There were gales yesterday, hitting their worst last night. Our fence came down, the drainpipes blown off, the outside pipe from the downstairs toilet is broken and the big greenhouse door is probably somewhere over the north sea. Most things had been tied down when it stared getting bad, including the fence, but going to bed we were watching it from the bedroom window and it was obvious no way was the thing going to stay up. And it didn't, but of course it collapsed outwards blocking the path instead of into the garden, which meant going out and dragging it out of the way.

A neighbour and the FiL have been fixing the fence today, but haven't put the planks on yet as it's still really windy. Which worries me as past experience shows that some people think nothing of walking into our garden and taking stuff. Still, compared to some people this is minor damage so I'm not complaining too much. ( expect when I have to stand in the garden making sure Tex doesn't get out of the garden, then I complain to myself, very much so. )

I also have another cold which displeases me. I'm having to blow my nose so much I'm afraid it's going to burst into flames due to friction. Also having day dreams about tissues that come with balm. However, tonight James and Corey went to Scout Camp for two days. It's just me and the dog, cats and fish. A fuzzy red blanket, big mug of coffee and the only person to look after is me. There aren't enough hearts in the world.

I always think strong winds are both scary and exhilarating, but there's no doubt they do terrible damage. I'm glad it wasn't worse for you and hopefully this will be the only bad storm you'll get this year. (The winds are pretty strong here this evening but they're not expected to reach gale force except out at sea. *keeps fingers crossed this is true*)

Ugh, having a cold is so exhausting. I feel so sorry for you. Hopefully you'll start feeling better soon. But yay!! for a having two days to yourself!

Having all the time you want to play on the net for two days is totally the best medicine!

I guess you have plenty of stories lined up to read but if you want a reccomendation I'm reading [livejournal.com profile] mrsronweasley's werewolf story right now and it's SO GOOD! First class characterisations and superhot sex. I'm trying to really savour it but I'm already on part 7 and I don't want it to end ever!

We're having the same weather over here so I know how you feel. We're on day two and apparently it'll stay like this til Monday. Flood alerts. Yay. Not.

Feel better!

the wind was horrible here yesterday! it really had me scared...

oh no, colds suck! though if you have access to vitamin c pills, get the 1000 mg. my aunt, the dear one who works in a hospital, always said one of the doctors said a high dose of vitamin c is the best and it is true. if my cold is really bad i take two of these and the next day i'm almost fit again XD

I hate the wind. It is scary, especially when you can hear things clashing and banging outside.

I don't have access to those but will look into getting some. Thanks for the tip ♥

i found them here at boots, so if you have one near you :) my mum takes them as well when she is having a cold, though she is sticking to the instructions and only takes one a day when she's feeling low XD

I hate high winds, they really scare me. I spent most of last night huddled under a blanket trying to ignore various ominous creaking noises. But I am sorry to hear the gales caused you so much damage. That sucks. *hugs*

And more hugs for the cold too.

High winds are the worst. I'm just glad it did happen when I wasn't alone or I'd have been frantic.

Colds do suck. I don't even have a hot band boy to have bunk sex with to make me feel better.

Aren't there tissues like that? I know we used to have some here in Sweden... I do hope you feel better soon!

WIND! Daaaamn! Enjoy your relaxing day though, sorry you're sick!

PS I hate sore noses too, and I find the "lotion-filled" tissues don't really work... the only thing that works for me is using soft cotton handkerchiefs like these (http://www.hankettes.com/Handkerchiefs) and putting some heavy-duty skin cream -- like the kind you can buy for dry heels or elbows -- on your nose at night or in between blows! It's so lovely now when I have a cold to have a happy nose!

I hate the wind. It can be so destructive.

I've never wanted a handkerchief more. Those look lovely and soothing, but I am using your heavy duty skin cream tip and it's helping a lot.

Thank you.

The wind is gone today so hopefully the rest of the fence can be put up. I don't want another night standing in the pitch dark, wrapped in a blanket and waiting for the dog to pee.

The fence is fixed. Which I'm very relieved about. I know it's silly as people can easily get in if they're determined, but I hate the garden being so exposed.
