Aug. 18th, 2011 02:12 pmWhat I've been pondering the last day or so

I know which one I want it to be. This gif may give you a clue to what that

After a good start on the unoffical nano I was so wiped last night that I barely got a few hundered words done. But I plan to catch up, plus a story that's been stalled for a long time is now much longer, so win already. Also, status bars are awesome. I've fallen in love with mine, watching the percentage change when you plug in those words makes me happy.
Yesterday I went out shopping with the in-laws. My nephew stuck close the whole time, meaning I spent the time being dragged around by a very energetic 5 year old. After we'd finished that our plan was to go the cinema to see the In-betweeners movie, but when we got there the queue was insane. I know it was orange Wednesday but still, it snaked back on itself at least four times and was heading out of the door when we got there. No way would we have got into the movie we wanted. So we took off and will hopefully see it next week when James is off next.
Talking of James. He's been officially told he's got the home work position. I'm not sure if I actually mentioned this here but he applied to work from home. Initially I was a little dubious because being together 24/7 didn't sound like fun, but what happens is he still does his regular shifts at work, but he's also expected to do a minimum amount of overtime at home every month. They came to check out the spare room and they're going to fit all the gear needed so he can take 999 calls from here. I had no idea people even took 999 calls anywhere but in a call centre but apparently it's so if there's an unexpected busy time or bad weather James will just log in from here and help with the backlog.

Date: 2011-08-18 02:52 pm (UTC)Taking emergency calls from home ... that does seem odd at first but why not, I guess!

Date: 2011-08-26 08:55 pm (UTC)Taking emergency calls at home still sounds weird to me. But I guess they know how to make it work.

Date: 2011-08-18 04:34 pm (UTC)Sounds like you're getting in the swing of it with your writing. Go you!! (But you should post your status bar too! How else are we going to know how well you're doing?! ;-)
Ack, being dragged around by a 5-year-old sounds sooo exhausting.
I'd no idea they did either. It sounds like a great idea though.

Date: 2011-08-18 04:49 pm (UTC)But no, I kept see sawing myself whether it was just a weird angle or had actually happened. Of course if Gerard didn't fondle Mikey's hair often I wouldn't have thought twice, as it was the hope was there.
I wasn't sure if posting the status bar would be annoying or not. I'll do so tomorrow, I may even be over 5% by then *g*
He's a livewire that's for sure. I was ready for a sit down by the time we parted ways.
It's a cool idea. They're going to fit a dedicated internet line and give him top of the range computers, basically the set up he has at work in our spare room. I don't think the cats are going to be amused at being locked out though, they all sleep on the spare room bed.

Date: 2011-08-21 01:40 am (UTC)Huh, I didn't know that emergency calls could be taken at home. Who knew?
I've been writing in spurts. Not as much wordage as I would've wanted, but writing is writing...

I didn't know emergency calls could be taken from home. It still sounds weird to me, tbh.
Writing is writing, yeah. I need to remember that myself.

Date: 2011-08-18 02:44 pm (UTC)You forget how energetic a five year old can be. He wanted to see and do everything.

Date: 2011-08-18 02:20 pm (UTC)That sounds interesting and I had no idea they can work from home either.
Personally, I probably wouldn't want to work from home. Too many distractions!

Date: 2011-08-18 02:42 pm (UTC)Personally I can't imagine sitting in the spare room and working like that, but James seems to think it'll be fine and he knows the job better than me. He'd better not be bashing on the floor for cups of tea, though *g*

Date: 2011-08-18 05:04 pm (UTC)And yeah, I don't think he's exactly stroking it in the picture, but honestly, the way he's looking at him is enough for me. *___*
Edit: Unless... he's not even looking at him. Um. IDK. /o\ But I do know I want to find the video that gif came from. *___* "Gerard touching Mikey" doesn't give me much results on youtube, tho. HDU, YOUTUBE.

Date: 2011-08-18 05:16 pm (UTC)Which we totally have in the gif if not the picture. So, we'll keep our *___* for that.
And man, I know! about You Tube. The other day I wanted to find the mtv2 interview where Gerard tells the interviewer he can't pick on Mikey because he's only little, again. And putting that into search brought up nothing. Fail You Tube!

Date: 2011-08-18 05:18 pm (UTC)I know, it's all so weird to me too. Until they offered the chance I'd have never have imagined calls like that could be taken at home.

Date: 2011-08-18 05:18 pm (UTC)I need to write more today I'd like to have 4 more k done or maybe 5(I'm being an overachiever again I think I might post a progress bar tonight before bed*meaning lol tomorrow morning at like 3am*)
shopping with a five year old soulds like running a marathon to me(but then I've never shopped with a 5 year old only went with my sister and her friend and said friends 5 and 7 year old to a carnival(boy was that an experience)
I didn't know they had an at home position for people running shifts(where I live you have volunteers occasionally who get trained as extra emergency call takers and shit but yeah) I hope it works out well and awesome for him :) )

Date: 2011-08-26 09:10 pm (UTC)Your progress bar is amazing. I remain in awe.
Shopping with a 5 year old was exhausting, he wanted to be everywhere.
where I live you have volunteers occasionally who get trained as extra emergency call takers and shit but yeah
That sounds a little like it, just that's his actual job. I'm glad somewhere else actually does it.

Date: 2011-08-26 09:08 pm (UTC)Yeah, the words will come back eventually, I'm sure they will.
You are the best ever providing the Way touching links \o/

Date: 2011-08-19 01:06 am (UTC)ugh, if the Ways could touch each other all the damn time, that'd be great. although I really think that first picture is just the angle, and not actual hair-stroking. sadly.
...but hey there, .gif. that definitely makes everything better.

Date: 2011-08-26 09:07 pm (UTC)Yeah, sadly I think you're right and it is the angle, which is very sad.
But the gif is right there for us!
