Other than that, I have nothing. It's a cold, grey day and I'm about to go read the last part of

nopseud's post-apocalyptic story, which has been one of my favourites for a long time.

While I'm doing that come talk to me. Tell me about what you're doing¹/reading²/writing³. Tell me the stories you wish people would write ⁴ or your favourite guy/girl ⁵. I want to know because I'm very nosy like that.

R.e. the story I described: it struck me the other day that in fanfic Bob is 1) hardly ever the h in the h/c and 2) is virtually never the one who gets, you know, tied up or manhandled in pr0n. I feel that this is very unfair! Well. Unfair to me, because I really like both of those scenarios. :P

But yeah. Bob/Gerard h/c with, like, shootouts and explosions, maybe! Or, hostage-taking! Or! Um. Oh! Maybe like, one of those 'car runs off the road in bad weather in the middle of nowhere' stories! (I am totally okay with cliches, yo.)

Yeah, I don't really know. But regardless. Yay!

I am not really that familiar with many of bandom's subjects outside of MCR and PATD, plus the Pete-and-Patrick portion of FOB. But, just as far as that pool of possible fictionalizeable characters go, they seem like really likable people, and also all pretty unique. It's neat.

1. Well, sitting around waiting for pizza before I do a bit more fic writing on my current project.

2. Believe it or not, a fantastically written, hot, sexy, 16 chapter novel length epic, hot, insanely hot Joe Trohman/Spencer Smith fic. It's...gah. ohmygodsogoodanddirty.

3. Dying to talk about it. I'm writing Alternate Band not fic! Maja and Vicky T start a side project electro punk girl band with Ashlee and Jamia! Then they realize they need a drummer and Matt Pelissier shows up fresh from being kicked out of MCR. It's this massive Not!fic all about how they became a band and all their shenanigans leading up to present day. None of them can decide on a band name, Maja has an affair with Amanda Palmer, Vicky T has to learn to balance Cobra and Girl Band, Ashlee learns what family really means (and how to fall in love with a dork), and Matt grows up/gets his shit together/learns the art of motorcycle maintenance.

It's a comedy.

4. I wish someone would write a canon compliant Lyn-Z/Gerard love story from lyn-Z's perspective, how she falls for the dork and how she wins the aproval of his band. I want wedding and baby included! And cuddling! And an eternal fight against the Way stench!

5. Right now? Kind of adoring Spencer Smith a little, which is odd for me, because I've always been more down with Jon.

Mikey/Frank/Pete. I'm co-writing a Summer of Like story with

sperrywink, one that actually ends happily. It's a fun thing to do, it's the first time I've co-written and because all we're doing is swapping comments it's very low-keyed and relaxed.

You're right though, Bob usually is cast as the caretaker in h/c situations. I know I did, though he did get his moment of being blown up.

A mob AU with Bob being the h in the h/c would be awesome. He could be a good guy in over his head! Maybe he's trying to protect his family or something; and then a couple of the mob guys feel sorry for him and try to help but it turns into this big clusterfuck. And the nice mob guys end up having to choose whether to stand there and let Bob get killed or to stop it, even though stopping it is pretty much a death sentence for them, too, but they do it anyway. And. There would be, like, shootouts! Possibly torture! (That could happen off-screen, or be more threatened than actually done, I'm not too picky.) And there would be noble self-sacrifices! And all of the people we care about would miraculously survive and live happily ever after! ♥!!!!

YES. Dude, seriously, like a band story where Bob goes to the bank five seconds before it gets robbed, and because his luck clearly isn't bad enough he ends up being one of the hostages taken as human shields! And it's really scary! The robbers are arguing about whether or not they should kill the hostages, because things weren't supposed to go off the rails like that, it was supposed to be a quick in and out job and now they have fucking hostages and what the fuck do they do now? And Bob is all O_O. Then when the robbers run right into a police blockade there's a shootout and Bob totally gets shot. Just a flesh wound, but still. It is Bob's Worst Day Ever, and he is never going into a bank EVER AGAIN. He'll do all his banking online and at drive-through ATMs, kthx. (His band is freaking out during that whole disaster, of course. And when he's safe there would be a lot of clinging and people yelling things like "NEVER GO TO A BANK EVER AGAIN BOB OKAY BECAUSE, JUST, NO.")

Or, Bob and, I have no idea, Frank and Mikey? Just to be different (for me, anyway. :D). Yes, okay, the three of them are driving somewhere, in the mountains, and it's raining like crazy, and some motherfucker in an eighteen wheeler fishtails and their car runs off the road? Frank ends up with a seriously bad whack on the head, and is pretty much just in and out of consciousness and incoherent the whole time, which, Bob and Mikey are pretty sure that can't be good, but they don't say that out loud. Bob has broken bones and shit, and he's in a lot of pain and there's uncomfortable amounts of bleeding at first, but he's conscious. Mikey was in the back seat and has some bumps and bruises but is otherwise fine, and because he's Mikey and he's hella stronger than most people expect him to be he deals pretty well. He takes care of Bob and Frank as well as he can, and climbs up and down the mountain between the car and the road -- up to the road to try to get reception on his cell, and to look for other cars that might come by, and back down to check on Frank and Bob. It would be Bob's POV, and he knows he'd be freaking out a lot more if Mikey wasn't being so quietly solid and unequivocably certain that everything was going to be okay. Then they finally get rescued, and while the EMTs are getting Frank up the mountain, Mikey waits with Bob, and Bob can see the moment that Mikey realizes that they have actually been saved, and, wow, he really needs to fall apart now. So Bob very carefully pulls Mikey into a hug, mindful of the PAIN, because Bob kind of needs to fall apart now too, but they're okay, and Mikey did that.

...that one would be ANGSTY omg. But I love strong!Mikey stories, so.

Hmm ... the only fic to come to mind is one I read recently which was what I would classify as subtle h/c, centered around Bob and disabilities, but written in such a way that the focus is more on Bob and how he is dealing. To be fair, there wasn't a whole lot of comfort in the fic, because Bob was written as being fiercely independent.

It's sort of unfortunate that in my head, now, I don't consider bandom a fandom conducive to h/c, mostly because of a lack of well-written h/c. There are a few exceptions --

turps, your epic "When Day is Night Alone" was amazing and very, very well-done. Thank you for sharing! Mostly, though, there's not traditional h/c like you guys are describing below -- car crashes, hostage taking, etc. I miss that stuff.

Bandom isn't conductive to well-written h/c at all.

As I said in the post it's my favourite genre of story but actually finding stories that satisfy is a difficult thing. Sure, there's the badfic h/c with cancer curing cocks and copious amounts of blood, but I want the good stuff.
