I submitted my BBB last night. After many years of failing at previous BBBs I feel this calls for victory arms \o/
The scouts were supposed to be in the chalet at France by now, but are having a nightmare journey after one of the coaches broke down, leading to them having to spend last night at a garage in Yorkshire. The original plan was they'd be getting the 1am ferry but they ended up on one closer to midday, putting them way behind. There's talk they may stay later than planned to make that back, coming home on the Sunday instead, but whether that happens I don't know. Right now their intended arrival time is close to midnight tonight, making it a 30 hour journey for them all.
While I was away our greenhouse blew down. There'd been a bad wind storm and Corey was alone at the time, but still managed to save most of the plants and take off the cover before it blew away completely. It's been rebuilt now but we've lost plants and the ones remaining are looking very sorry for themselves. I need to go out and repot and re organise as it's chaos out there. Still, at least most have survived, unlike the full tray of pepper seedlings that bit the dust.
I was planning on going out and doing that today but the wind is still bad, so I've left everything tied down and hopefully tomorrow will be more suitable for gardening.
Other than that, I've started to catch up on my flist but for now am about to go watch some TV, because there's an episode of Game of Thrones on the DVR with my name on it.

Date: 2011-05-28 09:11 pm (UTC)I'm sorry to hear about your greenhouse but I think the plants that were saved should mostly bounce back which is nice.

Date: 2011-05-28 10:57 pm (UTC)I think they will bounce back with some tlc and more soil. They seem to be pretty resilient. Which is good when they're being looked after by us *g*

Date: 2011-05-28 10:46 pm (UTC)Sorry to hear about the greenhouse/plants. Plants have pretty amazing recuperative powers, though, so I hope they'll be all right. Bravo to Corey for Prompt Action!

Date: 2011-05-28 10:56 pm (UTC)Yeah, I'm hoping the battered ones will bounce back. Some new soil and hopefully they'll be good to go.

Date: 2011-05-29 03:25 pm (UTC)The blowing away of the greenhouse sucks though. Hopefully the remaining plants will bounce back (I've often been surprised by how a little TLC will bring most plants back to the 'alive and kicking' level.)

Date: 2011-05-29 09:23 pm (UTC)It does suck. I was hoping I'd get the plants re-potted today but it's still really windy, and things just kept getting blown around. Hopefully tomorrow will be the end of it.

Date: 2011-05-29 09:29 pm (UTC)Arrgggh! That sounds like one of the worst starts to a trip I've ever heard about. I hope they made it there last night finally? Hopefully the rest of their trip will be fun enough to make up for the crappy beginning.
Oh noes, but go Corey for going all action hero-y and taking care of everything! And the greenhouse is still intact, that's the most important thing. The plants will grow back, they almost always do.

Date: 2011-06-02 01:33 pm (UTC)Yeah, they got there in the end, but have had other bus issues since. Transport wise it hasn't been a good trip at all.
Yeah, the plants are starting to come back thankfully. Though the radishes are done for I think. They're all withered and brown now.

Date: 2011-05-31 08:39 am (UTC)The wind has been ridiculous lately. I was out yesterday putting things right, so fingers crossed the plants will spring back.

Poor boys lost in the Wilds of England!!
And good luck straightening out your garden.

Date: 2011-05-28 10:36 pm (UTC)They were lost, and bedding down in a garage, but they did that scouty thing of making the best of a bad job and seemed pretty cheerful about it.
Thank you. I'm hoping I can do it tomorrow and get things put right.

Date: 2011-05-28 09:20 pm (UTC)Oh noes, poor James, Corey and all the other scouts! :( I hope they'll get there without further problems now.
Also, bad wind, no cookies! >:( Your poor greenhouse!
I miss you! And where are the cats for cuddling?! I need them!!! :(((

Date: 2011-05-28 10:34 pm (UTC)The scouts should be arriving at the chalet now. I really hope so because the last time I talked to him James sounded exhausted, and no wonder.
I was so sad about the greenhouse D:
And that you're not here. I miss you too! And the cats miss you.

Date: 2011-05-28 09:28 pm (UTC)Sorry about your plants - our potatoes and onions are liking all this rain, but I'm a bit worried about my sweet peas, which I planted out last weekend, i.e. just before all this WEATHER started!
no subject
Date: 2011-05-28 10:31 pm (UTC)Sweet peas, I love them a lot. It sucks that the weather has turned like it has, between the rain and wind it's like we've slipped back into winter.

Date: 2011-05-28 09:38 pm (UTC)And oh man, sorry about the garden and the trip! I hope the rest of their trip will be less eventful!
no subject
Date: 2011-05-28 10:29 pm (UTC)I feel really sorry for them all right now. It's a long enough journey anyway without adding hours spent stuck in a garage. But, they should be arriving any time now, so will get food and sleep.

Date: 2011-05-28 09:39 pm (UTC)My plants are growing away, though I wonder if I've not used too-shallow pots for many of them. Still, so far so good. I've lost a few to storms overall, but hopefully the rest that are out there will continue to thrive, despite the soggy weather we've had for way too long.
Glad you're back from camp sparkle, along with Turlough. I'm sure it was awesome, but I've missed seeing you both on my flist.

Date: 2011-05-28 10:28 pm (UTC)Using too shallow pots is something I've done too. I'll be glad when I have the experience to know what pots need to be used for what plans without trial and error, but I know that'll come eventually.
Camp was amazing, but it is lovely to be back. Even if the thought of getting caught up is a little overwhelming right now.

Date: 2011-05-29 09:19 pm (UTC)I really like Game of Thrones. I hadn't read the books so it took a long time to remember names, and to be honest I'm still not sure of some. But it still keeps hold of my attention every minute.
How's things, bb?
