like trickc until very near the end. But, I was writing what I thought you would like, so did it that way anyway.

(I was betting on a tea bagging reference. ^_~ )

Date: 2009-02-06 01:21 pm (UTC)Boo on the monitoring issues - I wish the teleporter was working so I could just send you our spare.
I am so, so far behind on all my tv shows...
I saw Joe's 'Mikey Way' twitter, but have missed the rest. *pouts*
Storywise.... how about Sound Tracking?

Date: 2009-02-06 01:37 pm (UTC)I don't know what's up with the monitors for my computer, but this one is hanging in there, so hopefully that will continue.
I'm very creepy and follow Alicia on twitter, though I saw Andy's reply on the fuck city twitters first, and went to see what she'd said to him. Like I said, creepy.
Oh, Sound Tracking. I could talk about that for a long time.
Something you may not know. When I was planning it out I intended that all four of the guys were on separate planets, but that would have pushed the word count up hugely and I was already freaking out about length. As it was
So yeah, there was always going to be 4 separate rescues. But in the end doing it in pairs worked nicely. Because it gave Mikey and Frank that connection and also allowed Matt to die a heroes death. Which was something that I'd known would happen from the start. He's made to be a villian so often I wanted to change that somehow, and him dying for Gerard seemed a good way.
Also, at first Frank was tortured in a much more brutal way, but I was persuaded he wasn't important enough to warrant that treatment. Which I agree with in terms of the story, but I still love the idea. He was kept in a machine that meant he couldn't move at all, and was kept alive by tubes shoved into his body, and then the facility was abandoned and he was left to die.
As for something I found out. That I was capable of writing long, which is something I was dubious about.

Hmmmmm... Bob and the Kittie Kats :-)

Date: 2009-02-07 02:31 pm (UTC)Fingers crossed it will hold together. It better anyway because I can't afford a repair or replacement just yet.
Bob and the Kittie Kats.
I remember writing that so fast. It was still in my phase of thinking I wasn't going to write bandom full time, which is why it's not beta read, because it wasn't a 'real' story. Oh how far I've fallen.
Honestly, all I can remember about writing that is how much fun it was, and that in my own personal canon Bob, Mikey and Gerard end up sleeping together often. Not the bunks usually because there's not enough room, but if they're at a hotel, or even sitting watching tv on the bus Bob will suddenly have an arm full of Way brothers as they both snuggle close.
Not that he minds at all :)

Date: 2009-02-09 03:10 pm (UTC)That was the story that set me firmly on my way with the utter love of all things Way. I'd written about them before this, but only a short snap shot of scene, this is the one that made me think about their relationship, and I was gone.
I'm sure I've admitted this before, but The M & G Thing was my working title, and when I couldn't think of a real one, I just went with it.
I'd love to do a full length waycest story, one that tries to address the whole blurred lines of their relationship. Because they fascinate me in how much they adore each other and how their interactions sometimes take on a sexual slant while onstage. It makes me wonder how Mikey deals with the two different Gerard's, where on one hand he has his brother and the other someone who thinks it's okay to lick Mikey's chest onstage.

Or maybe even Mikey and Alicia still keep in touch with the FOB people, which is just as happy making.

Date: 2009-02-14 11:13 am (UTC)Doesn't it feel like you're always trying to save your monitor from death? Poor you. And poor monitors, of course!
The meme now, I guess someone else already asked but I'm too lazy to go through the comments - sorry! - so what about Tints of Rainbow Hue? Of course, you could also tell me something you learnt while writing the Broken Brendon story!
You'll realise how incredibly behind EVERYTHING FANNISH I am when I'll tell you that I still haven't watched last week's SPN! Nor the one before that! And now I also have to download and watch the premiere of Dollhouse so I just should find a way to make the days longer. Would be easier.

Date: 2009-02-14 01:56 pm (UTC)I wish I knew what was up with my monitors. If this one goes it'll be the third one for this computer, and that's without counting the repairs. It's ridiculous.
What did I learn from the broken Brendon story? That I'm very evil at times maybe? And there's very little I don't want to put him through *g*
Tints of Rainbow Hue. You know, that story will always be special to me because I managed to touch people. I did a lot of research about depression, because I'm lucky and have never gone through anything like that, so knowing I got Gerard's feelings right was such an incredible feeling. That story made me respect Gerard a lot, because he did survive being so depressed, and went on to do something amazing. He's awesome.
You really are behind. Not that it's surprising, you've been so busy lately. You'll have to tell me what you think of Dollhouse. I'm not sure if I'm downloading it yet.
