Mar. 19th, 2009 12:00 pmFor you people that have a Last FM, how do you deal with random friend requests? I don't mind the friends requests but I guess I don't know why anyone would want to if they didn't know me. I mean, stalking friends to see what they're listening to, sure. Some random person, not so much. I blame the boots o' sex icon, it draws people in.
I've started my BBB. I have 50 words, rejoice with me.
It was such a beautiful day yesterday we went to the beach for a walk. Sunshine and the seaside, it was the perfect end to the day. Sadly no plodging just yet but soon. We were going to go again later but instead it's grocery shopping then a Scout meeting about the France trip.
Tinker has a new favourite place to lie, on top of my monitor. Which is fine except when her tail slips in front of the screen. Trying to read with a black cat tail twitching in front of your eyes isn't easy.
Sometimes people make me so angry. There's been a story over here about Cerrie Burnell who's a presenter for CBeebies, the BBC's children's channel. Because she has an undeveloped arm some parents have been protesting, saying their children will be scared or have nightmares. Which is rubbish, the only way they'll be scared is by having close-minded bigoted parents who probably think anyone who looks different should be locked away.
Last thing,
kaethe is selling a lot of zines here, including a lot of TS. As I have a few fans on my flist I said I'd pimp.

Date: 2009-03-19 12:26 pm (UTC)Easy. I don't add them. :-D

Date: 2009-03-19 12:34 pm (UTC)I'm really struggling to think why anyone would even friend strangers there. It's all very strange.

Date: 2009-03-19 12:35 pm (UTC)Uh oh. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? ;-)
And yeah, I don't get it either. It's not the most network friendly place and I just don't get it anyway. If it's someone I know, it's cool to see what they're listening to, but I don't even check THAT very often.

Date: 2009-03-19 12:46 pm (UTC)It's a Den thing, in that I know you like to know who's reading/friended to you, so good :)

Date: 2009-03-19 04:05 pm (UTC)Walking on the beach in the sun sounds so fabulous. I'm bummed that I'll still be on sticks next weekend because that gets in the way of beach visiting with you.

Date: 2009-03-20 09:54 am (UTC)It was a lovely walk. Spring sunshine is always good, and you have an open invitation to my house. Beach walking will happen in the future.

Date: 2009-03-19 04:56 pm (UTC)Yay!! Are you still going with the MCR gen recording-in-a-big-spooky-house thingy?
We'd lovely sunshine yesterday too but alas, no beach to walk. The sea always makes a good day even better!
That's one of the good thing with LCD monitors, they're far too narrow for cats to sleep on :-)
People are idiots, especially some parents!

Erm. No /o\ I sort of have a few hundred words of MCR and various other people living on a boat because the land has been infected with monsters somehow and it's the story of their fight to survive against people attacking their boat for supplies and medication running out and how that affects the group. I have no idea if it'll work tbh. The whole point of joining BBB was always to see if I could write long and I've done that. So now I'm playing. See if I can maintain a tight POV within a small space story wise over the 20k. It could be the most boring story ever, but I'm losing nothing giving it a go.
It's been good to see the sunshine back, I've missed it.
I'm hoping Tinker finds a new favourite place soon. While I do like having her close and she looks cute, the tail really is a distraction.
Yeah, I have to agree.

Didn't you prove that already with Sound Tracking? *checks* 45,380 words You did!

That sounds cool, I like tight POV. Whose POV are you writing from?
I'm losing nothing giving it a go
That's very true. I'm sure you can do it!!
Sunshine makes SUCH a difference!
Right now Lancecat's favourite spot is either the dirty laundry OR my computer chair - I prefer those days when it's the laundry :-)

Date: 2009-03-20 06:56 pm (UTC)Yep! Though this shouldn't be as extreme as either Sound Tracking or this new story I've just finished.
I did prove that with Sound Tracking. Which is weird because last year at this time the longest I'd written was just over 20k and I had no idea if I could ever top that and now I want to try and reign in the BBB so it doesn't spiral out of control. I can't let it anyway, I haven't time.
I'm thinking of writing from Gerard's pov. Him dealing with how he's always had this thing of saving the world and now he's in the position of having to save a small group and how that's a hard load to carry.
I just intend to have fun with it, and see if I can tighten my story telling. While indulging in my favourite h/c ;)

Gerard, yay!! And that sounds like such a cool idea!

DDD: WTAF?! Way to fail at being a good parent - you can't even explain to your kid that someone being different is nothing to be scared off?!

You'd think it would be the perfect time to explain that stuff, but no.

Date: 2009-03-19 08:35 pm (UTC)Heaven forbids parents used this opportunity to show their kids that sometimes people are different from them and hey, it's all right, it's no big deal at all! 'Different' should never be an ugly word.
Oh and I was going to forget: 50 words already, yay! *rejoices*

Date: 2009-03-20 10:10 am (UTC)It does, and that makes me sad. This could have been the perfect opportunity for parents to talk to their kids about obvious disabilities, but of course they can't do that when they can't see past their own prejudices.
You're the best at rejoicing *g*
