Today we were supposed to be getting our new couch, awesome spinny chair and pouffe, only for the delivery dude to turn up and announce that it wasn't going to fit in the doors. Of course this is after I'd hauled the old couch and two seater out with Corey. The guy didn't even try, just whipped out a tape measure and said no. To make matters worse he went back to the shop and told them he'd tried every way to get them in. Lying bastard that he is.
We did end up at the hospital yesterday, waited forever, got seen, they tried to take blood which is impossible unless they use baby fine needles and get a really talented doctor or nurse, failed to get that and sent James home and said to go back if it gets worse. He keeps saying it is, I keep saying to give the antibiotics more time to work because the next step will be getting admitted. Plus, with the hovering threat of redundancies he's still adamant about going to work this weekend. At least I persuaded him to drop the overtime he had booked and try to rest up a little. I'm not even touching the phone calls and arguments and general air of frustration that's been the theme of the day.
I guess one positive is we've saved some money.

Date: 2010-08-07 07:45 pm (UTC)The hospital was so frustrating, also icky between the guy who's head was dripping with puss and the woman who kept showing where her son had cut her hand with scissors.
Still, I got James to stay home this weekend and hopefully the rest will help. I told him there's no point going in if he ends up in hospital and needs to take even more time off.

Date: 2010-08-07 06:55 pm (UTC)Also, I'm really curious about this new living room of yours! What with the renovation and the new furniture and all.
How did James feel today? Between him and your sister, it's not really a good season for Terri's family *hugs*

Date: 2010-08-07 08:06 pm (UTC)I'm going to post pictures. I was waiting until I got the new furniture but the old stuff will have to do.
He's about the same. I keep telling him that sometimes you just have to wait but he's impatient.

Date: 2010-08-08 12:34 pm (UTC)Was it a big store, or a local one? What would have happened if you'd already sold your old one, or had it removed though.
Hope James gets better soon.

Date: 2010-08-08 06:47 pm (UTC)It was a small local shop, and just thinking about it still annoys me now. The driver said they had another couch in the back of the van, a smaller one and did we want that instead? Like we'd ever take a three piece sight unseen. He was an idiot.
Thank you!
