Aug. 29th, 2010 01:45 pmOne of my cats caught a mouse yesterday morning, which is disturbing as they're inside cats.
Today is rainy and windy and horrible so I'm staying in, and trying to fix our washer that's stopped working for some reason.
Before I go to do that. Some more fives from

Top 5 bandom crossovers you'd like to read (or write
I blame Sperrywink and Arsenic for this but Bandom/Criminal Minds. I now share the personal canon that Ryan is related to Spencer Reid in some way. It makes so much sense and I want so many stories of them interacting. The problem is of course, the CM team works on pretty nasty crimes, so that would put the bandom people in danger in some way. Wait, what am I saying? This is not a problem at all! Oh, and now I'm flashing on some MCR/CM cross from early days and there's a crime that means the team have to go search the Way house and we'd have Morgan all frowny as he examined the creepy dolls and Reid would be standing in the pit of the basement and looking at all the gruesome drawings and Garcia would hack the computer and they're end up with a profile that stated that the younger brother is some kind of mini bootlegger while the older is a gore obsessed loner who writes Planet of the Apes fanfic.
Bandom/CSI. Simply because I want Mikey and Greg to get in on so badly. I had a master plan to get Sperrywink to write me that pairing, complete with car crashes, amnesia, nursing back to health and lots of skinny, music obsessed boys having sex. Sadly that plan failed, which is okay as she's down with the pairing too, so one day. One day you'll be mine. Though maybe without the car crashes and amnesia.
Bandom/Popslash. Mikey and Chris share a few friends. The connection is there. They can totally meet up one day and end up having hot sex, maybe on Chris' silver space bull with red eyes! Of course if that does happen I may explode with sheer glee.
Bamdom/X Men. I know there's a few out there already but I love super hero stories like burning. People with powers are awesome. I have vague memories of actually writing something like that back in the day. Gah, what the hell was it? I'm thinking it was really early as I'm sure it was a pop/bandom ficlet and I only tended to write those when I was easing into bandom. Anyway, I would love to try a full length story. One where they don't actually want to be super heroes, they just fall into it by accident. Then there would be action and adventure and people almost getting killed and cages and kidnappings and all sorts of good stuff.
Bandom/Anita Blake. I'm not sure if that would be a re cast or an actual crossover. All I do know is Nathaniel would end up in a hot, hot, orgy with all the bandom guys at some point.
Top 5 people you'd like to have lunch with (limit 1 per band - hahaha)>
That's pretty easy. Mikey, Pete, Ryan, Alex and Chris from Nsync. It's a band, it counts.
And wow, that would be a lunch that's made for amazing memories.
5 things Donna (or Dad) thought about Gerard & Mikey
Donna's pouring cereal into a bowl when Gerard comes upstairs.
Usually he stumbles into view, yawning as he make a bee-line for his first cup of coffee. Today he's walks in with a tap of heels and an air of expectation Donna feels before she even turns. When she does her hand slips, little Os falling onto the counter. It takes a moment for her words to catch up with her whirling thoughts the fuck? dress, is he gay a transvestite, a joke? still Gerard, this is fine and Donna sweeps up the spilt cereal, says simply, "You've got something to tell me?"
Gerard's a picture of defiance, chin up and tensed as he says, "It's a social experiment."
"Okay," Donna says, and places the bowl of cereal onto the table.
"You should have worn the black like I said," Mikey says, grabbing the bowl. Pouring on milk he starts to eat, obviously finished with the conversation.
Unable to resist, Donna ruffles his hair, or tries to, her red-painted nails catching against hair made stiff by lacquer. She looks over at Gerard. "Are you going out like that?"
Gerard nods and Donna thinks about her closet, mentally measuring clothes against Gerard. "I've a coat you can wear, it'll finish the outfit."
"Thanks." Gerard relaxes, smiling a little and his heels clip against the lino as he walks to the table, sits with his legs spread wide, the dress he's chosen riding high up his thighs as he takes a spoon and starts to eat out of Mikey's bowl.
Donna goes to get more cereal, her back to the table so they don't see her smile. Her boys are weird, there's no doubt about that, but she wouldn't have them any other way.
~*~*~*~
Gerard's Donna's first born, her perfect boy, her shining star.
She displays pictures on her wall and keeps mementos in a drawer. His first tooth, hair from his first hair cut, a stick figured drawing on paper made brittle with age. They're the tangible memories, the ones that run alongside the ones in her head. Gerard's first smile, his first steps, the way he looked as he first sounded her name.
She's got a life time of firsts and she picks over each one, her love deep and endless for her beautiful son.
In unguarded moments she's also got a last.
It's why Donna's hands shake as she lights a cigarettes, stands outside as she remembers slurred words and manic laughter, her boy hurtling toward an inevitable painful end.
A gleaming casket and the heavy scent of flowers, the sound of weeping mingling with Gerard's favourite songs.
It's not a memory, but it feels like an inevitability, and already Donna's heart is breaking.
~*~*~*~
Donna loves that her boys are so close.
They're best friends as well as brothers and she knows that'll never change.
She just wishes the sometimes Mikey didn't always have to follow his brother. Which is unfair, because Donna knows Mikey's issues aren't the same as Gerard's. He's his own person with his own problems and his own way of dealing.
It's just.
Donna's heart is already fractured from almost losing one son.
If she loses Mikey it'll be completely broken.
~*~*~*~
Donna's never seen her sons wait at the end of an aisle. Never seen them dressed in finery as they stumble over their vows.
In her most honest of moments she admits to herself that she mourns that loss. The chance to dress up in her own finery, extra high heels and hair teased to new heights, a new outfit becoming the mother of the groom as she sat in a church decorated with ribbon and flowers.
But in reality Donna knows that scene would never have happened. It was never for Gerard and Mikey, it was never for her.
Donna's boys are special. They follow their own path and Donna will always cheer them on. She always has, she always will. Especially when that path leads her to the scene before her. When she walks into a hospital room and finds Lindsey sleeping, Gerard and Mikey sitting on a tiny sofa, Gerard's head on Mikey's shoulder as Mikey cradles Bandit against his chest. Father. Uncle. Daughter.
It's moments like these that prove that the traditional isn't needed. That as clichéd as it is, all you do need is love -- and her family has plenty of that.
~*~*~*~
Donna likes to watch My Chem's shows.
Not all of them, but enough that she knows how to find them on You Tube or even better, standing at the side of the stage.
Ear plugs in and clasping her purse she listens to the crowd and watches Mikey rock out with his bass, finally content in his own skin, Gerard stand at the edge of the stage, arms outstretched and singing his message.
Donna knows they were born to do this, and the hard road they've travelled has only made them stronger.
They're Donna's babies, her boys and she's so proud she could burst.

i even know how it's going to start. Bob isn't anti-mutant. He's not one of those fuckers that thinks they should be put down. A) He's not a fucking moron. B) Gerard would be disappointed and Mikey would never talk to him again. But he knows that they've got one thing right. Mutants are a menace. Bob defies anyone to spend a hour on stage with Frankie Xerox Iero and say they aren't.
