I really need to sit and have some fun on my computer. I seem to have spent the last few days battling files etc and it's getting old now.

Today I've set up a pop mail address which means I can e-mail all those people who's ISP's ban BT's servers. So I have yet another e-mail, terri9 at HotPop.com. One of the options setting up my addy was to have a badass ending, I was so tempted *g*

I've been sorting through my files and was gutted to see that the ones I'd saved from one addy have been lost. The files are there but they're empty. To say I was upset was an understatement. It had to be the addy that the stories submitted to the MX archive come to. There were a lot of LoC's too, all gone. I'll have to post a grovelling mail at my site asking for stories to be resubmitted. I'm such an idiot at times :(

Spent an hour on the phone to tech support trying to discover why google and other search engines don't work and got nowhere. What makes it worse is they work fine at Kayleigh's on Blue. Which really makes me think it's something to do with XP.

After the mess I made of my files I created a new LJ today for all my stories and started to upload *everything* I've written. Finished stories, WIP's, drabbles, snippets, story ideas. They're all going up. It's friends locked and I may leave it private, haven't decided yet. Just using it as a back up at the moment.

Sigh, going to read some smut, see if I can cheer myself up.

It's really upsetting when it happens. Knowing there's no way to get them back. I was sure I'd saved them correctly too.

I feel for you losing all your comments. Changing computers sucks :(

Our formatting Clark also killed all my files! Or maybe it didn't kill them per se, but it sure made them disappear! I was actually able to retrieve some of my stuff from my old HD --and really, it was a bloody relief since there was more than 50Mo of files and other fics there!-- but I sure lost all the mails I'd saved, plus some other programs I'd downloaded from the net *sigh* The programs I'll download them again, but the mails? They're lost forever.

Good idea this new LJ of yours btw- even if it's private for now *g* Back-up is *always* a good thing. I'm starting to develop a real back-up complex! lol

Well, anything you care to make available, I'd probably be interested in reading when it's ready. ^_^

I'm going to try and find some of the files on Blue. Hopefully they'll still be on there somewhere. It's a faint hope, but you have to try.

I feel your pain about the e-mails. I have to stop myself thinking what was in those missing files or I'd go mad.

Tell me about being paranoid about back-up! I got the idea of the fic LJ from patchworkdragon, and started to post all my stuff a couple of days ago. But I've got so much! I may open it to friends, but they'll have to understand that the work in there is the raw product at times.

Well thank you!

You're good for my ego *g*

I'll probably make it a friends only LJ, with huge warnings that the some stories/snippets are just the raw product. My unbetaed work is *not* good at times ;)

Yeah, that would be nice if it was opened at least for your friends. And of course, we would know that they're not the final versions. I'm warming to this idea of having an LJ for our fics. You're not the ones to do it, and I think that's a good idea, indeed.
