Like many other people in bandom I've been glutting myself on no_tags stories. So much glorious, wonderful fic, and I still have so many stories open in tabs to read. I'm so impressed by the variety of stories, and many interesting and clever AUs. What I especially like is that while there are a lot set in the Killjoys verse each one has their own spin. Really, I just want to put my arms around everyone involved in no_tags, the writers, commenters, beta readers, everyone and squish them hard while saying, you're fantastic ♥

It was another good mail day today. I got my My Chem tickets \o/ and also a very lovely letter from [livejournal.com profile] sillyfax complete with Mikey pics :D Thank you so much for what you said, bb, your letter really did make me feel wonderful ♥ always.

Corey started his first paper round this week, which has meant getting up at 6 so he can get to the newsagents on time. I suspect you may guess my thoughts on this matter. For a while I thought it was a seven day a week thing but thankfully he doesn't deliver on a Sunday, and believe me, that makes me happy. Going to bed tonight and not setting the alarm will be a beautiful moment.

For fun only, anyone think they know what I wrote for no_tags? Did you read a story where Mikey was hurt/sick, Pete turned up in a random cameo and lots of hand holding went on and think, that's by Terri?

While it's nice to get new stories over a longer period of time, like BBB or most other challenges, there is something so delightful to be able to really roll around in stories. To feel that you're able to pick and chose what you want to read right now. I still have a couple of stories left to read and I guess I should check the comm again so that I didn't miss any interesting-looking ones.

Tickets, yay!!

Arrrggghhh!! What a horrible time to have to get up! You should totally get a part of his earnings for having to get him up for it :-D

Well, you've been travelling and dealing with a lot, fic reading can't be a priority, and the stories will be there when you're ready.

Lost mail is the worst. Ours has just started trickling in again. No doubt there was a huge backlog due to the snow, which is frustrating, and doesn't help when stuff is missing.

I hate alarms :(

I am the absolute worst at guessing, so I'm rolling around in all the fic gleefully and waiting for the reveal. Though, there *was* that Summer of Like fic that had me all hearteyes...

DUDE. The Killjoys fic being written KICKS ASS. Interestingly, I think my favorites have been the one Bob/Brian KJfic and ones about non-MCR bandom peeps. Well... maybe that's not true. The Bob and Frank one is killer, and I dig the Lyn-Z as a sexbot one, and the couple with Grace in 'em and... Yeah. *laughs* But the ones that really stick out - the one with Pete and Korse being trapped together's super cool and I LOVE the one about William. That one's actually helped kick the Cobra and TAI end of the TS writing pool in the butt again. The William and Gabe road trip fic posted today helped too. I wish someone would write The Used into this 'verse...

Even though there hasn't been a lot of Bob fic, the stuff that's there is excellent. The Bob/Brian KJ fic has my favorite Bob in that 'verse yet - and I'm including my own stabs at the character here. [I suspect your posting the Barbie Jeep GSF fic will cause me to revise my opinion on this matter. ;D]

I suck at guessing too. I have so much respect for anyone that can see and take in writing patters and apply them to people.

OH! You have me flailing about all the different KJ stories. Yes to everything you said. The Pete one was amazing, on the surface it was so simple but underneath it was saying so much.

How would you write The Used in? Another group of zone runners? Bert as a rat in the tunnels of Battery City. I can really see him as a scavenger for some reason.

The Bob/Brain was kickass.

Oh man, you're the best saying that. I'm nervous when I think about posting, probably because I've put so much work into the thing. The other day I googled pink Jeeps, and there's a tour company that does pink Jeep tours in the desert. I was highly amused, and imagined Bob in one of them, scowling and bitching at Mikey in the back.

Me too! It's easier to look at recurring themes or characters, I think. But people sometimes surprise you and go for the challenge and the unusual.

I didn't spoil you for anything, did I? I was pretty vague, but if I did, I'm sorry.

The Pete one was amazing, on the surface it was so simple but underneath it was saying so much.
EXACTLY. I really enjoy it when people dig into the complexity that is Pete. You and Rach are good at this - as is Arsenic, though she doesn't dig into that boy's brain as often. But it really underlies for me how few people are burrowing under, when I hit a story like the Korse one and it's such a breath of fresh air. [I also feel like Pete's not getting written as much - is that true?]

How would you write The Used in? Another group of zone runners? Bert as a rat in the tunnels of Battery City. I can really see him as a scavenger for some reason.

I think you have an inkling of how I'd write them in, personally. >.>

Um, writing them as zonerunners seems to be the way folks tend to handle all the other bands in KJ 'verse. [Are we still calling it Dustverse?] And I can easily see how The Used would overlap and overlap well with the Killjoys. In many ways, The Used's the best fit for KJ 'verse - they are the most similar in feel to My Chem is so many ways, even with the vivid colors and dance beats that go with Danger Days. Well, MSI also - but they are already included in the 'verse canonically.

I digress. The Used.

I can see how working the black market in Battery City would be a good fit. I can see them not just surviving that way, but thriving. Living directly in Bli's shadows difficult, but I think they could manage it. Especially since the Killjoys are off being such a vivid distraction in the desert.

Yes, yes it was. And I am declaring 'kickass' to be the official Killjoys 'verse seal o' awesome. Like 'A++'. :D

I'd tell you not to be nervous, but we both know *that* doesn't work. ;P What I can tell you is all of the bits [AND BOBS HAHA] that I've read over the last few months have been excellent. It sounds like this illustrous Ms. L agrees - and she's a hard-sell, in the best ways possible. So I think you can let go of *some* of the worry. And if not, well, I'm here for hand-holding if needed. :)

The other day I googled pink Jeeps, and there's a tour company that does pink Jeep tours in the desert. I was highly amused, and imagined Bob in one of them, scowling and bitching at Mikey in the back.

This made me squee - CANON TERRI CANON! - and also go all *___* at the mental image.

I've always said that Pete's a hard write. A lot of people seem to write him very one dimensionally, but he's so much more than that. I think you're right too, he's not getting written as much. Though I suspect that's because My Chem fic is on the up right now and apart from the Mikey/Pete people he doesn't slot in as easily than with the Decaydance lot. Plus, FOB going on hiatus seems to have dried up the fic for them, which is a shame.

I think you have an inkling of how I'd write them in, personally. >.>

I do :D

There seems to be various ways of describing the verse. But the main comm is still dust verse so I guess that stands.

Yeah, most people do have the other bands coming in as zonerunners, which makes sense. It's something I was tempted to do for the ladies in my fic but in the end changed that to them running a camp for the families.

I can see how working the black market in Battery City would be a good fit. I can see them not just surviving that way, but thriving. Living directly in Bli's shadows difficult, but I think they could manage it. Especially since the Killjoys are off being such a vivid distraction in the desert.

YES! That would work so well. I'm sitting picturing Bert's smirk as he does some deal under the nose of a drone, and it's an awesome mental picture. Also, Jepha, cool and collected, casually dusting a Drac who has the misfortune to walk into the wrong alley.

You're the best ♥

Pink Jeep canon ftw \o/
