I've just been checking out my email, and to the person who bought me 12 months paid time at Dreamwidth. Thank you! I wasn't expecting that at all. A paid account is very shiny, but more than that. I'm grinning to myself because people are just so lovely. When I'm in a position to do so I'll pay it forward for sure. ♥

Love also goes to [livejournal.com profile] llumi who apparently read through a good chunk of my bandom fic last night which meant I woke to very awesome comments. You're very good for my ego, Jo ♥

Kerrang are playing Linkin Park from the beginning at the moment. It always surprises me how long they've been around. Which is silly because I've been a big fan of theirs almost from the start, discovering them when they brought out One Step Closer. Hybrid Theory remains one of my favourite albums and in fact I can remember talking about Crawling on the A Slash mailing list, which is forever ago.

I'm sure I'm the only one watching Britain's Top Model on my flist, but

I hate episodes where they don't eliminate anyone. As far as I'm concerned they both should have gone but omg, Chloe. I wanted to shake her. So she had to kiss a girl, deal with it!

ETA: We're having a show your favourite Mikey picture day over at [livejournal.com profile] mikeyway_daily Come and play.

I'm writing nothing long at the moment. It's pointless until after Camp Sparkle, but I am planning.

Because you've been so awesome and I think you'll like, have a snippet I was intending posting for a specific flashfic challenge but changed my mind.

The ground is frozen; dirt and concrete trapped under a glittering covering of frost. Mikey drops to his knees and the cold seeps through the fabric of his pants. He suppresses a shiver, remaining impassive as he pulls at the john's belt, easing leather through the elaborate silver buckle.

"I don't do this normally," the john says. He's got his hands pressed against his thighs and his fingernails show the remains of black varnish, dark flecks against nails that are bitten to the quick. "I just needed - something."

"Yeah," Mikey says. He isn't much for small talk. Not when he's cold and hungry and just wants to get home.

"I saw you, and..." The john flinches when Mikey starts unfastening buttons, forcing cold metal through stiff denim. "You looked; nice."

Mikey brings his hands to his mouth and blows on his fingers. He runs his tongue over his teeth and imagines each one coated in come. He doesn't feel nice. He hasn't been nice for a long time.

"I should have gone past, this is. I don't know what I'm doing."

Mikey sits back on his heels. There's a stone digging into his shin and his back is freezing, bare skin exposed between his pants and t-shirt. He knows he should push for this, demand they keep going because he needs the money -- for food and rent and the medicine Gerard needs -- what Mikey does is stand. He's seen too many people taken advantage of to do the same.

"I didn't, I mean, you don't have to stop."

"Yeah, I did," Mikey says. He hunches his shoulders and curls his hands, standing guard as the john fastens his jeans and belt.

"I wasted your time," the john says, his hands minutely shaking as he zips up his coat.

"I'll make it up," Mikey says, and he will. It just means staying out a little longer.

"No." The john is pulling out his wallet, taking out a handful of bills. "You're right, I didn't need this tonight, but that, that's not your fault."

Mikey pushes the money into his pocket, he knows there's too much but he can only be noble so many times.

"Thanks."

"The least I can do," the john says. He looks toward the entrance to the alley and starts to back away. "Sorry."

Mikey shrugs, there's nothing to be sorry for. He waits, giving the john time to leave alone, but he's lingering, looking back, and suddenly says, "Pete. My name's Pete."

Mikey watches him go.

Oh, I love this. Sad.

It's so funny. Almost all the stories with Pete in them I've read he's a very noble person.

I thought you'd appreciate it, and it was a snippet that would be deleted otherwise.

I think Pete's awesome. He's got such a big heart.

I love them!

I really like Meteora too, in fact I love all their albums except for Reanimation, and even that's a case of not liking it as much instead of actual dislike.

Cool. Did you ever hear their remixed album "Collision Course" with Jay-Z? I was listening to that driving home yesterday. I love it!

Well, all I'm doing is cross posting at Dreamwidth, subjecting two different sets of people to my meaningless babble *g*

Meteora is good, too. They're one of my favorite bands by far.

I just saw. Go you!

Yay Linkin Park! Hybrid Theory is my fave too.
I think we may be music-twins. What else do you like? (apart from bandom of course)

Woo! You have awesome taste!

Let's see. I love Feeder, Muse, Savage Garden, Madina Lake, 30 Seconds to Mars, Scissor Sisters, Green Day, AAR, Lost Prophets and especially Elliot Minor. Though no one ever seems to have heard of them.

Going way outside of bandom and where no doubt you'll not share my taste, I also enjoy Nsync/BSB/Justin Timberlake/JC Chasez. My main fandom was poplash for a long time and I got very fond of the music.

Woo! so do you!
Hmm...I'll have to check some of those out. Of course I love green day and AAR. REM is one of my favorite bands ever...I like bowling for soup, stupid as they are sometimes. And I like the killers, and my friend just got me into Reel Big Fish.
Most of the music I like is what I heard on the radio before I actually cared about bands. (Not that long ago-like four years)

Bowling For Soup are fun. Their videos always crack me up.

I remember you said you were saying you were a big REM fan. In fact, it's only Reel Big Fish I don't really know out of who you say. I'm going to check those out because everyone else you like are awesome.

What a wonderful gift! I've been meaning to get myself a paid account (icons!! :D) but I'm having some problems with my credit card. (Working problems and not money problems, thank god, but still.) After CS I'm definitely going to take some time to play around on DW.
