Mar. 21st, 2009 11:37 amMy boys are off bag packing at Tesco today, earning money for their Scout trip to France. So I'm chilling out at home until we go out later. I've had a shower -- Lush shower gel, hmmmm --- enjoyed a most excellent picture choice over at the Mikey daily comm and am about to email some of my most favourite people. Today is a good day indeed.
To add content to a post that's basically the written version of me sitting basking in spring sunshine and being happy, have a LJ meme as taken from
dine
1: How did you come up with your LJ username?
My brother calls me turps, so back in the day when I joined e groups I decided to use that as my user name, except there was already a turps in the system, so I stuck on a random number.
2: Have you re-named before? If so, what were your old names? If you haven't re-named, what names would you want to rename to?
I haven't, but I have been tempted to lose the number because there's this prejudice about people that have numbers in their user name and that makes me sad. I have no idea what I'd change it to, though.
3: How much does your userinfo say about you?
I guess it covers the important things.
4: How long have you been on Livejournal?
It'll be 7 years later this year.
5: What is the longest amount of time you have gone without posting?
Probably just over a week.
6: On average, how many entries do you post a day?
Usually once a day.
7: What are your posts normally about?
What's in my head at the time usually. Which could be anything from what's going on in rl to stuff I've watched/listed to/read. Story ideas, fic themes, it's a jumble really. I also post fic and pictures, sometimes music I like.
8: Is your Livejournal friends only? Why or why not?
Nope. I can understand why people do go friends only but I've got nothing I need or want to hide. I don't mind that there's lurkers reading my journal. Hi lurkers! And if people want to come along and read about my boring day to day life or how I think Chris/Mikey/pegging/h/c/people tied in chains! is awesome, well good luck to them. Saying that, I do lock some stuff, but not much. Non-friends aren't missing anything, honestly.
9: Does your Livejournal have an actual title or are you merely USER @ livejournal?
That's two separate questions I'm sure. My name is: Sofonda Cox, it's my porn star name don't you know? Which is from a chat session with
digital_diva where we looked up our porn star names. Though I feel she got the better end of the deal, I mean, she's busty and I'm outed as fond of cocks? Not on!
My title is: Saving the Vorwuls since 3289, which is something from a series of emails with
arsenicjade
10: How long do you see yourself staying on Livejournal?
Well I have no plans on leaving. I know a lot of people are moving to Dreamwidth and while I will get an account I'm sure, I'm keeping LJ as my posting home. I'll have to figure out cross posting and feeds because despite its problems LJ has been good to me, and I'm not going anywhere.
ABOUT YOUR FRIENDS LIST
1: How many people are on your friends list?
264
2: Why do you choose to add a person to your friends list?
I like what they post about, or more usually they've added me first.
3: Is your friends list an actual list of people you consider friends or more of a reading list?
Both. I have close friends on my flist, and also people I read just for what they post fannishly.
4: How often do you read your friends list?
Every day.
5: Do you use filters when viewing your friends list?
Nope. If I friend you I read you.
6: How much do you talk to people on your friends list off of Livejournal?
Well if you mean email, quite a few. I did used to IM but don't do that any more.
7: Do you do friends cuts? Why or why not?
I don't. I think I've only defriended a handful of people all my years on here. I will defriend if I'm defriended first as I figure they don't want me around, but even then I have to notice that I actually have been defriended as I hardly ever look at my user info.
8: Do you regularly participate in friending memes? If not, how do you normally find people to friend?
I have in the past but not now. Any new friends I get are through seeing interesting people in comments or them friending me first.
9: How often do you add new friends to your friends list?
When I find someone cool.
10: Do your friends have to have things in common with you?
Nope. I have friends who have totally different interests now, different fandoms. I get attached to people and like them because of them not what they like.
ABOUT YOUR ICONS/USERPICS
1: How many userpics do you get maximum? How many of those slots do you actually use?
I have 86 of 133 uploaded. When my extra icons ran out I had to delete many of my icons so I could rotate in my Christmas icon, I still haven't added them back. I'm so lame.
2: Do you mostly use icons made by yourself or by others?
It depends, but mostly others.
3: Do you have your own icon making community? How often do you post in it?
Ahahaha. Right.
4: What fandoms are most frequently seen in your userpics?
I'm not in the mood to count, but know for a fact bandom/mcr has the most by far.
5: How do you find icons to use?
Through communities and posts on newsletters.
6: How often do you upload new icons to your userpics?
When I get a new one I like, why else would I upload icons? For fun?
7: Which of your userpics do you use the most?
My default, because I love it.

Also,

8: Which of your userpics do you like the most?
I love many of them, and was very tempted to use one of the ones with Mikey with the chain around his neck!
However, I picked this one.

9: The old minumum number of userpics was three. Could you see yourself 'surviving' on three userpics now?
I'd survive, but man would I moan.
10: What do your userpics say about you?
I like Mikey Way maybe?
ABOUT YOUR FANDOMS
1: How many fandom communities are you a part of?
Man, I said I didn't want to count.
There's 138 in total, the vast majority of which are fannish, and also many deleted it seems. I really need to update that.
2: Do you join fanfic or icon communities or only the general communities?
I don't join icon comms, but fanfic, sure.
3: How many fandom communities do you moderate?
3 plus a few that were one time events.
4: How often do you check fandom communities for posts?
When I read my flist.
5: Do you contribute to fandom? If so by way of what?
I write, I run communities, I post pretty pictures.
6: Which fandoms are you most active in?
Bandom and popslash.
7: What do your choice of fandoms say about you?
I don't know. If you go by all that I read that I watch too much tv, if you stick to the ones I'm active in, that I like music, sparkly dancing boys and bass players. There you go, that's me summed up nicely.
8: Do you make friends based on fandom?
I tend to get to know them through fandom, and then it takes off from there.
9: Have you ever read (or been featured in) fandom_wank?
I've read before, never been wanked, thankfully.
10: What is one thing you wish you could change about fandom?
I wish people would remember that behind those names on a screen are real people, people who can be hurt by words thrown without care.

Date: 2009-03-21 11:57 am (UTC)I love your "Quiet before the storm" icon. It's so them, you know?
Nice to know other people read their whole friendslist besides me.

Date: 2009-03-21 12:06 pm (UTC)It is them, so quiet and just chilling out together. I love it a lot.
Yep, I read everything. Sometimes when I'm bored I may even read twice *g*
Now stop reading me and go get those 200 words done!

Date: 2009-03-21 12:14 pm (UTC)Reading your answers, I just... I don't know, I was struck with the longing for more time in my day so I could be more involved in fandom, these days. At least I still manage to read my flist. Damn work.

Date: 2009-03-21 12:16 pm (UTC)14,500 words of sweat and torture, but I am DONESKI!!
Except for the editing, and beta'ing, re-editing, and posting... *g*
Just them being friends, it is a wonderful icon.
I sometimes go back and reread as well. Make comments on posts that I had skipped the first time.

Date: 2009-03-21 01:37 pm (UTC)IS IT POSTED YET?!
No, I can wait. Still, go you! You finished it!
Make comments on posts that I had skipped the first time
I do that too.

Date: 2009-03-21 01:38 pm (UTC)That's the thing, I have much more spare time than you. Keeping up with reading your flist is impressive considering how hard you work.
no subject
Date: 2009-03-21 01:56 pm (UTC)And yeah, maybe. I think it's hitting me harder because I used to a) make more time when I was still working, and then b) have more time when I was off work. Though I've learned that I need to better balance work/real life/online life, which is why I have even less time now. But I will NEVER not make time for the flist. I will often interact a lot less than I want to, but I ALWAYS read everything. :-)

There's nothing wrong with entries that only consists of this! We'd lovely, if a little hazy, spring sunshine here today and I haven't done anything besides bask in it ;-)
That's a long-ass meme, if I feel bored enough I might do it myself later today.

Date: 2009-03-21 04:16 pm (UTC)It'll be weird without them both here.
It must be a day for basking. I enjoyed it a lot this morning, filling in this meme while sitting in the sunshine.

WORD. Just... yeah. Me too.
It's something that frustrated me a lot, because people say such incredibly horrible things but because they're not seeing a reaction they seem to think it's okay. And it's not.

Date: 2009-03-24 07:12 am (UTC)Thank you, honey. I love online stuff and fandom but it'll always come second to my family. I'd worry if it didn't.
