Done for the default icon challenge.
I have to say here that I actually think Chris looked amazing in this time period, and I have a *major*kink thing for the braces. But he looks so uncomfortable in the icon.
~*~*~*~
The photographer says smile, and Chris tries. But it’s hard when he feels ugly, an interloper in this studio full of mirrors that show just how unattractive he is. He hates the feeling; that he’s made to feel uncomfortable in his own skin. But when Chris stands in the glare of lights, camera pointing and assistant fussing he knows exactly what they see. A short man with weird hair and a mouth full of metal.
It’s the braces Chris hates the most, they ache and he tries not to smile, snapping his mouth shut when he feels a laugh bubbling from inside. It wasn’t always like this, self confidence has never been a problem, still isn’t really. But in a profession based on looks every fault is magnified, leaving him feeling awkward and unsure.
The photographer says smile, and Chris tries, managing a weak smile that fools no-one. But it’s captured on film anyway as the lights blaze, highlighting every imaginary flaw. He used to like how he looked; he doesn't now.
