I'm enjoying seeing the excitement of people getting MCR tickets so much! My flist has been a very happy place lately ♥

And I see I have a new interview to download and listen to, which delights me.

Other than that, I downloaded five shows this morning. Thankfully two were only half hour episodes, but still, I need a day where I don't download anything just so I can catch up. This morning I've finally watched Glee, though half the episode gave me the motts big time, then The Big Bang Theory and Community, both of which I enjoyed a lot. I still have The Mentalist, CSI, Terriers and NCIS to go. I was going to ask if anyone had enjoyed any new shows, but really don't have the time to add more to my watch list.

My eye has been annoying me lately. For those that don't know I had Bell's Palsy around this time last year and while the facial paralysis went in around a month my right eye remained feeling a little weak. It closes fine, which is good because I really never want to have to tape my eye shut again, but I guess the nerves hadn't reknit completely, which I was warned about at the time. It seems they've decided to start working again now, which is great, but also like I said annoying. But it does mean I get to be my own fic cliché with eye twitching going on.

ETA: Forgot to say, my sister and her girlfriend have had their names tattooed on each other's necks. They've been dating less than a year. Though the girlfriend has stuck around through all mam's drunken crap so she has staying power it seems.

Talking of. Yesterday was a good writing day, finally getting my part up on the Pete/Mikey dustverse with T, more words on other stories, and somehow, over 1k of Way centric, prison, h/c killjoys fic. Which just happened. One minute I had a blank page and the next there were words! Now I just have to decide if I want to leave those words as what's essentially a h/c pwp or make them into an actual story.

Gerard, Mikey and Ray on Australia's The Hit List I was just listening to that and I want to see pictures of all their cars. That's not creepy, right? /o\

I still have to watch CSI too but I've been up since 7am and I can barely keep my eyes open. I think I'm going against all my principles and actually have a nap. Right about now zzzzzzzzzzz.

Everyone's so happy. I love seeing my flist all filled with squee. (Though I'm sooooo envious of everyone getting to go to one of their shows!!)

I've just listened to the Kerrang interview and the Australia Hit List one and I too want to see pics of their cars! So I totally refuse to believe it's creepy!

Well, if those 1000 words are all h without any c then yes, I would say you definitely need to make it into an actual story ;-D

PS I guess it's a good thing your eye's started working properly again but it must be very irritating to have it be all twitchy. I hope it will calm down soon.

You missed all the ladyboy posts? Yeah, there's been controversy, but he's just said on twitter that the skater guy was never meant to be actually called lady boy, it was just what was on the call sheets and people began calling him that. His real name is Show Pony.

They got captured by Dracs! They're not going to sit there and give them dinner and a movie.

Sadly Gerard has just been almost choked to death and Mikey knocked out so they're in no shape for frottage. Poor boys. Maybe after they're rescued. They can have the healing power of cock!

Ladyboy can be a pretty hurtful term for trans people; there's been a few mentions and some conversation of people being worried about its potential for harm but no major discussion that I've seen. Somebody asked Gerard about it on twitter and he said they had intended to name the character something else (Show Pony, apparently) but Ladyboy wound up getting disseminated instead. (I suggested he make a top-level tweet about it; his clarification came in a reply to the fan who asked him, and I only saw it because someone I follow retweeted it.)

Not everyone is happy about him taking it back, but it's probably better that he does that than lets it stand; I never got the impression that they were trying to create a character who could successfully reclaim such a loaded term (whether or not the band has the ability to pull off that kind of thing, I don't think it was their goal).

I've seen some flocked posts about it and am glad he has addressed it. I hope he does follow your suggestion too because I think it's something that needs to be seen on a wider level.

What I've found interesting about the whole situation is that the term seems to have different levels of offence to different people. I wasn't sure if that was a cultural thing or not so while I haven't enjoyed the thankfully few angry posts I've seen, I have learned from this.

It is a cultural thing. Not just macro-cultures, either - there's a certain degree of division in the trans community between people who reject words like ladyboy and tranny as offensive, and people who want to reclaim those words. (My sister is one of the latter and so are most of our friends; it took other people calling attention to the issue for me to realize that, no, they probably hadn't thought it through and weren't accidentally going to stumble into non-crappy representation.)

Exactly! MCR generally signals their statements clearly, and they like to make statements. But they didn't do that with Show Pony.

In my experience, "ladyboy" most commonly signifies an exotic foreign trans woman sex worker. Not sure whether this is the most commonly accepted definition/set of connotations, although I would be willing to stake a bit of money on it.
