I appear to have done something to my computer. It boots up fine, if a little slow, but unless I log on immediately I can't get online later. So if I switch it on then log on it's fine. But if I switch it on, then use photoshop or any other programme it won't let me log on later, and I have to restart. It even does that when the screensaver comes on.

I thought the problems I'd been having with it might have been memory related, both of my hard drives were nearly completely full, but I put some of my media files on disc and the memory went up.

So I'm stuck now :(

Also, anyone have any recs for ISP's? I need broadband and can't get cable, and it has to be available in the UK, so that narrows it down *g* BT is pissing me off lately so I'm thinking about changing. I was considering AOL but I've heard some bad things about it, plus it seems to have implemented a spam ban on a load of its customers. I know it doesn't allow mail from bt and populli servers, I know that too freaking well! But anyone else use any others? Freeserve? Anything?

I should write a mail, but well... I don't think it would be a wise move, so it may be safer to use LJ, so here I am *g*

1) Do you remember the tiny TS scene I sent you in one of my last mails? I'd like to know if you think I could do something with it. I mean, yeah sure, usually I just write something and ask you what you think of it afterward, but since I don't really have any strong attachment to this scene yet, I just wondered if *you* thought I could turn it into something.

2) About the mail when I asked you to upload my YnM pic at your site, never mind then, apparently VillagePhoto is being good, so maybe I won't need it after all *crosses fingers*

3) Did you actually receive the stories for Challenge 8.

4) Hmm, I think I don't have a 4 actually lol Oh yeah, well, maybe, hope you sort out all your problem so that I can see ya on my mailbox again one of these days lol I just have one thing to say, hail to LJ! *kisses LJ to death*

I'd recommend Demon, with some reservations. Their customer service is a little random, and for the money they don't give out a lot with a basic account. They aren't the cheapest out there, either.

However, they do provide a very, *very* reliable service. I so rarely have problems getting a connection that it's a shock when it happens. They don't put stupid, arbitrary caps on services, either -- if they call something 'always on', then they mean it. They don't force connections to drop after some preset time.

We've had a Demon account for eight or nine years, an in that time we've occasionally considered looking for another ISP, but we've never found anything else we liked the look of more. When we get broadband at the end of the year (cross fingers, touch wood, offer up sacrifice to the god of exchange upgrades) we'll very probably be going with Demon for that.

I'd try AOL

I know AOL has broadband in the US, dunno about the UK. I've had AOL for years, and it has performed almost flawlessly all that time. A few problems here and there, but I think that's the nature of the beast we call the computer. ;) No ISP is flawless 100% of the time.

Try a google search with "ISP United Kingdom", it should pull up all your options.

Glad you're thinking about dumping btinternet! Now maybe I'll get some darn emails!

Didya get the invite to join the yahoo group I set up for us to write to each other? That could be a temporary way, until you get your ISP straightened out.

Let me know!

Miss ya!

Jenny

Ooops!

To narrow the google search, I'd try "ISP United Kingdom Broadband."
