30 Days of Fanfic Day 7

Despite being in bed and actually sleeping before 10:30 last night I still slept half an hour past the alarm this morning. Of course I'd have been asleep before that but once I got into bed I found a new cupcake show and I'm powerless to resist watching those. Not as good as Cupcake Wars though, then again, Cupcake Wars will always have the edge because they have the Carpenters.

I think at this point I've deleted as many words of the story that's not being written for wave two than I've actually written down. Thankfully it's not plotty so it won't suffer for that but still. I'm going to go open the file now and hopefully will add more, but won't have long to actually write because James has a friend coming over soon. They're going to do scout training stuff, which means I'm going to head off for a long read in the bath while that's going on.

After this was linked on twitter my timeline was full of delicious Ray/Mikey tweets, and I've been reading them like this ♥ _ ♥ More shameless Ray/Mikey porn always I say.

7 - Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?

Well if you go back to The Sentinel days, I didn't like Jim at first. Mainly because I didn't see any actual episodes for a long time and initially got to know the characters with the help from a page of quotes, one where Jim often sounded gruff. Then I read hundreds of stories and quickly decided Jim was kind of awesome. I can't think of anyone else though.

Doesn't watching cooking shows before sleeping make you hungry? I'm certain they would me!

But since you're not writing it does it really matter if you delete a lot? ;-P I hope you'd a very nice and relaxing bath.

I don't think I've had my opinion of a character altered by fic. At least not as I can remember right now. But there's been a lot of characters and a lot of fic over the years so I guess it's possible.

Not really, especially the cupcake/cake shows as I hardly eat them anyway. Now if I was watching a show about pizza it could be another matter.

I had a lovely long bath. Then by the time I got out James' friend was gone.

Some of the questions are weird. The example I gave about Jim was because I knew nothing about him, but I can't think of any occasion where I've known a character and had my opinion changed due to fic. Maybe during the course of the story I'll dislike them or like them more, but once I've finished reading I'll go back to my own opinions.

Fic has definitely made me discover characters and pairings I didn't really think about before, and also made me appreciate characters and pairings I was only mildly interested in. But I don't think that's what the question means.

I think the question is after a more abrupt change, at least that's what I'm getting from it. If it is that it would have to be one hell of a good story to change my mind so completely.

Fic made me fall in love with a lot of musicians, but I didn't have any opinions of them before the fic (because I didn't know they existed, mostly)... so I don't think that counts. :P

You're musician example reminded me I found my favourite boybander through fic, because I hadn't known he existed before that.
