Feb. 11th, 2009 03:55 pmIt's Corey's birthday today. He's 13 so we're saying hello to the teenage years, I suspect they'll be interesting.
We put banners up for him last night, bought a chocolate cake for later and now he's just settled in to play his new computer game. Maybe he'll move in the next few hours, but I doubt it. So yeah, happy birthday to my kidlet, who will always be my baby, no matter how big or old he grows.
James has to get his cast changed today and because it should have been a quick in and out I stayed in the car. We were parked opposite the maternity entrance and I saw two tiny babies going home, their parents so happy they were almost glowing, and these new people, all bundled up in their car seats, seeing the world for the first time. They've got so many wonderful things to discover, and that starts in a car park on a cold sunny afternoon.
Before that James had called in the fish shop for dinner. While there a woman got talking to him and informed him that she only ate English food. No curries or pasta or pizza, and I just thought how sad that was. That you were so stuck in your ways you'd try nothing new.

sperrywink is my favourite, because we're plotting! Something fun, well we think so anyway *g*

Date: 2009-02-11 06:42 pm (UTC)There are definitely worse things than sunny afternoons, even if a bit cold, to see on your first day out in the world.
Yeah, that's really sad. And what a boring life it must be to only eat one sort of food all the time.

Date: 2009-02-12 09:51 am (UTC)Yeah, I think a sunny, crisp, cold afternoon is a good start in life.
And what a boring life it must be to only eat one sort of food all the time.
Exactly. I mean, I don't like every food out there, but I'll give stuff a try at least. Silly woman that she was.

Date: 2009-02-11 11:33 pm (UTC)Hmm, I need some babies in my life. Come on friends, procreate! :D
Sticking to English food might sound like a good idea, but I bet it's going to be difficult to define that a lot of the time!

Date: 2009-02-12 09:27 am (UTC)Babies are fun! Especially when you can give them back.
Honestly, I was boggled at the English food comment. I really can't see her having much variety in her food at all.

Thank you. It was nice watching those babies take their first look at the world, safe and cozy in their carriers.

Date: 2009-02-14 11:06 am (UTC)I guess I understand how you're always telling me you're still seeing me as a 'baby' of 22/23, because when I think of him I quite often think of him as the little kid he was when you and I met!
And now he's a teenager. Dude!
They've got so many wonderful things to discover, and that starts in a car park on a cold sunny afternoon.
Sounds like poetry, sis *hugs*
Hope all is well with James now *kisses*
