Feb. 25th, 2009 08:59 pmEarlier we were watching the news and Durham is getting a new ice rink! There is a very real possibility the Wasps are coming back to Durham! As soon as the 2010/11 hockey season! It's been so long since the Wasps left Durham and we've never moved on to support another team, because they weren't ours. 13 years, and I've never stopped believeing that one day my team would come back.
I was at the Riverside rink for every home game from when I was a young teen to when the team disbanded. Rick Brebant, the #9 forward was my first big crush. I have drawers full of autographed programmes and hockey magazines. I have so many memories of the hockey years, how the rink was deadly with its lack of plexi glass or nets around the boards. How there were no seats for a long time and the floor moved in certain places. The lines to get in, the singing, the swish of blades on ice and the fights.
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for sure, but right now, everything looks positive.
Also, my monitor is fixed. James got a new card last night and fitted it really easily. Though there were issues about actually buying it. He called into PC World on the way home from work and they were going to charge him over £100, which didn't sound right at all. We'd had offers of help so he was coming home to use those when he decided on a whim to call into an independent store. They were technically closed, but opened up for him, gave him a card for way cheaper than £100, and it worked. We're still sharing limited net access, but that's fine as long as I have my own computer.
MCR continue to be awesome. The blogs and twitters have been delighting me, and now it seems Ray has a suicidal phone, too. Then there's

To end, have a gip. I've never had a me icon before, but that's me at last years Camp Sparkle. Hair decorated by Rikes and various other Camp Sparklers, icon made by Turlough :)
