I'm at the limb center at the moment, waiting while James gets his new leg -- a very nifty one with a camo skin. Goodness knows how long it'll take, still, I've got the eee so I'm entertained.

People keep walking past holding onto spare legs and sometimes an arm, and I'm sitting here surfing. You know, the world is a very cool thing, where we have the tech to do such things. Someone new has just walked in carrying a leg in a bin bag, you see all sorts on these visits.

After this it's grocery shopping, you know you need to go when you have to eat left over prawn crackers for breakfast.

It's all kinds of cool. I'm sitting in a car park just now -- different hospital -- as he gets his slint changed. Wifi ftw!

Camo skin, how macho ;-)

Prawn crackers for breakfast sounds very wrong, good luck with the shopping expedition.

Totally macho! *g*

It was wrong, thankfully we have proper food now. Well, as soon as it's delivered.

You do realize how this entry probably sounds to someone who doesn't regularly read your journal, do you? :)

Hee! If you hadn't said where you were, that would have sounded quite surreal. :D

I had never heard of prawn crackers before. They sound interesting, though perhaps not exactly breakfast material.

I should have gone for the mysterious. Maybe, a man has just walked past carrying a leg in a bin bag. Soon we're off shopping *g*

Prawn crackers are tasty, also very unhealthy and not breakfast food at all. Sadly that's all we had yesterday.

OOOH Brit-speak!

Bin Bag? Bag for putting trash in??
Prawn crackers? Shrimp crackers? I dunno, if it is EWWWW. :D

Yep, bin bags are black plastic bags you put trash in.

I'm no so sure about the prawn crackers. They're like puffy crisps that are flash fried in oil and taste of prawn. Crunchy and delicious but not good for breakfast at all.

He's very taken with his new leg, and it looks very cool. He keeps saying he's got a models leg now because it's so shapely *g*

We have got food in the house! There's actual breakfast food and not prawn crackers this morning.

Back in the late nineties my sis and I were skiing out west in Utah. It was the same time as a ski week and races for amputees. After a while we got used to seeing people take their ski prosthetics up the lift, then leave their regular legs propped against one of the sheds. I wonder if the ski prosthetics are different now...

...I bet none are in camo, though! Too cool!

ps...mmmm, prawn crackers are the yum!

That's such a cool story. I know they make legs for many different sports but you've got me wondering if they're perfected one which can change from a normal walking leg to a sporting one. I bet if they have they're be expensive.

Yeah, I laughed at the camo because James came out and said they'd decided against the dessert camo, which was a good choice because there's more trees than sand to blend in against around here *g*

Prawn crackers are delicious!

There must be big changes since then. People had poles with little skis attached or they rode in a sort of ski sled. I guess what we saw them carry were the poles? http://www.usskiteam.com/adaptive

Ha! He could always cover it with brown pantyhose when going to the beach...that way it would *look* like dessert camo!

camo? really? they really make them available in camo skin? i never knew that! how's he getting on with his new one?

They do. In fact you can have pretty much anything you want as a skin within reason. A lot of people get them in their football team colours.

He's getting on okay, it's been a while since he got a completely new one so it's taking a little breaking in but it's a lot lighter, which is good.
